Good atmosphere. Jacks has some players.....
Big crowd?
Decent......a lot of the students were gone for Thanksgiving.. both sidelines were about three fourths full.
Spurger played extremely sloppy, and although they couldnt handle the press and had way to many turnovers. This was a good game for the pirates it will help them mature. I pick them to win their district and the rest is up to them.
How can players come out of football two days ago and press the whole game? I guess if you are an athlete your an athlete......most dont have their legs this early.
NO=LOOK.....VERY GOOD.....YOU ARE RIGHT IN BOTH CASES...first...if you have a foul followed by a tech....this is the order you proceed. if it is the 7th foul you would shootone and one....or two shots if it is a shooting foul ....or if it is a foul on a made basket then it would be one shot...followed ny two shots for thetech....after the two techs the ball is put in in the side across from the scorers table.... IN THE SECOND CASE........the official SHOULD NOT GRANT A TIMEOUT UNLESS THE BALL IS IN CONTROL OF ONE TEAM OR THE OTHER.... Would you be so kind to tell me which games these happened in,.....I need to know if they are part of our UIL CHAPTER or TASO.....
Happened in the Lufkin area....game one was a girls game and game two was a boys....two different sets of refs.....game two,I have seen those guys before and have called at our place and done a decent job.....

Seen some strange ones this week.....I have the highest reguard for a good ref. There are some good ones out there that bring class and stability to the game but I guess a few are just learning..........team A fouls team B... team A thens geta a tech....after much discussion team B shoots the two shot tech and they play the one and one free throw. Shouldn't they shoot the one and one, then the tech and then get the ball?...........................team A and team B are scrambling for a loose ball, no one has possession(in front of team B bench) team B coach yells time out to ref. He is awarded the time out. ball still loose on the floor. After a discussion team B gets the ball and possession arrow is changed from team A to team B........chaos...lol

Spurger in a close one.........not sure the fb boys will have any legs....
Man, watching the Hawks on the free throw line was gut-wrenching.
Probally first of the year jitters or kids not in top shape........we have been terrible from the line....had a four shot oppertunity(one and one and a tech)and the ball and came away with nothing.....hopefully it will get better as the season goes along.

HJ played all of fourth quarter without starting point guard who fouled out. Several "experts" on this board had said that Benard could not replace Donahoe and after that theory failed, they said that Benard could not be replaced this year. Jacoby Turner had a triple double that was 37-12-12. So much for the "he can't be replaced theory"
GPS..........

Not taking anything away from silsbee. I know they will be good. But i think HJ has a shot. JMO
But has HJ ever played a Silsbee team that had a starting lineup of '6"3, '6"3, '6"4, '6"7,'6"8." ::) I would think not I cannot think of a Silsbee basketball team in the past that ever had that much size If they can get JJ in the mix that will be one of the most ridiculous lineups in 3a period
Size always helps, but can they break a good press, shoot good from the outside, protect the ball, block out, etc: all those fundamental things that make a good team? Do the bigs have muscle enough to get physical?.... -
Well, one game into the season and I would have to say that Kountze's Roman Walker is the best player in the area. He is so explosive, had 5 dunks tonight. Really attacks the basket well and very active defensively. He has all the tools to be a great player.
Wait a minute, I thought Brey was the best player in the area?.......Is this team loaded or what? -
He'll play a wing, with emphasis on attacking the basket. He'll be another good defender like Lane with his length. You'll see Silsbee at times with this size on the court all at once, '6"3, '6"3, '6"4, '6"7,'6"8.
Are you sure this is not juco?.......I may want to see some birth certificates..... -
Well, if Silsbee is district champion, then they won't face Cleveland or Navasota till the regional finals as I see both Cleveland and Navasota winning their districts. The district 21-3A champ gets a much easier route to the regional finals than the runner up of 21-3A.
I know that Cleveland has four starters back but what about Navasota?
