2. Good TEAM win: Weisbrod 18 Lubera 16 English 14 Lormier 14
 3.
Too many turnovers! And too many missed 3s!
U are correct. Don't think WOS has made a 3 the entire game. Great athletes on WOS but nobody can shoot. 57-21
 4. Dawgs takin care of business. 37-8 with :40 secs remaining 42-10 at half
 5. Elam and Holmes are fun to watch. Quick and explosive!
 6. Not sure why Silsbee keeps driving against 6'7" & 6'10"? Tigers 21 Warriors 19 4 min remain
 7. Good game so far. Silsbee up 11-8. Bigs for HCYA gonna be tough to contain for remaining of game, but they may not have an answer for Silsbee's guards. Now 15-10
 8. PNG settling down now. Take a 33-32 lead.
 9. More TOs and bad shots by PNG: Sterling 30 PNG 27
 10. Sterling comes out with pressure. PNG with 3 consecutive TOs. Cut the lead to 25-21
 11. End of 1st: PNG 11 Baytown Sterling 8 Sterling coach pulled 1st team after 2 min and played 2nd team the final 4.
Is PA-M struggling because they need their football players back to play basketball or have they been missing other players that are not playing this season or they just inexperience this year. They did go to the final of the Silsbee Summer Tournament. Ever since Coach William took over PA-M, I had my thought that PA-M were going to be a team they many would not want to compete because they could not hang with them. What is the deal?
Just like most teams around here, they are a very young team. 3 seniors on the team.
 13.
Wow, I kind of know whats going on also but I will say this, drama is everywhere. Parents are out of control and have pretty much destroyed the purest form of sports which is high school. So glad my kids are out of high school.
I agree to some level, b/c I have seen a lot of parents whine about little Johnny not getting enough PT, and it's pathetic. If your kid is not playing, tell him to practice more and try harder. I believe a big reason HS sports is no longer the purest forms of sport is b/c coaches recruit (like college) and parents send their kids to another school for a better opportunity. I understand why a parent may send his/her child to another school, but I am still against it. I guess I don't like it, b/c that is not the way it was when I was in school 25 years ago. You represented your community, and nobody ever considered transferring for athletic purposes. The ONLY reason one would change schools is when your parents had to move for an out of town opportunity for work. Now kids change teams like a NBA player. I remember when the team I played for wasn't very good one year, so we got together and made a difference by playing all summer long. There was a guy (now coach-won't name him b/c i don't want to hijack the thread) who called everyone daily to tell them when and where we were meeting to play. Without his leadership, we would have stunk again. Back then, we didn't have summer leagues, tourneys, AAU, etc. We ended up going to the playoffs that year. My point is that instead of just working harder (these days), people look for the easy way out (and that is towards life choices in general, not just sports). This mentality will continue in their lives which will lead to a lack of loyalty for their job, team, family.  8)

 15.
This isn't a blow like most expected!
Probably allowing other kids get some PT.

Remember, this team is young. There were 2 sophs and 3 juniors on the floor quite a bit. Great job!!
And? North Shore starting guards are sophmores.
What big team have they beaten? Hightower? Hightower is not the same team like last year that went to Austin.
Dove, it's really too bad Ozen isn't playing well right now. Then maybe you could spend more time singing their praises and less time being so critical of other teams. My advice would be to start following that Ozen girls team....they are GOOD.
After watching Ozen's girls play, I think you are on to something. More exciting & more hustle. ;D
The girls championship was exciting and fast paced, unlike the boys where north shore would have been content to hold the ball all game. I prefer a fast paced game. I know, north shore won, but that type of basketball is somewhat boring.
I agree  :o But Nederland wanted to sit back in their zone. N.S. guards are too quick and can shoot off the dribble. N.S. played a smart game.
Dove-Hightower tried the same thing that NS did when they were up by 5. They stood at mid court with the ball on their hips and waited for Nederland to come out. Nederland contained House enough, and they came back and beat them. So, I don't think the NS guards were any quicker than the HT guards...
 19. Anyone know what kind of talent Steele has? Are they big? Fast? Do they run? Pass? Both? Who is in their district , and who did they beat to get to the Semis?

 21. Hey Soulja-Check out this short clip about him. Not sure who they are playing, but i don't think it matters. This kid/man will be a tough matchup for any team! [Hidden Content]

So one COULD conclude that Nederland beat the #1 seed to make it to the finals. Memorial was also in our bracket, but LCM sent them to the Loser's bracket. When the people made this schedule, they did not know PAM would be struggling this early on. And in case you didn't see the game (which i know you didn't), in the 3rd place game, Lufkin lead Kimball the entire game until the end of the 4th Q! So Lufkin, also a 5A team, may be better than you think. But then again, it doesn't help to speak logic to someone who is not logical! Good luck to your [s]Horns[/s], Panthers, or whoever the next team you choose to support. I've supported the Nederland Bulldogs for all 44 years of my life!
I will say this about the Dallas Kimball/Lufkin game. That was not the Dalllas Kimball team that played the first two games of the tourney. They were just going through the motions against Lufkin for the first 3 quarters, never pressing one second of the game until the middle of the 4th. I believe it was because Royce Johnson, coach of Kimball, was still pissed about losing to North Shore. He never got off the bench during the game up until the 4th and they rotated players in and out much differently than in the previous two games. It was obvious they really didn't care about the game. What most folks don't know, Coach Johnson was threatening to quit the tourney (not play in 3rd place game) and never return to this tournament because he felt the officials (both on and off the court) were against his team. (I heard this first hand as I was back near the hospitality room where this conversation was taking place) Coach Johnson thought the foul calls were too one-sided and he questioned the bracket lay out. Needless to say, we probably won't see Dallas Kimball back at the YMBL. I think Ned's path to the finals became easier when both Central, PAM and Ozen lost in the first round. But, they took care of business and they did beat Hightower who had just come off beating down Central. ;)
I did notice they weren't pressing. I thought they were just mad they lost. Didn't kmow the coach was upset over the officials. Goes to tell u there is always another side to the story. According to the score, it sounded like Hightower handled Central fairly easily. Was Central ever in the game? In the preseason poll, i picked Central as being one of the top 2 schools in 20-4A, and i still believe they will finish 1st or 2nd. But Nederland played a great game and beat that same HT team. To discount their victory over HT would be ignorant IMO!  ;)
We were in the game.  We were actually up at the end of the first period.  We allpwed # 23 to get going by not holding him tigt after hit crossed halfcourt.  We'd guard him only when he was close to the three point line when obviously, this kid have range when he was hitting shots well past the NBA range.    After that, he was heated up and begin to take our players on one on one in the 4th... We NEVER brought a double team to take the ball out his hands or anything. Also, on offense, we never ran any plays to get K.Smith opened.  Everything he got, he had to earn it. Obviously, they know which player to watch.  We'll be fine, though.  I still think we'll have a good showing at the Nederland Tourney, though.
Not a lot U can do when they have that kind of range. HIghtower did the same against Ned and took English out of the game by having their tall, long kid cover English. What they didn't plan on was Lubera getting hot from 3 Land and scoring 18. Ur Jags have a solid team, for sure. I hear that The Village is pretty talented too, and that's who Central will face in the 2nd round. Look forward to watching that game and the Ned/Silsbee matchup (they both have to reach the semis for that to happen).
We still have to beat Memorial, though.  This Village team...  What type of team are they?  Tall and lanky, Much size, or a quick guard type team?
They have a huge 'kid'/man who is 6'9" and is ranked as the 13th best Center in the country. He has verbally committed to Maryland! They beat HCYA by 28 and Lamar Consolidated by 12. His name just happens to be Shaquille! Not sure what else they have, but Dogs1218 or BlueDove may know other kids they have on their team who they watched play this past summer.

 24.
Nederland's win over FBH was impressive, yet they should have won. They were the better team. 23 did NOTHING to help his team. He was obviously the best player on the court, but didn't work to beat the box and 1. North Shore obviously did their homework. They stalled and pulled the ball out when possible and made Nederland guard them man to man. Nederland played extremely tough in the tournament, and adding 14 and 12 has made a huge impact.
Agree! 14 was playing football until last week, and 12 broke his hand the week before the season began. They are both good players.
