Actually this was his 3rd season and they are 23-10 under AC. Still pretty good considering where they were the 40 years before! I'm sorry I got confused. I was posting about Danny Malone's success at PNG. We were talking about his last year when they lost in the playoffs to...you guest it...LA Marque!!! Alvin's new school. I'm just curious, why are you so giddy and excited when you talk about Alvin leaving Lumberton and going to LaMarque? Is it because you are from LaMarque or a fan of the Cougars or because you don't want to see Lumberton succeed and really don't like Lumberton or what? What is it, just curious? You just seem to get so pumped up and excited when you talk about this topic. You seem to really want to be noticed for allegedly having this BREAKING NEWS from your INSIDE SOURCES like your Dan Rather or something. You seem to really want attention for being a know it all. There is an order to politics...everything has to run it's course. Maybe they should use whatever order PNG used to get it done........now. Maybe Matt Burnett is smarter than he is given credit for and took it upon himself to make the process go as smoothly as he could for the school that he cares about. He has certainly been a great coach at PNG and handled himself with class in his reassignment. Apparently that's not "in the order of politics" everywhere. : Yea right, I can see it now, the company you work for hires a young go getter that does your job better than you do and you go ahead and resign instead of letting the company run you off because you have loyalty for your employer. They would have had a complex cordinator anyway. Look at these other schools. Heck, they can keep him in the wings so when the next coach comes in and doesn't do so hot. They can just slide him back in as HC. They better give this new head coach the AD position as well or the list of candidates may not be as impressive as most people may think.

They dont need to drag their feet on hiring someone. The new coach needs time to get acclimated. When Nederland hired Bobby August, the first time the players met him was the day befor 2-a-days started. MISTAKE!

I agree Cornhusker, Burnet did coach at Nederland before he went to PNG and was very well respected. I just dont know if he can find it in himself to slip the Black and Gold on again. I personally think he will end up coaching at Lamar under Woodard after he serves out his contract.

With so much talk lately about upcoming talent. It looks to me like WOS, Lumberton, and Nederland have the bragging rights. I don't put much in 8 - 10 year olds( a lot can change), but must say C.O. Wilsons 8th graders has some of the best talent I have ever seen at Nederland.I would expect big thithings from these kids. I would put more into it than you think success starts somewhere if they can get the coaches in at the lower levels then it can carry up to the higher levels I agree NewIndian

??? Do you really not understand what she is saying? I understand. :-\ :-\ . Was that sarcasism? District 204A is so competitive that coaching is the difference. Look at Nederland year in and year out and at the same time look at Ozen. I promise Ozen usually puts some very talented kids on the field but coahing has failed them. I believe everyone on this board knows Matt Burnett doesn't play , he coaches. It is ultimately up to the kids to win but the guidance from the coach can be the difference most of the time. No sarcasm just questioning the theory. He is right about Ozen, they have pumped out several D1 players and have had limited success in the playoffs since they have been in existence. The truth is when you take a head coaching job, you take full responsibility for failure and you credit the the kids and your assistants for the success. That is what MB did on a consistant basis.

I hate to see Burnett never get a win at the state of the art stadium he fought so hard to get. Too bad for the Lumberton that they will lose their savior to a brand new state of the art stadium and a beefed up salary. Money talks, I dont give a crap where you are from. Its gonna get crazy!!!!

I still cant help but to think that Credeur would not be a front-runner for the PNG job should it come open. I find it even harder to beleive that he would leave his home town where they would probably build a statue of him if he asked for an assistants job.

He was probably one of the best OC in the area. Grant it DL was a heck of a QB but Coach Long had just as much to do with the sucess of that offfense than anyone else. Answer me this. Why would you hire a head coach who had a worse record than the guy you are getting rid of? Kelly Bulldogs went 2-6 this year. PNG went 3-6 Well first off im not saying they should hire him. I think alot of poeple are throwing Long's name out there because of the history he has with the program. Im sorry you cant compare Kelly's program to PNG. (nothing against the kids or program against Kelly) but I think Long would have more sucess at PNG cause there is more talent to work with there. Point well taken although you just hacked a bunch of Kelly Bulldogs off. If this does happen, I bet there will be some big names apply for the job. It will be interesting to see who all throws their name in the hat.
