It's all about the $$$$. LU is very similar to the Houston Astros. Afraid to spend money. They decided in the 80s to be a primarlily basketball school, and they had a good run. But it's over now. If they ever want to get back to where they were, they have to fork up the money. Honestly though, this is now a football, baseball, basketball school. In that order. I don't think Tubbs main focus is basketball right now, nor should it be.
What planet are you on? I love it when people complain about the Astros not spending money and don't do any actual research!!! Houston had the 8th highest payroll in 2009 ($103 million). Behind huge markets NY (Yankes and Mets); Chicago Cubs; Boston; Detroit (only smaller market); LA Angels; And Philli. Which is proof it ain't about how much you spend, it's about who you spend it on. As far as Roc and graduation rates, again check the numbers. From what I understand this year already graduated is Hall, Nabors and Nwevo. Custer will graduate early as well. The hits for graduation came from a few years back when some of the JUCO guys left or were dismissed for obvious reasons.
Agree. The tutors are doing a good job getting players graduated. Roc has nothing to do with that really IMO. I think you give Roc one more year with this young team and if no noticable improvement you let him go. And see what the best you can get is. Hopefully football will be generating enough money to increase the budget quite a bit to spend more for a good coach. I hope we see improvement and we don't have to fire him though.
 6. I say Lamar just wins a lot of games and expands the university in every sport and just take Baylors spot in the Big 12. That seems simple enough to me.
 7. I like Central in this one. I think they have finally got some things figured out and are moving in the right direction.
 8. Wow didn't realize so many great games! I will be at Nederland vs PNG. But I have never been to a Silsbee HJ game. I will make sure I go to their seemingly annual regional final game this year. But as far as picks I think WB rolls. Anahuac rolls. Spurger rolls. WOS rolls. Central rolls. Nederland rolls. And Silsbee wins close!

 10.
Inconsistant logic . . . All he cares about are wins . . . then followed by he only plays his favorites.  Don't you think if he only cared about winning he would play the players that gave him the best chance to win.  So if by "his favorites" you meant the players that gave the team the best chance to win, then yes I would agree.  When I hear things like this I think it must only come from someone who is not a regular starter.  Because no starter would ever say, "I only play/start because I'm one of Coach G's favorites, I really don't belong on the field!"
I never said he only cares about wins. I don't know why he comes up with a soft schedule like that. Maybe the extra home games will generate more money for the program. Im not sure. And the players that are telling me this are starting fielders talking about a few pitchers who they say suck up to Gilligan all the time and get to pitch plenty of innings despite their ERA of over 6.00 while others are sitting in the bullpen with ERA's closer 3.50. That is basic logic that the one who allows less runs should be the one pitching.
 11. The "they're still young" excuse is getting old real fast. That is embarassing.
 12. Brittney Williams was suspended for tonights game because of a violation of team rules. And those of you who haven't seen them play you will be surprised how well they play together and more importantly shoot the rock. They have at least 4 players on the floor that can shoot sometimes 5. Its seems like they make at least 40% from downtown.
 13. I dunno if we have the talent to come back that much no matter what the adjustments are.
