1. I was really looking forward to the HF/Nederland game that is scheduled for this year.  :( Now we get to deal with Da Dove twice a year!  >:( Thanks Nash!  ;)
 2. Does this now give Ozen the fire power they needed to get back on top of 20-4A or will Nederland win a 3rd consecutive district title?
 3.
The head baseball coach and all of his assistants are football coaches!!  Coach English is a fine bball coach.
We agree that coach English is a fine b-ball coach. He is doing a great job, but he shouldn't have to do it alone- he deserves help. Any head B-ball coach will say the same. Yes, the baseball coaches may be football coaches as well, but they KNOW baseball AND football. The new assistant already coaches FB AND baseball, and he has knowledge of these sports. However, from my understanding, he is NOT a basketball guy , and he is not knowledgeable in the sport at all! Neumann had a better option for an assistant, and he failed to do what is best for the program and our kids- for at least the second time since English has been HC in Ned.
 4. I could be wrong, but I don't think anyone is blaming the new assistant. It's more about Neumann not looking out for the best interest of the athletic department. Keep in mind, this will also affect the baseball team, b/c basketball playoffs will run into the beginning of baseball practice (and maybe some games??). "he has to have SOME reason for putting the coaches where they are..."?? Kinda like how he hired an Ag teacher a few years ago to be the head soccer coach? But your right, i'm sure Neumann does have 'SOME reason'...as long as it doesn't affect the football program of course. :-\   quote author=The Ingredient link=topic=86369.msg1032410#msg1032410 date=1312775531]

Question for the new assistant basketball coach: what is your name, what school were you at previously and what were you coaching at that time, did you play basketball in HS, have you ever coached basketball at any level, and what would YOU say is your ability and overall knowledge of the game.??? This would probably be a good time for Neumann to justify his hire, and for this new coach to lay out the resume that landed him this job.
Still no response ??? Does ANYONE know anything about this assistant coach and his credential??
I do and I don't think he should be the focus of your thread. He is from Ned, lives in Ned, and is coming to work in Ned in the best interest of himself and his family. Is he a "basketball guy"? No. But he took the job offered to him. The AD could prob move Smith and put Walker at MS and both would be happy, but AD is the boss. He has to have SOME reason for putting the coaches where they are. The coaches just do what they gotta do. Don't drag Walker down for doing what's best for himself and his family.
5.
If it is about the kids then here is a question for you. How many D1 kids did Nederland football produce last year? How many did Nederland basketball produce? 2 in football, 0 in basketball. Nuff said.
What's your point? You are further validating that Nederland needs a basketball coach as an assistant. Thanks!  ;D ;D ;D
 6.
lol man you are acting like nederland has been to the state tourney the last couple of years, nederland isn't a powerhouse basketball program!!!! just the truth, a powerhouse basketball program is silsbee,hj, and kountze, just because nederland has done good the last couple of yrs does not make them a great basketball program. Football and baseball are the top 2 sports in nederland!!!
Never said they were a powerhouse buddy. That is NOT what this is about.
 7. Neumann is clearly envious of the success and attention of the basketball program.  The sad thing is that the kids are the one's who will suffer most from this. Do you think he would hire a defensive line coach to coach his QBs? I think not. He has an ex-QB at that position who is also the OC. You are right, he may be a good football coach, but he is NOT a good AD. A good AD is one who helps each kid thrive in every sport, not just football! The problem in Nederland is that Everyone is afraid of Neumann, including administrators. They were not innocent in this hire. They sat by and watched this take place and allowed Neumann to continue his dictatorship!! We all need to bring this atrocity to our school board. If we don't, then nothing will EVER change!!
 8. Names? Positions? Classifications? Do you think they are top 25 worthy? 12.
Wow!  Sounds like a head football coach / AD trying to kill a successful basketball program. Mackey may be a great basketball coach, but having a varsity football coordinator coach basketball is a bad idea.  If the football team make any kind is playoff run the basketball program will be on the back burner.  Plus basketball practice starts before the end of football.  Where will his commitment be?  Definitely not fair to the basketball program.
Welcome to the club! Happens here all the time...

I am not aware of WOS playing Bay City in those years in the basketball playoffs.
I'm not sure if they did or not either. I just remember a local team played Bay City ( in the mid-late 80's) led by LaBradford Smith, and both teams stalled the entire game. The final score was extremely low. I don't think either team scored more than 29 points.
The scores in those '85 and '86 games with Bay City and Silsbee were in the 60's. I do believe the game you are referring to was a PA Lincoln vs. Bay City game in '86.
That's probably the game I'm thinking about. I remember there was a lot of hype around it, then everyone was surprised at the low score.

 15.
Three memorable games that come to my mind that I have seen (or played in): 1979 District game Silsbee vs. Beaumont Hebert 1982 District game Silsbee vs. Beaumont Hebert 1979 YMBL Championship Silsbee vs. Beaumont Charlton-Pollard others: 1985 Silsbee vs. PA TJ  (Silsbee's Darrell McArthur scored 58 points) 1985   Regional finals Silsbee vs. Bay City 1986  Regional Semifinals Silsbee vs. Bay City   (McArthur vs. LaBradford Smith) 1980 Silsbee JV  vs. Spurger Varsity   (Spurger's homecoming) and a game that did not involve SETX teams, but the greatest game that I have ever seen to date: 1972 Class 4A State semifinal Dallas Roosevelt vs. Houston Wheatley Roosevelt  109 Wheatley  107
Was the Silsbee Vs. Bay City the game when the final score was something like 28-27? Or was that WO-S Vs. Bay City?

 17. 1987-Nederland defeated West Brook for the 1st (and maybe only) time. Brian English lead the Dogs with 25 pts. The gym was packed, and the court was stormed after the game.
 18. *David Green Ozen Guard Senior *Zach English Nederland Guard Junior *Josh Aldridge Vidor Forward Senior *Colton Weisbrod Nederland Post Sophomore *Courtney Williams Ozen Post Junior
 19. Who are your top 25 players for this upcoming season? Name School Position Classification
 20.
Not gonna matter. HF will take one district game from Silsbee & one district game from HJ this year. Could be a three way tie in district this year.
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D Thanks for the laugh Dove!
 21.
Silsbee and HJ will split and Silsbee wil fall to HF once.
Not likely. HF will not beat Silsbee. HJ and Silsbee will tie for 1st at 9-1. WO-S and HF will tie for 3rd at 5-5. WO-S beats HF in play-in game for 3rd.
 22. 2015? 2015? You sir are truly delusional.  :-\

You guys are barely beating the teams the same 8th graders win over in Houston.  Houston Defenders Select and Houston Hoops (8th graders-going to 9th) beat these teams. ::)
I'm done discussing this with you. Your comments have been a complete waste of my time.
