  1. i think you should reward the teams that had a good season with the playoffs, not a mediocre season...when u allow 4 teams to go and teams show up w/ losing records thats ridiculous...3 i can see an argument for, but the problem is if you make it universal most districts dont really have 3 playoff worthy teams...the way we are doing it now is "ok" to me, because by the 3rd round of the playoffs the teams that shouldnt be there are weeded out, but the problem is teams are awarded for mediocrity in the new system...if we are teaching kids about life w/ football then they shouldnt be awarded for mediocrity however if we are just using it as a platform to have fun and learn to play w/n a team environment then 4 teams are fine, the more games you play the more fun u have and the more team experience you get....obviously the UIL has decided its the later (plus they like the extra revenue but im leaving that outa this) and i can live w/ that, but my personal preference would to go back to putting 2 teams in, maybe even just one...
  2. Rebel, you should make it to Waco when they Bears play the Horns, Jawhawks, or Aggies in conference...teh Ferrel Center doesnt disappoint....that place is LOUD...
  3. i dunno skipper....hopefully they would still play if lee became 4a, but there were rumors in the past that they wouldnt when they thought lee was going to be 4a in this alignment...it would be a shame if they ended that rivalry, its one of the better ones esp. if both teams are having decent years...the problem with keeping it going would be if lee became 4a then who knows how many district games they would have and sterling too...with some of these crazy districts nowdays it might not be possible to schedule a non-district game between the 2....basically, if lee goes 4a then i could see the end of the sterling/lee rivalry coming, if not immediately i think it eventually would peter out (like dayton/liberty)....
  4. Sterling/Lee, like every year...but with Lee possibly going 4a for the next realignment i hope this isnt one of the last Sterling/Lee games...
  5. Kansas losing to UMass hurts today hurts the conference unfortunately... the Bears are good though, today Kendall Wright (receiver for football and guard for basketball) played in his first game during cleanup time...that guy is jsut crazy athletic...
  6. well it'll be fun for the kids to play there, hopefully the communities wont have too much trouble following along and they have a good size crowd as well
  7. no one has played there in a couple years...they just kinda let it go into disrepair since the astros left, finally caught up to it...
  8. they must have some $$$$ then...i never been to sulphur springs to know what kinda town it is....
  9. come on its a highschool football game...its not like this is the st. louis rams playing out there where they always play in a dome at home and the players have been specifially drafted for that type of surface...these kids have only played football outdoors, i dont buy the excuse that indoors gives x team an advantage over y team...they are both outdoor squads and they'd have to play in the same elements for both sides..if they want to come out and say, i want my kids to play somehwere cool where a lot of the players on the team wont get a shot at playing again then ill buy that... the coaches do have the 1st obligation toward their team and winning, thats what they are paid to do, but the if the coach makes it to the state championship game and loses he wont get fired...its a makable drive for dayton fans if they want to pony up the money for a hotel room as well, but for sulphur spring fans i'd be pretty upset, thats a long ways to travel for a game...hopefully plenty of fans will be able to make the drive to the game....
  10. thats weak matthew, texas football is a community sport...the town pays that coaches salary so i'd argue he does have a pretty big obligation to the community... reguardless, it doesnt matter the spot is picked...i hope i can figure out a way to go
  11. probably true but they couldnt have picked a poorer site as far as fan travel goes....dayton gets the shorter trip and thats about a 6 hour drive i think (havent been out to san antonio in a while)....SFA wouldve been dead in the middle of the 2 schools...
  12. the dayton announcers said alamodome several times...hope the broncos pull it out! are the sites predetermined in 4a like 5a? casue teh alamodome really makes no sense for a dayton/sulphur spring game...i'd figured they play at SFA or something...
  13. www.kshn.com broadcast all liberty/dayton games....dont have to worry about tunring off half ur computer speakers for this one though since liberty is obviously out of it....right now some music is on, but they will have the game when the 3rd quarter starts
  14. in Liberty we had about 6-8 inches of snow in the yard when i got up to go to work this morning (around 6:30)....on my way to work Liberty to Baytown everything but the roads (thank god) were covered with about 6 inches of snow atleast...it was pretty cool to see...only one wreck that i ran across on the trinity river bridge on 90, some guy had spun out and hit the concrete barrier...no one else was involved and the guy looked fine... on a side note, glad i dont live in houston itself, it took most people until after lunch to get to baytown for work out here since every major highway was closed cause of a bridge or a wreck to get here..
  15. too far for me to drive, i have been going to the dayton playoff games (the last 3 this year and 3 last year) but georgetown is a heckuva trip...if the broncos make the state finals i'll be there, i got a feeling this years semifinal will go a lot better than last year...
  16. their winning streak was cause of their old district and 21-5a wasn't as good this year as it has been in the past....the last time they lost they were in the baytown/beaumont area district then they moved to the pasadena area district for 6 of their 8 years in their streak and dominated (streak started when they were in the baytown/beaumont district, i think it was 22-5a back then for 1 year, then 6 in pasadena area, now 1 back in 21-5a)....if 21-5a can go back to its old strength then north shore will lose its streak, but whose to say they dont put them back down in the pasadena district after next year?...
  17. they are ranked 6 in the state so they are pretty good...of the playoff projections i have seen most have the winner of a potential future matchup between pearland/north shore going on to the state championship game....judging from how sterling played pearland and how they played north shore i'd think north shore is the better team, but football doesnt always follow the transitive property....
  18. End of the 3rd quarter Pearland up 25-7....
  19. I'm getting updates from a friend at the game, so all i know are scores.... After 1 Quarter: Pearland up 8-0 At the half: Pearland up 15-7 a lot closer so far than i thought, hopefully Sterling can hang w/ them in the 2nd half and give them a scare or an upset
  20. nice...5 OL taht are senoirs dont sound good for next year though :-\
  21. yah...it shocked me they were so bad too...Dobie ended up 3-4 in that district, so did Pasadena Memorial and South Houston...if Pasadena Memorial = South Houston then yall will roll, Sterling beat South Houston 36-0 and it wasnt even that close... That said I dont think Memorial will be equal to South Houston...That Snelson kid was very impressive last year against Lee, i imagine he is only better...he will get his yards, the question is if yall can stop the rest of their team...i'd guess yes but apparantly Panama is convinced otherwise and he saw them, maybe they had some kids hurt earlier in the year or something, i dunno...
  22. I dunno how they lost to Dobie, but Dobie beat Channelview 21-0......Channelview didnt win a game all year...
  23. WHOA! You really think Pasadena Memorial can beat WB? I mean, with their non-existant defense? I think our boys have something to prove after the NS game! I was thinking the same thing. I guess Panama has seen everyone play, but I don't see Pasadena beating Brook. last year they had a really, really fast running back when they played Lee and i think he was a junior then......i think they will score a good bit but i dunno about win, maybe panama seen something if he saw them play this year, all i have to go on is last year....
  24. wish i could but i got the football game tickets for me and my dad (50 a piece) and then me, my mom, and him are goitn to watch baylor basketball that night (15 a piece) well in advance of Sterling clinching the playoffs...not to mention hotel reservations, too much money to eat to go see what will prolly be a blow out....Minyard apparantly did a great job this year after losing a lot of players and all, it appears he has Sterling on the road of being a consistant program, hopefully a consistantly good program, im betting my money on Sterling seeing the playoffs again w/n the next couple of years...i'll definitely make the next one...
