  1. It's hillarious how two sides can come up with two completely different stories of what they saw! Kelly lost the scrimmage to a much smaller school that didin't even use their #1 back but 5 plays on offense and a few on defense and they can't stand it, but that's OK, you can rebound next week against Liberty. I watched their scrimmage and they couldn't even beat themselves.
  2. Not that it matters, but Kelly only had one interception during the initial 15 plays and it was on their own 2 yard line, but it did keep Hardin from scoring again on them, so i duess it did play into things by them not getting embarrased even worse. Kelly didn't have a first down during the first quarter of timed play, and don't give me the crap that it was their second and third team in there, it was the first quarter of live play, not a time for coaches to play reserves.
  3. I do want to say I use the word "dominated" loosely, Hardin still has tons to work on and Kelly was no slouch and is loaded with talent and should have a great year. So "looked better" might have been a better choice of words.
  4. Hardin looked good after a slow start. Kelly scored on their 15th play, Hardin scored twice during their 15 plays. Hardin dominated during the two 16 minute quarters, only giving up a touchdown towards the end after all the reserves and JV players were in. Villemez only had about 4 or 5 rushes, the second one going about 65 yards for a touchdown. Hardin didn't show half of what they got though, Haynes is a very smart man!
  5. Terrible day for all of us, I can't express the sorrow I'm experiencing right now. I've known Chris for many years, I just don't know what to say. You will be missed!
  6. Stelly is a great kid with the best work ethic you'll find. I'm very proud of him, and I want to say I'm sorry for missing graduation, I'm in Colorado. Like I've said before, I new this kid was gonna be special way back in our first year of pee-wee football. Good luck bud, I wish you the world!!
  7. He also came to Hardin a few weeks back to get a video of the Villemez kid, of course I want Mitch as far away from UT as he can get. Lets get some visits from Alabama and I'll be happy!
  8. If he's not 6'3", he's 6' 2 3/4", or real close. If you know him, you'll know he doesn't stand up straight very much and doesn't come across to be as tall as he is. I also, while I'm posting about running backs, want to say that one of my favorite kids to ever play in Hardin will be playing college ball next year. John (Kaleb) Stelly, good luck and I wish you the world. I had the pleasure of coaching him for 5 or 6 years during youth football and we knew then he was gonna be special. 400 pounds on the bench press? Good Lord!!
  9. Without a doubt, Hardin shutting up EC for at least a little while. It's good to beat the self proclaimed "world champions" of East Texas, well at least world champions in the minds of those within 200 yards of Winnie. Everyone else mostly laughs at them.
  10. Villemez in Hardin.....6'3", 200 pounds, 4.5 in the 40......Should be a force!
  11. People can bash all they want to, but I guarantee you that every week the opposing school scheduled to come play in Hardin will be excited and talking about getting to play on turf.
  12. Books? I didn't know you needed books to teach the TAKS test, thats all schools teach anymore anyways. Seriously though, this will definately spruce things up there, and the program has improved, but we do need the kids help also. It's easy to blame the teachers, the school, lack of materials, ect., but the kids have to want to learn and I think one of the biggest things Haynes has brought is just that. They want to play for him and know they have to pass to do it, and he makes sure they're on the ball.
  13. Mitch will be the best athlete in the district next year, I assure you there's a reason Major Applewhite was in Hardin the other day getting his videos.
  14. I may be wrong on the year, but I think it was 1983 that Hardin beat EC, hamshire-fannett, and someone else in 3A. They also beat Hull-Daisetta, West Hardin, ect. from their previous 2A district, so 2-7 is not accurate. The EC score was real close, like 8-0 or something close to that.
  15. Aside any disasters happening, Hardin will have their best team since 1983, the first year Hardin went 3A and killed everybody from their previous 2A district and won three or four 3A district games.
  16. Congrats to Coach Mike Morgan(Meat) and his son Anthony! How does it feel to be state champs? Pretty awesome I bet!! Come to Hardin and see us some time, tell Jennifer and Jenny I said hello, and your mom and dad.
  17. I agree that this particular play wouldn't have necessarily changed the outcome, but i disagree on the fact of how many yards the QB would have had. He was all alone headed down the field, the whole defense took the fake and was headed the other way. The worst part of it all, after the ref blew the call and he knew he blew the call, he had the nerve on the very next play, which also resulted in a first down inside the 10, to call an illegal formation penalty on us. I'm not taking anything away from New Waverly, they were impressive, but they also only had 100 yards more offense than Hardin, we just couldn't put the ball in the endzone the 5 or 6 times we were inside the 20. Hardin is young, very young, look for them in the playoffs again next year. Also, good luck to New Waverly the rest of the way.
  18. New Waverly is tough, fast and big. They played a heck of a ballgame! Horrible officiating, I hope noone else gets this group. Good luck down the road to New Waverly!
  19. I wish Stelly all the world has to offer, this kid has been special since the pee-wee days. If everyone had his work ethic you would have one unstoppable team. Good luck Kaleb, make 'em remember you!!
  20. Good luck EC, but I'm sure glad ya'll got Newton and Hardin didn't.
  21. I wish Joe Allen the best of luck, but I think Mart is gonna be tough to beat.
  22. Hardin has been picked to lose just about every game this year and ended up the district runner-up, and you're still picking them to lose. They seem to find a way to win the big games, that comes with great coaching and team leadership. Don't ever underestimate them, I assure you they will be ready. They will come in planning and expecting to win this game, and we won't be surprised to see them again next week.
  23. Anahuac is the best team in the district this year hands down, if they play their third string and some of the band members then Deweyville has a chance. Good luck to both teams though.
  24. Mr. Reality, I'm not sure what "ya" means but if you meant to say "you" then reality should be taken from your username. Hardin beat three 23-AA perinneal (spelling?) playoff teams and ended up the district runner-up, I would say we earned it. Anytime you beat the likes of EC and Buna alone, two teams that are always mentioned on here as teams to reckon with and always seem to make the playoffs, you earned your spot. We could make an argument about Evadale being ranked higher than us, but Evadale is a district champion that is putting it to a lot of people this year. Could they beat Hardin, who knows, anything could happen on any given night.
