3. I lived in Houston for over 10 years, and I go there every week for business. Houston is very 'patchy'. You can have a $2M home on one street, walk 3-4 blocks, and have a 'rough patch'. The location where U of H sits is not considered to be one of the nicer parts of the city. I'm not 'dissin' the area, I'm just making an observation.
 4.
So, is the University of Houston considered a "rough area" too? It sits DIRECTLY across the street... ::)
Yes. U of H is also considered a "rough area" -IMO.
 5. I know the coaches' name, I just don't know him personally, so i'm not gonna question his character.

We all know that they did not end up at Yates by chance. Anyone who believes that is about as naive as you can be. You don't see a lot of 6'10" people who go to school for communication purposes. I'm not saying the coach himself is the one who is recruiting, b/c I don't know their coach, but someone could be doing it on his behalf. It sounds dirty to me. Again, when did HS basketball start becoming college programs by recruiting kids?
Yates high school basketball coach is none other than Greg Wise, Mr. AAU. He coaches an elite AAU team (of course none of those players on his AAU team play at Yates or that would be illegal ::)) but that doesn't keep him from............ ;) :D
6.
There is recruiting all over, that I do not dispute. A lot of transfers happened over the summer.      I"m just saying, these boys were not recruited by Yates.  There is a story, but I will not put it in print. Do private schools recruit? I heard Westbury Christian added a few horses to their stable.
But it is LEGAL for private schools to recruit. Transfers b/c parents move is a part of life. Moving to a school for athletic purposes is just plain wrong. And don't give me this silly story about communications, come on now (funny though). My great uncle moved (b4 school started) back in the 60s. His son who played 3 sports had to sit out his senior yr.

May want to put Michael Shaw from Nederland on this list. He caught 6 balls for 73 yds and 2 TDs in his 1st Varsity game against a strong WO-S opponent.
Not being rude...but not quite
You may not agree that he is THE best, but I understand why he got a mention from NHS1990. Scoring 2 TDs against one of the best programs in the area shows that he has potential to be one of the best WRs in the area. Maybe that's what 1990 was saying. Will have to wait a few more games to see if he is for real.
 9. So... we have the NBA where players get paid-IMO-way too much. Then, instead of recruiting players for college, they are now being paid to play college ball like the pros. And now we have High Schools recruiting (like college does) players not only from one school to the next, but internationally?!?! This is waaayy out of hand. When and where is it going to stop? Before we know it, High School kids will be getting paid. Maybe I'm being naive, maybe it's already happening? Kids are being used too much by people who do not have their best interest at hand.
 10. Wouldn't read into it too much. Great game, great win for the Dogs, but we must stay hungry week to week. Rankings don't mean a whole lot IMO, especially this early in the season. Does look like we have great potential to make a deep run though!

 12. You can thank The Bulldog Classic in Nederland for the match up against Ball.  ;D

What I mean is I remember when the tigers played Channelview and won their tournament and the smiley games and the 5a tournament in Georgetown and winning the Lufkin pineywood and American  press tournament in lake Charles those were fun times I know time has changed but just wondering
Silsbee played Galveston Ball close last year. Want more action I see!
13. Thanks for the reminder. I have a meeting with two bank managers this week regarding that concern.  ::) Does he have a bank preference or will any bank be fine?

I was really looking forward to the HF/Nederland game that is scheduled for this year.  :( Now we get to deal with Da Dove twice a year!  >:( Thanks Nash!  ;)
All I can tell you, Abe, is that you had better have conveniently located ATM machines or Dove will file a complaint. 14.
Nederland gets the refs again ,  I would hate to win that way . *mod edit for player bashing
A win is a win no matter how you get it. U lose some games from bad calls, and u win some from bad calls. It's always been a part of the game, and always will be.
 15. Refs are a part of every game. Deal with it!
I could tell you 100 reasons why nederland won that game and none of them have to do with the players haha. But no way that game should have been that close, wos dominated the whole game. But thats what happens when you leave a team in the game and dont put them away! Some of the wildest officiating calls ive ever seen lol. Never seen a kickoff return blown dead for no reason. And ive never seen a guy catch a pass and land a yard out of bounds and call him in. And ive never seen a highschool player catch a pass and fall then roll into the endzone hahaha but owell its over and on to the next! Good game bulldogs for sticking around. And as for us stangs lets get after it cause if we dont Show up and play 4 solid quarters next week we will be 0-2! Lets not let that happen! haha
20. I just remember losing to them, and it seemed like they won district JUST ABOUT every year starting in 1986 (I think that was when they joined 20-4A) through 2000. I'm sure WOSgrad has that information somewhere.  :) [q uote author=BMTSoulja1 link=topic=86947.msg1039633#msg1039633  date=1314099561]

If wos was in 20-4a would they be a playoff team? ;D
Of course they would be. They would prob win district every year like they did when they were in 20-4A.
Really?  Because they sure in the heck didn't do it since Central have been in the local district since 2002. Mater of fact, they missed the playoffs as well.

the best returning D (from last yr) in the area at Ned.
WOS had 8 return from a defense that had 5 shut outs and gave up less than a TD a game... I think your statemet is a little off.
I'm not saying WOS's D is no good, that's one reason I said earlier that neither team will score in the 30's. I predicted a low scoring game, b/c WOS has a new coach AND offense, and Nederland is suppose to have their best defense in years, and maybe ever! So yes, they may have the best D in the area. So my statement is not a fact actually, it's my Opinion, and everyone on here has one.
 24.
I don't doubt that Nederland can win.  However, some of these scores that Nederland is going to put up seem a bit lofty (35, 28, etc).  It's been awhile since Nederland has put up that many points against the Mustangs.  Has the Nederland offense improved that much or has the WOS defense gotten worse?  I think we are looking at a lower scoring game.  I understand that WOS may face the injury bug on defense but I have to go with ther Mustangs 20 - 13.
I agree with the scoring. Gonna b a low scoring game w the new offense from WOS and a good Ned 'D'.
