What is the reason for pointing this out? This list includes most of the area under 'The Golden Triangle'. Beaumont, PA, and Orange are the towns that make up 'The Golden Triangle'. Yes there are other schools in the area, but the area covered comprises about 75% of the population of 'SETX'. BTW-Where does SETX stop? Crosby? Dayton? Livingston? Fred?
He said that because they didn't cover a school who made it 3 rounds deep in the playoffs and some people were starting to ask question. Some people think its personal. Why would you cover everyone else but Vidor in the area. And if i'm wrong please name a big school in our area that got the same amount of attention as us that they didn't cover.
It just sounded to me that he was discrediting the kids who made the list. When the Orange Leader came out with their list, I accepted it as it was. I've never read the OL, and most people in Nederland probably haven't either. I don't think anyone was wondering where the Nederland kids where on that list. The PA News is very popular (or it use to be) in mid-county. When the Houston Chronicle puts out their list, people in Dallas don't question their choices. The PA News has a certain geography they cover just like the OL. This has been this way for 25+ years.

Don't know what BC pays but I'm sure it would be more than an underling position at Atascocita. Personally, I just wouldn't want to answer to my brother.
Yes, that's his name. I didn't know there was a third son named Ron, however. Coaching together sounds more appealing than 'working for' your brother. Craig could be the Head coach, and Chris could be his DC (or OC), and that would be more working together. I hear what you are saying though. Chris has a HC job already, why would he take a demotion? I agree, I don't see him moving his family to Atascocita to be a coach other than a HC.
Thanks SoulJa, appreciate the words. You always have been the voice of reason on the boards and supportive of all the kids. Now, quit trying to steal our coaches to Beaumont. Nederland already has done that to us....
It was bound to happen sooner or later. English was determined to get back to Nederland to coach his boys.  I'm glad for him that it happened early enough to where he could make an impact for his boys to thrive under his program.

I'm not a physician, and I don't criticize them. I'm also not a refinery operator, so I don't criticize them. If I were a coach, physician, or operator, I believe that I would be very knowledgable in my field of work. If that were the case, then I would feel like I had the right to criticize the line of work in which I have actual experience doing.
Nice post, Dog.  But I have a problem with a refinery operator who thinks he can do a better job than a 5A coach in Texas.  My word to them is to get out of your comfort level and give it a try.  Seems like few are willing?
I agree with you Tigersvoice! It's not nearly as easy as some people think...

He won games off of talent, never his coaching ability. He got too much credit for wins and never enough credit for the loses. Atascocita will be looking for a new coach in three years when they fire Stump for losing.
I don't have a dog in this hunt, but you can't have it both ways. Either you give credit to the coach when they win and blame him when they lose or give the kids credit for the wins/losses. If the talent was so good (as u claim), then don't you think the team could overcome bad coaching? So does the Ciabalo Steele team who beat PAM by 20+ points have a good coach or is it pure talent? A TEAM can have all of the talent in the world (see Miami Heat), yet not win. It's not always the coaches fault, but many on this board LOVE to point the finger at the coach. I'm not just talking about this thread, but I see it all of the time (not just football coaches). It's kinda like the Monday morning QB! All of you who come on this board and talk negatively about coaches, I have a question for you: What is keeping you from applying for this opening to see what it takes to be a coach? Why did you not get into coaching in the first place if you think you could do a better job?
No talent can not always overcome bad coaching. I didn't get into coaching because it doesn't pay enough. Exxonmobil is paying me six figures to be an operator. And yes I believe I could do as well as he did, if not better.
Any job openings out there at ExxonMobile?  ;D These coaches dedicate a HUGE chunk of their lives to coaching. Their hours are comparable to a physician, but the pay is not near as much. They provide so much to a kid's life which follows them throughout their lives. Winning is important, no doubt, but the coach can't do it all. We should all appreciate the dedication they give to our kids. I have a lot of friends who are coaches, and they barely spend time with their families b/c of the 100s of hours they work every week. I'm sure Coach Stump could have done something else with his career and made more money like you and me. But he chose the coaching profession, and I respect him for that. It takes a special person to be a HS coach.
 9.
Maybe a degree and teaching certificate?
I hear ya BigRed! My point is that it's easy to sit back and criticize a coach, but until one coaches a team, they haven't a clue of the dynamics of the position.

 11. They are much more populated than SETX. There are over 6 million people in Houston and it's suburbs. SETX has about 500-600k?

 13.
I have a co-worker who is absolutly thrilled to see Stump go but on the other hand does not like "Butch" at all. He says that Stump played his favorites and left some great ones on the bench. He also cannot stand the stadium being named what it is. I dont really have an opinion on Stump but would love to know why he left although I know i will never find out. As far as Thomas is concerned I guess that id for you Beaumont folks to work out. Hope you all get a great replacment.
It's laughable when someone says a coach only plays his 'favorites'! Just wonder if your co-worker has ever coached a HS team before? Doesn't he know that coaches want and need to win in order to keep their job(s)? A coach will do anything he can to give his team the best possible chance of winning. Most of the time people make these comments when they have a kid of their own who played for a particular coach but did not get much PT. I didn't play for this Coach Stump, but I did play for his dad and his brother. I never saw them play their 'favorites'.
 14. Kinda messed up that the defending champs (Nederland) are in the same Pool (D) as last year's 1st runner up (Baytown Sterling). Not sure how B. Hill sets up their brackets, but it seems like these two teams should have been placed in different brackets, IMO.
 15. Here is the GCC tournament pool play schedule for next week's tournament at The Hill. [Hidden Content](Boys%20%20Girls)%20updated.pdf

 18.
WOS is starting two sophmores.  They are getting better each week and are coached well. I see good things for them this year.
Didn't WOS also just add a few players from the FB team about two weeks ago? I'm sure they are starting to 'find their groove'.
 19.
I wasn't there tonight but other than just holding the ball, I am not sure the Tigers can do much in a case like this.  If we didn't press and played zone the entire second half not much more can be done assuming our player rotation was followed.  Last week at least in the first half we played everyone in the same manner as Sigler did the year the Tigers went undefeated in the regular season.  The second half oof that game was a little different.  I would imagine he foolowed that rotation the whole game tonight if not even playing the starters less.
Playing zone, rotating players and still score 46 points in one half?? I was not there either, but that's hard to believe. I'm not one to feel sorry for a team losing badly, but at some point, you should pull your starters and play Ur 2nd and 3rd teamers. Maybe the coach did that-I don't know. I remember a couple of years ago, Yates got some National attention (negatively) for beating teams by 100 points. Since then, they have not done that.

Good job dogs.
Reality check: Yall almost lost to a 3-A school ::)
Key word: ALMOST.  Correct me if Im wrong, doesnt it go down in the books as a WIN?? By the way Dove Ozen almost won against Central....So, I guess its better to "almost lose" than it is to "almost win".  ;D :o
BOOM!  :o :o BTW-Ned AND Central already lost to the #1 3A team in the state, and I guarantee that Ozen would lose to HJ too!
 21.
Don't think Lamar can compete yet locally with recruitung with all the BiG 12 schools or Sam Houstons. I think what would help Lamar would be some coach changes.
Coaching changes? What is wrong with their coaches? I don't know ANY of them, but this program has not existed for the past 20+ years! They need more than 2 seasons to build a program from scratch! Come on Badsanta, go back to the basketball board where [s]u know a little bit[/s]...well, u don't know much on that board either!
 22. Ned was flat and appeared uninterested tonight. They need to learn that just b/c you beat a team by 20(+) and 30 does not mean an automatic victory the 3rd time. Dogs now have a week to rest before their next game against Baytown Sterling Tuesday, December 27th at The Gulf Coast Invitational Tournament at Barber's Hill. Ned beat Btwn Sterling in the Finals last year. Surprised they play them in the first round this year?? If they are going to bring home the hardware, they are going to have to play a lot better than they did tonight. Gotta give credit to WO-S for playing hard tonight and not being intimidated. They should be the favorite to capture 3rd in the toughest 3A district in the state of Texas, IMO.
 23. Jamier Rodgers takes it to the hole. Ball rolls around and drops at the buzzer. Nederland wins Final Ned 55 WO-S 53
 24. 14 secs Ned 53 WOS 52 Weisbrod shooting 1-1 Missed! He's missed about 10 tonight. Not sure what's wrong with his shot. Time out WOS
