If that is the case, I stand corrected. I believe the Fema funds are based on a county being declared a disaster area, not if it was a mandatory evac area. Someone please correct me if I am wrong on this.

I can't believe Hardin County is still under a VOLUNTARY evacuation. Rita kicked our a** with a mandatory evac, & it looks like same song, second verse with Ike. If our powers that be screw us out of federal funds, I will have the reds!!!

Who gives a crap what "The Woodlands People" think? They're all stuck up & their football program is overrated. Perhaps Lufkin can return the favor & pull a chicken "crap" stunt like the Woodlands & have all of the Woodlands cars towed away after being parked at a bank that was already closed on a Friday night.

: Admittedly, the Tigers are returning three starters along with a "Big" guy that got a lot of playing time last year and I expect them to be good. But don't start that crying crying already jetski. It's not like the Hawks don't have ANYBODY returning. I see a scenario very much like the 2007/08 season - with one or the other advancing to Austin. 8) I am certainly not "crying" as you suggest - I was simply trying to bring some levity to the subject. But after taking in your reply to the post, it seems like someone has some doubts or misgivings as to what the future holds for Silsbee basketball for the 2008-2009 season.

There will certainly be some obstacles to hurdle on the way to Austin: Navasota, Crockett, etc.; but hopefully we'll have another regional final of HJ vs. Silsbee. How about you Tigers letting us Hawks win this time?

As a person who played Little League baseball & coached my two sons in PONY baseball, I have come to the conclusion that Little League has it right. In Little League(unless times have changed), there is only one All-Star team per each age division. Consequently, you don't have to worry about which team goes in as a #1 or #2, because as stated earlier, there is only one All-Star team for that particular age group.

I was thinking it was you, but wasn't sure if you wanted your identity revealed. I wasn't at the camp last year, but my previous reply was based on some parents comments to me on how it went; just being objective. I'm not sure why these parents felt they needed to come to me with this info, but being a previous board member & coach, I guess they felt I needed to be in the know. I was planning on signing myself & my boys up for this camp when I first moved out here, but unfortunately, that was the same year Mr. Stockton passed away & the camp was put on hold for a couple of years. Personally, I wouldn't invite other leagues over - Twin County needs all the help they can get, especially this year, when it comes to our All-Star teams getting out of this area. HA!!!

Once the dates are straightened, please post when everyone should show for tryouts.

Just out of curiousity, how successful was this camp last year? It was pushed hard @ the closing ceremonies for all the different divisions of Twin County Youth Baseball last year, but after talking to a few of the parents whose kids actually attended, it wasn't quite as popular as advertised. I thought Derrick was away @ college.

Say what you will, but there is NO WAY HJ is the 13th best team in the state. They are in the top five if not higher. True, they lost to Silsbee on a day where Silsbee was the better team, but I guarantee you, Kennedale nor Burkburnett had no desire to see HJ make it to the state tournament.

HJ losing too much size & senior leadership. They will finish 2nd in district, shock the world by beating Navasota and/or Silsbee in the regional final & bringing home the state title.

who did HJ play first round at state last year Tyler Chappell Hill & they were A LOT tougher than Abilene Wylie was in the finals. Man, it still stings knowing we're not going back to Austin. Good Luck Silsbee.

Man, HJ(Henderson Middle School), really struggled last night. They only won one event - the 2400M run. That's including all field events too.

I've been following the thread the whole game & I've been as nervous as a whore in church!!! Excuse my French. How did HJ lose a 9 point lead with 5 minutes to go & more importantly, how did they score after that last timeout with 7 seconds to go?

On the radio, it sounds like Navasota is getting away with a lot of travelling without being called. Does it look that way to you? The zebras better not determine the outcome of this game.
