said it once, and will say it again ,nothing against Nederland ,but they will lose to Ozen and Central by seasons end, just my opinion.
And u think this will happen because??
Central and Nederland finish district tied at 13-1. End of story.
The Mighty One has spoken-lol! ;D You also predicted that Central would defeat Nederland a couple of weeks ago, and i believe (not sure) that you predicted that Ozen would too. Neither happened, so it's not the end of the story! Let the debate continue! ;)
I'm not hoping they lose a district game. I actually have a feeling that they will. Central is the second place team in this district and have athletisism and size to beat Nederland just as they've done already this season. THAT is why I don't think Nederland won't go undefeated. I did also stated that Nederland may win district again because Central will stumble along the way, probably on a jetlag game AFTER Beating Nederland.
Earlier u said that Ozen will prob beat Central on Tuesday bc it's hard to beat a team 4 times. So u think they lose to Ozen, beat Ned, then lose to Vidor (from Jet Lag)? I don't see that happening. I do think Ozen will beat Central Tuesday, but I don't see Nederland losing a district game to either one of them. Too many weapons on offense, Ned can play man or zone on defense, and Coach English is the X-Factor who continues to prove why he is one of the best, if not THE best in the area.

You guys kill me.
Isn't that a Nederland guy that made the thread?
Yes, I'm a Nederland guy. I certainly am not predicting a loss! I simply meant for the thread to pertain to going undefeated the 1st half of district........but it sure seems there are a lot out there hoping Nederland loses one soon...and that's just the way we like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that's normal for the 2nd and 3rd place teams wanting/expecting the 1st place team to lose. If the roles were reversed, I would be predicting that Central/Ozen would lose in the 2nd half of district too.

I just think that had they beaten Silsbee, they wouldn't even blink at the prospect of playing WOS. they'd assume that nobody could beat them. now that they've lost a game, i think it will help refocus them on the fact that they have to come out and play well every game.
That's probably the best assessment I've heard so far regarding 'The Game'. Simple and to the point. Not losing for 27 straight games gives one the feeling of being invincible. The kids would probably not agree with me, but that loss was good for them so they realize that they CAN be defeated. Some HJ fans have said this too. Not that they were arrogant, IMO, but this WILL get them refocused as Bullets said. Good luck to [s]both[/s] all 3 teams, since y'all finally believe me when I said last month that WO-S was legit! ;D
I've known that WOS is very legit for quite sometime. Seen them play many times this season, since back in first week of Dec. They are a very good team with a very good coach.
They were playing short-handed in the YMBL and Bulldog Classic, and it showed. MOST people were ignoring them, claiming they were not good, and said HF or OF will prob capture 3rd in that district. They are a completely different team now, and it showed against Ned, PAM, and Silsbee. They will be a tough 'out' once the playoffs begin. BTW, AAW-Which district matches up against 21-3A in the 1st round of the playoffs?
22-3A Coldspring Cleveland Splendora This is who I think will be the playoff teams out of that district, in that order.
Have not seen CS play, can or will WO-S/HF beat them?
They may not have to play them. 1st place team get's a bye. #2 plays #3 from each district in Bi-District round. I have seen all three of those teams play. Coldspring is very good, good enough to give HJ and Silsbee all they can handle. Coldspring is a better team than WOS and HF.
Oh ya, I forgot that the 1st place team gets a bye. So who will CS play after their bye, and who will the 21-3A dist champ play? The winner of the 2/3 winner of which 2 districts? -

Future is very bright at Central, not just Nederland.
I didn't say the future is not bright at Central, did I? I stated the reality of what is happening in Nederland. On Tuesday night, Nederland's Freshman beat Ozen by 15, the JV won by 11, and the Varsity won as well. I watched MLK 8th grade team defeat a very good CO Wilson team by 40 points or so. I know Beaumont has talent, and I never said they didn't.

W hen Yates scored 140 points a couple of years ago and their opponent scored 32, the score gained NATIONAL headlines. Point spread means NOTHING in HS basketball. Ask any coach that has class, and they will tell u the same. If they pressed in the 4th with the 1st team, with a 40-50 point lead, shame on them. If their reserves were in the game, then I have no problem with them improving their game. Nederland girls need to improve, no doubt, but at some point the opposing coach needs to realize the morale of the girls. Who knows, in a few years, Nederland girls might be beating the Ozen girls just like what has happened on the boys side. [glow=red,2,300]Maybe getting beat so badly will motivate some girls and parents to make girls basketball in Nederland back to a more competitive level.[/glow]
I agree that motivation should start with the girls, but how can you be motivated when you know your coach doesn't even want to be there? In the end it's up to the coach to make the program better. Speaking from experience.
I've seen some teams in Nederland (all sports) who were suppose to be average or below average. They were told that they were not going to do anything with the current team, etc. These kids decided to take things in their hands and make sure that didn't happen. They worked in the offseason harder than normal. These kids met daily during the summer to practice and improve without the help of the coach. They ended up having outstanding seasons. Too many people want to rely on and blame the coach. At the HS level, a little extra will go a long way. If kids are passionate enough about it, they will go the extra mile. -

The Hawks won that one by a 45 point margin on their court. Playing at WO-S, I don't think the margin of victory will be 18 points. Hardin-Jefferson is the BEST TEAM in 21-3A - but don't underestimate the 'Stangs in their own house. :-X
I hear ya, and I've seen the Stangs play 6-7 games this season. The last one was with their full squad after they got their FB players back, and they are now much improved. I still think the Hawks have something to prove even though they played a game since Silsbee. -
