Don't mind the kid on defense winning although the safety from WB was better and had better stats but winning a state title doesn't mean you're the best offensive or defensive player in the area it means you had the best "TEAM" if thats the case Peyton Manning should've won Super Bowl MVP

Reasons why this award is and always have been a joke....I lost this award to a guy that I was clearly better than and had better stats etc. And now this smh lol

Silsbee 95 Hardin-Jefferson 64/Final
ozensfinest replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I've said it earlier in the season and I'll say it again if Silsbee is going to win state with this group it'll be this year or the next. Only thing I see stopping Silsbee is Sigee's ability to only play one way, pressing and trying to run with teams that like to run i.e Wheatley could end up in a loss during the playoff but then again Silsbee goes 10 deep so idk. Mike J being out might hurt as well..... BTW I would love to see a Silsbee/Ozen playoff warm up game I'd favor Ozen in the match up -

It's plenty of baseball talent in bmt just spread out amongst the 3 high schools and a lot of the players that could be good in baseball likely don't play cause most of the teams suck. -
Houston and Setx falling way behind

So many things you are wrong about in this statement....for one I never played for Nelson two without athletics I would've never gone to college me or anybody else in my high school class that played sports. I was the first person amongst my siblings to go to college, so I go back to my original statement athletics are some kids(like myself, Willie Jefferson, Breon etc.) only way out. My parents couldn't afford to pay for me to go to school neither could those parents of the guys I just mentioned. In the 9th grade I knew that my only way into college would be through athletics. My development had nothing to do with any coach or workout facility the butch wasn't even around when I was in school. Me and the other guys that went to college did so off strictly natural ability we definitely didn't lift weights like we supposed to. Now maybe if there were an state of the art facility in place we would've worked out and who knows maybe even won a few more games. -

Put your money into athletics and everything else will fall in place I firmly believe that. -

While you do have a good point...athletics are some kids only way out so I disagree especially for schools thats in the inner city. Athletics have changed a lot of kids lives most of the teams that are really successful on the field/court it tends to translate in the classroom as well. -

BISD needs to form one high school I looked at the numbers and it's about 5k total students in BISD that wouldn't be too big for one school IMO...would help them financially and would be a huge boost in athletics can you imagine that? BISD would compete for a state title in just about every sport -

Do we even have to discuss how Toby wanted the Ozen job but was given Central instead? Or how they ran off all the good football coaches(Brooks & Nelson) & not to mention Bouttee? Or how the past admin has portrayed Ozen to the residents of Beaumont which all has result in Ozen dropping to 4a numbers come on Soulja really? I guess you're blind to all of this huh? This has been known for years, Dr. Thomas & Saveat have always been pro central especially when it comes to athletics all you have to do is simply pay attention but of course since its benefitting Central you don't see it though lol this is why I will always consider Ozen the best high school in Beaumont because even with the admin against us and 4a numbers we continue to have the best basketball program in the area and have probably produced more D-1 athletes since we've been open than Central & WB. -

What's even worst the past admin in BISD set things up for them to win one and they still haven't....last two years was their chance to win and they blew it lol central won't be winning a state championship anytime soon. -
I would've loved to see that Yates team against 2001 Ozen that's Yates team is the best I've seen in Texas.
-
Man please stop saying this Dr. Thomas is a KNOWN Central fan....his kids went to Central not Ozen! And you can say what you want about Dr. Thomas but as far as I know the district was in much better shape while he was Supt than it is now that's for sure.

I'm just going off what Coach English stans were saying bout him...yall said he he had Ned "competing" never knew a 27 point whipping was considered competing. And I don't have a top 5 list of great coaches cause IMO there isn't any thats active. -
This may be true but look at the demographics of the kids WB compared to OHS....plus WB sends a lot more students to college.
-
It's not secret the past admin has not been pro Ozen....

Lol the great Brian English definitely has his guys competing out there I see -
No soulja my freshman year was went Ozen started to go down hill...we had the lowest enrollment as a freshman class in Ozen's history at the time. Ozen was never the darling of Beaumont when I attended Ozen and I've only been out of high school for 6 years now.
-
You missed my point yeoj...I never said that Ozen was a great school but none of the other two schools are much better so a parent choosing to send her kid to CHS or WB over Ozen thinking that they have a better administration/education is only a perception that the media and residents of beaumont has created. I graduated from Ozen and went on to college and graduated from there as well. I know plenty of guys that graduated from WB just in my class that flunked out of college got caught with drugs on college campus etc. And they graduated from Westbrook....Bad things have happened at Ozen just as they have at WB & CHS is my point.
-
Has nothing to do with the admin at Ozen or getting the better education at WB or Central, the problem is the media and upper administration have given the perception to the people of Beaumont that Ozen is a terrible school when thats far from the case, when I was in school we had better scores that WB and Central so education can't be it. It started when a bunch of coaches and staff members were constantly on the news for all sorts of things plus the firing of Coach Brooks & hiring of Coach Clayton then the 1-9 season and it's been pretty much downhill from there...truth be told you're not getting a better education at neither 3 of the high schools they're all pretty much the same when it comes to getting an education. So that can't be the reason, and before you dispute this please know that I have many friends that attended Central & WB and they all can vouch for this. You can get just a good an education at Ozen, CHS or WB equally. Same goes for behavior issues you have plenty at all 3 schools with the worst of the bunch more than likely at Central and their enrollment isn't down. So idk what you're alluding to but those reasons can't be it.

Settling the "greatest SE Texas coach" debate
ozensfinest replied to Dick Vitale's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I'm not being biased at all...I never said he was a bad coach but a great one? I'm not so sure about that, I just simply wanted to know the criteria for a coach being considered good and great. -
