Is their any possibility that they could hire from within the program? What about this Saveat guy? What kind of resume does he have? They could keep a familiar face in the program for their players.

Man it would be something if Boutte lost his final game to Nederland :D Or do you think ozen will come extra hard to play tonight? So many questions... I think Nederland could be walking into a stampede of Ozen players wanting to send their coach out on top.

So is Saveat going to be interum head coach for the rest of the season or is the new head coach for good?

Oh I do to. He has gotten it done something like 5 of the past 10 years. Just didn't last night so I enjoy it as much as I possibly can. ;D But he really is a great player.

As far as I know they all live in Nederland. I know where every Nederland player lives exept for Kelvin. Unless someone has very recently moved without informing me. Plus they all like it a lot here I honestly don't believe they would ever move just to go to Memorial to play basketball for coach Boutte when they have a great coach in Coach English anyway.

I agree! This game will be an eye opener. Definite CONTENDER. Coach Smith will get them going and they have some senior leadership that will get them focused.

I wouldn't doubt he and the rest would transfer. I guess Nederland is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

As a Nederland fan I hope he goes to Memorial. Get him out of our district. But seriously he could do wonders for Memorial if he got that job. I hope he gets it. It could be a start of big turnaround for that whole school district.

Yea they should be in the tournament again this year. And how about Dayton ex Henry Dugat? starting for a fourth year in a row. Scott Drew, great coach, has this team moving in the right direction.

Yea Texas State is getting better at every sport it seems each year. They are going D1 in football in like two years. Im not surprised it was this close. They have some athletes. Granted Texas still should've won by more.

Good win Lumberton. They just seemed to play with more intensity tonight. And with two relatively even matched teams it often times is the difference. Nederland will have to step it up to get in the playoffs. If Lumberton keeps playing like that they will get better and be back in yet again.

I agree. Lamar was a nice location but the Merrill center is truely a nice facility and a more central location for teams I think.

Yes thats what he is supposed to do. But when those shooters aren't getting open because someone is staying with them they have no way of scoring since they can't get to the basket. Thats when they must rely on Chris and Francis to penetrate and score and put up 20 points to keep them in the game.

I read and overheard several fans who really don't like his aggressive coaching style. But if gets this team to the playoffs this year which is very achievable, they will all have no room to talk.

Can you do that? ...The Lamar State facility is a very nice venue...Don't you think so? All first round games held at the Parker Center and use THE NEW PA Memorial campus as an alternative sight for consolation bracket games...Sounds like a plan..Lets get on it folks!! Well why don't we still have the YMBL at Lamar Beaumont and have another big tourney in PA. Like the James Gamble Classic or something. That way we get mor basketball and I think we all like that!

They only thing is Nederland is not a team who forces many shots. They are great shooters who are great on kick outs but they don't create for themselves much. Really only Chris, Francis, and Dionte on the low blocks can get a decent shot off while being closely defended. You still have to rely on them to create to free up all the open looks for Pitts, Fitch, and Dean. Also I would really like to see Dean, Kelvin, and Christian crash the offensive boards more. Often times they are just standing around 15 feet away just watching. They need to get inside, box someone out, and get some second chance points. They will do it occasionally but not nearly enough.

Your supposed to have a student/faculty parking permit to park there. I wouldn't pay the ticket for that though. I mean, that's where all the other fans parked at. Also, I was driving the fiance's car and she is enrolled at LU and had her LU rear view mirror thingy. Im a Lamar student and those guys are crazy about parking!! Its like their whole life revolves around giving parking tickets! The senior parking lot in front of Mcdonalds gym is reserved for seniors until noon when anyone can park there. I pulled in at 11:52 the other day thinking no big deal I am 8 minutes early. When I return I have a ticket that was issued at 11:58. Crazy. But just don't pay it. There is absolutely nothing they can do since you're not a student.

OF is good but I can't put them in the playoffs and take them too seriously until they win a close game. They are playing some quality opponents but it seems they never can get it done in the clutch.

I can't believe I'm saying this but i actually think Nederland will beat Lumberton. Who would've thought that a couple years ago? Last year everyone wanted coach Smith fired. But give him time to get the girls believing in him and he will take them far. Ned fans biggest worry shouldn't be how soon can we get rid of coach smith but that coach english may finally convince him to come be an assistant on the boys side.

i hate to do this because i know im always so disrespectful but... i know another team that has beaten anyone worth mentioning... and btw OF doesnt have my respects... I'm assuming you mean HJ, but how can OF have your respect and not HJ? That makes absolutely no sense.
