With so many young teams in the area, we may see more unexpected close games such as last night in the Lumberton/PAM game. -
Question About Local Basketball

As you know, Dove, Nederland is young. Starting line up is: Senior Jr Jr Jr Soph Bench players: 3 Seniors 4 Jrs 1 Soph Good observation on your part (for once)-ha! ;) Seems to be a lot of young teams in the area. -

Because PNG is a 4a team?
Personally, I think all wins are good. Why you being a hater? ;)
Not being a hater AAW. Just trying to get some conversation going! :)

Will be interesting Monday night regardless of who wins. HJ beats Nederland...well it's Nederland and they're still playing FB, come on man! If Nederland beats HJ, then some will say...it's a 3A team, come on man! ::) Rather comical if you ask me! ;)
Either way, the wrath of this forum will come down on the loser of this great event ;D
I would be disappointed if it were any different! ;D

Good luck with that. I think it has been shown that there are more than just two good players for Nederland this year. When your best two players struggle and you still win by 20 points, that pretty much sums it up.

coach E better get #21 under control.several wild drives to the basket from half court that resulted in badly missed shots or a turn over,0 for 7 on 3's(definantly not an outside shooter) & crying to refs about a foul while the other team is scoring at the other end.#40,#11 & #35 are very good players,#10 has to show up to play for 4 quarters.subs came in & played hard.if #21 becomes a better TEAM player instead of trying to be allen iverson nederland will be a very solid team.
Play for 4Quarters? Not sure what game you were watching, but #10 brought the ball up the court the entire time he was in the game, and never threw the ball away. Without him bringing the ball up the court, we might lose that game on TOs and fast break points. Yes, he missed some shots that normally fall for him, but that happens. #21 is probably their best player, and i think he felt he had to do more than usual, and he tried to put everything on his shoulders. Yes, he did miss a lot of 3's, but apparently you haven't seen him or #10 play much. They both normally make a majority of their shots (wherever they are on the floor). Judging these guys by one game is not a fair assessment of their talents.
Agreed. 10 took care of the ball and pushed the floor that led to fast break points. He'll still have to get better against quicker and faster teams for Nederland to be successful.
Okay forum, you're saying way too much. We don't want too many Nederland fans knowing how they will get beaten

The St. Pius kids are good. But St. Pius is a football school for those who don't know. They are trying to build their basketball program. Again, the suburban kid is a catch word in reference to a mind set. I use towards my kids as well. Those who want it (hood) and those who would rather play X-Box (suburban). Get it? :-\ Oh nevamind
They may be a Football school, i have no idea. Don't keep up with that. I do know that they had two players who graduated last year who went on to play college BBall, and this year's team has a D1 commit to San Diego, another who has the physical tools to dominate (#50), and another who is highly ranked in the Greater Houston area (#4). Isn't that what you look for Dove, Individual talent? Also have some promising Freshmen on JV (including Sheryl Swoops son). Nederland's JV just a much better 'team'. I like what AAW said on another thread about one magazine ranking 'teams' vs the other who emphasizes players and individualism. I know which one i'm going to listen to regardless if 'Da Magazine' said that Nederland will sweep through district again. I don't think that's going to happen, but I would certainly welcome it (again). That's why we play the games.
#50 did nothing, but looked great coming off the bus. #4 did a little more than nothing. English and Weisbrod are pretty good, but not great...yet. St. Pius's 2 were shut down by Nederland's defense which left English and Weisbrod matched up against those 2 in the 1-2-2 defense they played.
I agree. #50 was intimidating, but did nothing. That's why i said he has the physical tools to be good. My other point is that #4 is highly ranked amongst PGs in Houston, and he did nothing against Ned. The few times he penetrated the zone, he was met by two 6'5 kids down low. 'Da Magazine' had St.Pius ranked 26 in the Houston area in 5A, 4A, 3A, and Private schools. They have Ned at 27 in the greater Houston area. They have never seen Ned play, but they have seen English and Weisbrod play. I think they must rank 'teams' according to individual talent from players they watch over the summer in the AAU world?? BTW-Can someone please figure out a way to put this on the Ned/St. Pius thread? 8) -

Pick up games vs Durant, TJ, DJ, James, Hamilton etc... You tend to get better not worst.
Oh! Yes, of course. Sorry Santa, i thought you were saying he is not good (right now). I agree! I would say he is a lot better today than he was 3-4 years ago, for sure!
won that game without their best player
What number is he? I watched them play a couple of games last year in the Bulldog Classic in Nederland. They had some athletes, but they were young and small. -

HF/Vidor thread got hijacked by St. Pius/Ned talk. Copied and pasted from that thread. St. Pius was not very good. The point guard did a lot of juking, but never went anywhere. They had some big guys, but none of them could score. Nederland played a 1-2-2, but really squezed the middle since St. Pius put someone running from elbow to elbow. This left their wings open for 3's after one pass. Rarely did they attempt a 3, and didn't make the ones they attempted. St. Pius pressed Nederland, but Nederland was too quick and broke it every time. Ball went to the middle, and they ran the floor. Weisbrod's FG percentage MUST go up.
This guy is correct! So Nederland don't get too excited just yet.
Trust me, we are not too excited yet. It was a good win, but there is much work to be done. I have complete faith that Coach English will address the issues, and the team will play better against HJ on Monday night. 8)
