How many of these guys play football? Zach Hayes and Jarvis Benard dont play football. I'm sure this time of year basketball coaches are nervous that their guys could get an injury during football season and have to miss some basketball. Why did you want to know who played football, were you wanting to look for them on the football field? Or another reason? Was wondering about the HJ players. We open up with them. If they have a couple starters fresh out of football it will be a thirty point win instead of fifty for HJ.......

How many of these guys play football?

The 1-3-1 is great........a 1-4 low or high or a 5 out sometimes gives it fits.

Some get really sneaky and set up in a 1-2-2 and then switch to another defense in relation to where the ball is advanced. Different sets having different passwords.

True dat. The shell drill works good if your working on man. You can work on most all areas. Closing out, boxing out, rotation, cutters if you switch. What is the # 1 goal wheather running man or zone? Stop penetration?

Some teams run man to man but at times will have the appearance of a zone. Man puts you in position for better rebounding percentages.

Pros and cons?

There's an article on Texas Hoops about Corey Garrett, 6'8" from Center that had a good summer......said to have several scholarship offers. Center could be a force in this district.

I have seen both and beleive both could make it to Austin this year. You have to be good and have a little luck to go with it to make it. Both teams are well coached and fundamental. They should have a good year.

How do you think jasper will do in their new district?

How many starters did Silsbee lose? What about the big kid and the point guard?

Are you sure that Carthage lost all five starters?........also, I thought the old coach stayed?

I had Carthage in the playoffs, but didn't know that they lost all starters and with eight seniors......If thats the case I will have to pick Hudson, Huntington and Jasper for playoff spots....(no partictular order) Jasper....talented guards that can go. Hudson....almost everyone back. Huntington....could start three 6'5"s....summer games(for whatever thats worth)...Lost to Hudson by two. Beat a good Lufkin team(split varsity) by 1. beat Diboll by 26....much improved. Center will be hard to beat......good point guard and a 6'8" Central Pollock.......will be down and small, but coach Collins will have them competive... Diboll......Lost a lot to graduation and had a starter to move(so I'm told) Rusk......should be down, but will have some good athletes.. They may want to go ahead and play the games just in case I'm wrong...lol

HJ and Silsbee will be hard to beat. I am hearing a lot about HJ's inexperience and being young..........but I'm not buying that load of cr#$....lol

Some of my most memorial games were between Huntington and Jasper a few years back. Out of four district games, Jasper won the first game in three overtimes, the second game Huntington won in five overtimes........next year Huntington won first meeting in four OT's and Jasper won the fourth by three or so in regulation..............that was some of the most intense atmospheres that I can remember. maybe that can be renewed...........

Jasper replaced Crockett, thats the only change.

Jasper is always tough. The last time Jasper was in Huntingtons district, they split both years......four games and 11 overtimes..........7 the first two games......I wonder if thats a state record? That was some of the best games to watch.......

Hudson and Carthage should get in. Third is up for grabs. I think Diboll loses two best players. Central should be down. Huntington has most everyone back and should be better. (split with Hudson and Diboll this year) Not sure about Jasper, they are always tough. How many starters are graduating?.......also Center will be tough again......
