  1. February 22, 2008 Auburn offers third Texas standout Jeffrey Lee AuburnSports.com Publisher Related Links: Texas ATH picks up AU offerAU offers Lonestar State OL Talk about it in The Bunker Auburn has extended a scholarship offer to another Texas high school junior. Justin Isadore, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound inside linebacker out of Ozen High School in Beaumont, received the news earlier this week that he was the latest addition to the Tigers' Lonestar State target list. Isadore would be the second player from Ozen to sign with Auburn. Brian West did it in 2005. Auburn has also offered Plano ATH Rex Burkhead and Greenwood OL Stavion Lowe, two other Texas standouts. The offer from Auburn was Isadore's first, and for the rising senior, it couldn't have come at a better time. "I sent off so many films. I sent video to every school in the nation," said Isadore. "I was sitting here thinking the other day that no one had watched it or paid it any attention, but finally somebody came through." Isadore said he learned of the news from his coach, Ishan Rison. "I was at home and he called and said to get my parents together and come to the school, that he had a big surprise," said Isadore. "We went up to the school and he brought me into his office and took my height. He said, 'Yeah, you're 5-11. That's what I told them.' "Then he said he got a call from Auburn assistant coach Greg Knox, and that Auburn wanted to offer me a scholarship." Isadore later spoke with Knox on the phone. "Coach Knox was telling me that they really liked me. They got my highlight tape and watched it. He said the linebacker coach came in there and said, 'we need to offer this kid'. "It feels real good. It was one of the happiest days of my life." AuburnSports.com Blackmon was the No. 1 LB in the country out of LaGrange, Ga. Isadore said the offer from the Tigers made a very big impression on him. One of his favorite linebackers plays in the orange and blue. "I've been a big fan of Tray Blackmon's for a while. I remember when he came out of high school watching his film on Rivals. I could be playing with him on the same team," said Isadore. "I also did a little research and saw that I had a good chance of playing there, a good possibility of getting some early playing time. That's a good thing, even though I don't mind redshirting." Auburn, Isadore said, is atop his list of favorites. He's never been to the Plains, but hopes to change that this spring. "Auburn is definitely the No. 1 school on my list right now," he said. "I'm going to try and go to their spring game March 29. "It's a long trip from Texas, but I want to make it up there and see what the Auburn football program is all about, what the Auburn football family is all about." As a junior, Isadore recorded 112 tackles, four interceptions, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and scored two defensive touchdowns. Isadore's father, James Garrett, played football at North Texas. "He's going to let me make my own decision. Whatever I decide to do, my parents are going to be behind me 100-percent," said Isadore.
  2. exactly buc............take southlake carrol and katy for example they have great way better seasons than lumberton and still manage to send three to four players to D-1 schools...........IMO, the reason lumberton isnt sending many players to college is because those guys arent as good as hyped up to be
  3. you feel stupid yet? notice, your the only one trashing them. For one, Lumberton plays as a team, our goals aren't to get 5 guys to the next level like ozen and central. we play as a TEAM, therefore, we MIGHT only have 1 or 2 each year.. if that. And TWO, there is only so much a coach can do, he just doesn't have D1 size, and he knows that.. quit hating because we have athletes and yall only can get two players in college a year the fact of the matter is the players over there are not as good as they're hyped up to be and college coaches arent impressed either so Aj quit hating and get used to it lumberton wont have a player D-1 ball for a very long time.lol First of all Congrats to Cody for the excellent season, and I wish him the best of luck at OPSU! ozensfinest why do you even post when you have no sense of knowledge about high school football and about the Lumberton football team? High school football isn't about who has the most athletes but who comes together as a team and plays as a team. No dough in my mind Ozen has way better athletes than Lumberton, but do you know why they pretty much bent yall over? TEAM EFFORT! Everyone of thoughs guys laid it on the line each and every play, and thats what makes Lumberton so darn good. Ozen in the other hand was fighting with each other on the field. No team unity. And by the way 2 of Lumbertons players for 2009 are getting highly recruited. 6'5, 285 OL Hunter Howden, and 6'0 210 RB/LB Jacob Hanna. Both of these guys will go Div.1 next year. And not to mention 6'0 210 RB/LB Anthony Beard for the class of 2010. After these guys pass I don't think their will be any Div.1 players for a while. And once again Congrats to Cody Hussey! well deserved young man none of them will go D-1...........you can play as a team and have a sucessful season but in the end what are those guys purposes for busting their butts on the field i know they want to get something out of it not jus a good playoff run i know if you are any good in football you want to go and play at the next level and thats something that lumberton fail to do with their players...........only two players going play college ball thats sad
  4. You have no clue of what you are talking about. Chavis had his choice of schools and chose to follow his brother to A&M. I'm a big Texas fan, but how is a scholarship to Texas a better scholarship? Both are free rides to D-I schools. We'll just watch and see who becomes the better college football player. My money is on Chavis. neither one of them impressed me this year and i can guarantee you texas wasnt a school that offered him but neway let me give you an example of how texas is better then........lets go by the players that texas gets and the players that a&m gets.............in the class of 09 texas gets players like garret gilbert arguably the best qb in the state of texas and ranked number 12 in the nation, thomas ashcraft, chris waley the best running back in the state of texas, greg timmons ranked 69 in the nation...........a&m doesnt have a verbal from one player one the rivals top 100 players in the class 09 they get all of texas leftovers thats why texas was able to get dravannti from a&m when he was commited there its a no brainer if texas offered the same kid that a&m did the player would pick texas hands down the university of texas is way better then a&m in every aspect Isn't C. Michael in the rivals top 100? Wasn't Texas trying to get him? Didn't he commit to A&M? Mack Brown was a better recruiter than that suck butt coach A&M had. Weather that trend remains with A&M's new coach has yet to be seen. Oh and last year when Mack Brown came to Beaumont for Ozen's Ben Wells LOI, he stopped at West Brook to visit with Blake Chavis. So I dont know about your guarantee. yea he was at a point in time but no anymore......and texas never offer him a scholarship and what does that meeting have to do with anything if he did come meet with him the fact of the matter is he was never offered a scholarship and if he was he would have signed with the longhorns believe me

  6. Lets pick em you guys, who do you think will be the the two teams playing for the state championship in all classifications...........??

Willie sucks at WR period. Like the other poster, I'll believe it when I see it. Ok i was wrong about Willie I was just basing that on from when I spoke to him but willie isnt kin to me but Justin is.........Just ask coach Craig Knox did he offer him a scholarship
