IMHO 1-9 Ozen can't win the district. Yes they have a couple great players who could play for every team in the district but it takes 9 and I dont think Ozen has that.

Cunn has to be our MVP this far through the season. I know Forney is great but we expect constant performances from him. Cunn has came in with no varsity experience and stepped up huge in countless games and did it again last night. Great win to stay atop the district!

And I think you have to mention Shannon Robinson as well as Bernard. Those two went at it in several great games. I think you can't have one on the list without the other

But its real hard to find top caliber teams willing to come play in Beaumont. We got lucky to get Tech to come last year. Even the Creightons of the world would probably make more money having a home game versus Louisiana College two straight years then have a home and home with Lamar.

I have Ozen 5th in district this year behind Ned, PNG, Vidor, and LCM. And as far as winning district, no shot. I know they are returning a lot but so is a whole bunch of other teams in the district who finished the district season better than them.

I just don't think the SID desk that controls the website has time to deal with football right now while they are trying to salvage a basketball season that keeps having declining attendence. Plus with Lamar's budget they are probably short a few people

Lamar is below average college program, true, but the aren't bad. And yes Lamar would like to recruit 4 players from Yates. But if those players came in now maybe one or two see floor time and definitely don't start. Lamar would turn it over several times sure but Yates would be hard pressed to score on Lamars defense. Anybody who thinks Buc Miles, Milk Harris, Charlie Harper, and Justin Nabors wouldn't kill Yates or any other high school team is crazy. And delusional. Yates has 5 potential D1 players. Lamar has already 15 D1 players. This is ridiculous to think they would win. Lamar PA would beat Yates too. Those players are all big time D1 recruits who just couldn't make the grades or something similar. What is the next thread on here going to be? Lakers vs. Yates? Let me guess. You probably think Kobe would have 20 turnovers himself in that game....  ::)  ::)  ::)

Another thing is J'Covan is one of the worst defenders on the team. So at the end of the game when Texas needs a big stop, he won't ever be in the game. Add an attitude problem to that he may see very little of the floor.

The press conference today is just to announce to the public tickets will go on sale on January 23. Sounds like bad timing to announce that. Everyone is worried about Texas Football. Not Lamar Football.

The only thing I would havedone was have a running clock the second half. People who are saying practice other defenses you will need in the state tourney haven't seen Yates play. They have no other defense. It is press press press and then some more press. I doubt they will ever do anything different. Also some people said the football team will have to pay for this? If I remember correctly isn't Yates pretty good at football too? Me personally would have called off the dogs but I understand their philosophy and dont have a problem with it. Lee just needs to practice hard and get better to make sure it doesn't happen again.
