It's much easier for a school to compete in sports against bigger schools in sports that don't require a whole lot of participation and depth, particulary when those sports are the ones that have the most tradition and emphasis placed upon them. In sports where the bigger school has as much tradition and emphasis placed upon them, schools like H-F will struggle to compete consistently. imo

The biggest difference, imo, is the fact that 6 or 7 years ago H-F wasn't bumping heads in district with teams like Silsbee, Jasper and WO-S.  H-F has plenty of talent, but these other schools have quite a bit more, year in and year out.

Yeah, we outplayed LaMarque that game and maybe should have won. We played great against Carthage also in Conroe. Really good ride that year. The year we really fell short of expectations and real potential was '93, imo.
