Oh! I thought you were talking about this past senior season's kids when they were all freshmen. With that being said, who is the stud(s) on that team? Any of those kids gonna be on varsity this year?
-
Not English. He wasn't on the team as a Freshman. Weisbrod was moved up in early Decrmber of his Freshman season, but did not start the season on Varsity.
-
The freshmen for Central and Ozen played on JV or varsity when they were Fish, so no, they didn't go 24-0. That Freshmen team for Ned was good for sure. They didn't lose all year and won two JV tourneys. That's the 1st year Jalen played with them. Jalen left, which hurt physically and mentally. Just as the Vikings will likely struggle this year losing Bridgewater two weeks before the season starts, the Ned Bball team lost their QB last year weeks before their season started. I also think some of that group (for Ned) peaked early and/or didn't put in the time and effort to maximize their potential. Enogh about the past, this thread is about this year.
-
Haha. Good one Mamba. I like a good jab once in a while. I miss my boy Blue throwing jabs towards his southern neighbors. We use to have some intense (yet respectful) debates over the past 5 years or so. Truth be told our Freshman class only lost 1-2 games over their JR high days, so this group will likely win state and prolly be ranked #1 in the Nation in 2019/2020. All joking aside, there will be a few from this group who can go. One could be impactful this year on the big stage. I don't think a Freshman has ever started the season on varsity (in Big Ned). This could be a special one...

Will be a lot of new faces this year from the 2 Beaumont schools. Yes, everyone knows there WILL be talent, and there WILL be a stud or two or six...But most of the big names aren't around anymore. And that's across the district. Central's 4 year run of thoroughbred studs have graduated. Wilridge (please don't butcher me on my spelling of names) and Pearson are gone. Ozen and Ned's dominant players Hunter and Weisbrod are gone. (Yes, I know it's been a couple of years for some of these kids). But my point is, who is the next dominant player who can take over a game? Take over a district? A regional title? State title? We all know PAM has serious young talent, but will one of those kids be the next Hunter, Weisbrod? Who has the 'it' factor? Who wants it? My bold prediction of the year is that Nederland should win district. With the two move ins from Houston Madison and Westbury Christian, we should run the table... BRING IT!!!

Not gonna be pretty for LCM. Then again, prolly won't be pretty for anyone who faces WOS this year. When (if ever) is the last time LCM beat WOS?
-
The 74 us TD run was by Quirante.

My Dawgs will definitely strap it on tight and be ready to hit (and take a hit). The speed of WOS has always given us troubles, not so much the size (of WOS), except in the mid-late 80's when WOS DOMINATED EVERYONE in SETX with size AND speed.

I played FB at SHSU. While playing there, I learned that the way most HS coaches clock kids in the 40 yd dash is inaccurate. We had ONLY two players who ran legit 4.4s. One played WR, one played DB. The guy who played WR couldn't catch a cold in January. Point being, just bc you are fast, doesn't mean your 'all that' on the FB field. And, Let's Go Big Ned!!
