Just finished the book"The First Season".... Johnny Carter (23) Won a state championship  in his rookie year as the coach at Kennard. Good read if you are a high school basketball fan. He won it three out the first four years there. Those old Kennard teams were in a different class than their recent teams.  Always a battle when we played them. They could put a press on you.....

I'm right 98% of the time.....who cares about the other 3%..... ;D

How many seniors were on Yates varsity? How many starters do they lose? Will they be as good next year?

Dove, if you multiply 425.00 times four and the other three guys are young married guys on a budget it kina puts things in perspective. ;D  May have to bite the bullet next year.

* Should have taken a thicker jacket. * Double Tree wanted 425.00 a night(gouge) Had to stay in Round Rock. *Got to meet AAW!  super guy. *Clarksville is the real deal in 1A. *Good championship game in 2A. White Oak pg # 11 was quick! * Argyle was impressive. I thought LeVega played down to Miller. They looked a lot more disciplined at the regional tourney. I believe Athens,Silsbee and HJ all could have beaten Miller by 15. * I thought Kimball would have handled the Yates press a little better. Kimball's shot selection wasn't very good especially in the first half. Game got exciting in the fourth quarter. *5A was a different level. Fun to watch the  Flower Mound machine....Pg for Travis couldn't miss in the semi's. Next year should be Travis's year. *All in all it was a fun tourney. This makes 17 in a row for us. Hope for the next 17 years we can all still be debating which games was best....

Actually I thought  Yates was more diciplined than Kimball. The last quarter was exciting to watch. Enjoyed the 5A better.  Thought the refs in the 4A were in over their head.

Great tourney. OSU coach as there with a big smile.  AAW, it was a pleasure to  meet you. Hope there many more tourney trips in store for us all!

Would love to see a good gsme. Maybe a last second shot to win it.  Lol

HJ knew how to beat it and had prepared for it, but Friday night, after getting ready to take the floor because Athens was shooting free-throws to win it basically, and then having to wait through TWO overtime periods did something to both teams that night, I can promise you that. LaVega was a [s]good[/s] great team. Their will to win was just like that of HJ's. They were not unbeatable, and anyone who watched Friday night could have told you that. HJ, I dare to say, COULD have one that game, but I don't think SHOULD have one the game. Were we capable of winning that game? NO DOUBT!!!!! But capability, probability, and actuality are three totally different things that can be extremely painful when they all don't agree. Now for the most important part of my post. LaVega's basketball team (not it's fans, because I am hearing differently of them, although I'm not positive about them) was the classiest group of young men I have seen in a LONG time (aside from HJ of course). They were extremely happy that they one that game, but when we went to shake their hands, there was not an ounce of sneering or disrespect coming from them. All they had were positive things to say about us and I think that is the most important aspect of High-School athletics. After the game when we were waiting on the bus to come pick us up at the back of the Coliseum, they came out AGAIN and shook all of our hands, congratulating us on a great season and complimenting all of us.
