Careful, you have a reputation to uphold. Someone may consider that a compliment. ;-) -
Not gonna happen.

I believe that was FDR who said that.

# 5 OZEN VS #11 FT. BEND MARSHALL

Hard to make a prediction when I haven't seen Marshall this year. All I know is I'll be rooting for Ozen. Go Panthers! -

He doesn't have to research anything. I provided that information on the previous page. PROOF that he only reads what he wants to hear Vs the truth. -

Awesome how you keep changing the subject. As soon as you answer my inquiry, I'll answer yours. I've been waiting for two days now. -

Honest Abe replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Yes. Name one other coach who has turned two programs completely around to winning 20+ games/yr. I'll check back in Monday to give yourself plenty of time to research (sarcasm) Winning 20 games/year isn't considered average in anyone's book except yours. -

Avg district 22-5A. Hahahahahahaha! #1 and #2 teams in the state in 22-5A, and the district is weak??!! Do you know how stupid you sound?? Oh well, it's your reputation on the line. -

Come on! Do you really expect OZF to know that information? Of course not!! He can never provide facts, merely asinine opinions. Not that you deserve to know the truth, but Here are some facts for you OZF: Ned has won at least 20 games for the past 7 seasons (last 20 win season was in 1987) Won 11 playoff games and lost 7 during that span. (Previous Ned win a playoff game was 1957). 2 regional tourney appearances (2011, 2014). 3 District Championships (last district championship was??? 1957???) Vidor: (became an ISD in 1949): Thr following information from my Vidor source (Clint). 0 winning basketball seasons before 2000 (English's first year at Vidor). He coached there from 2000-2006. 5 Winning seasons from 2002-2006 (0 Winning seasons before 2002, 0 since 2006). -Playoffs 04, 05, & 06 (all 20 win seasons) -Oh ya, Beat ozen 3 times in 04. BTW- Im still waiting on your list of coaches who have turned dormant programs into contenders and another list of the coaches who have done it twice -

If you come back with 'he hasn't won a state title', I will reference the following names of people who never won a championship yet have great resumes: Carl Malone, Gary Peyton, Pistol Pete, Bernard King, John Stockton, Sir Charles Barkley, Alex English, Shawn Kemp, Chris Mullin, Vince Carter, Reggie Miller, Dominique Wilkins, TMac, Geroge Gervin, Steve Nash (the original), AI, Patrick Ewing, and plenty more -

I don't know this answer, so I'm asking you for a list of coaches (locally) who have taken over 'dead programs' and completely turned them around into a contender/competitor. Not just one year, but year after year. I'm sure there are a few, I just don't know the history of all of the teams in the area. Then, I would like you to create a list of coaches who have done it twice (at two different 'dormant programs'). -

I think most people seem to have quickly forgotten that it was only 9,10 years ago that Ned's record at the end of the year was 4-25 or 10-21 (in a decent year). Since 2008 (or 2009) Ned has won at least 20 games every year. Before then, we have to go back to 1987 when English was a senior. That year, Ned was 22-9. -

I try my hardest to ignore him. Sometimes I'm strong enough, other times, I give in to his 'tactics' and respond back. If he writes a stupid statement (as he did on this thread), I simply ignore him. I don't think OZF is racist, but I do think he is bitter about something. I just can't figure out what it is. It's not a 'Nederland thing', bc he bashed Ozen last year for not winning state and Central the year before for not winning state. -

Not missing any players. Up 7 after 3, and KW Park comes out on fire to start the 4th. Once Howard fouled out, our offense became stagnant. Everyone just stood around. Nobody wanted to shoot. When we did shoot, it wasn't 'good looks'. Just like a lot of close games this year, we didn't seem to 'want it' as bad as the other team. -

The double foul call was on a made FT by KWP. The KWP player leaned on Howard, lost his balance and fell out of bounds. Absurd that a kid fouls out on a play like that. After he went out of the game, Kingwood Park focused on Migas and Jones because they knew we had no one else can score. -

Refs make a horrible double foul call. Howard has now fouled out. Unreal! -

KW Park is the most patient offensive team I have seen in a long time. Remind me of the Hickory Hoosiers. Dawgs were down 13-5, then closed the half on a 14-2 run. -
Nederland plays KW Park Tuesday at GCM HS. Not sure of time yet.

Not sure who said it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Most of the Ned fan base knewDarrel would step up and do a good job as the point. We would have been a different team having Ballou and Jones on the court at the same time. Especially when we struggled to break the press against Ozen. That's where Ballou would have made a difference, IMO.

As a parent, it hurts to see how badly the team felt when he left. When all of the kids are looking at each other trying to figure out why he left was very disheartening.
-
Good for him. Glad he was successful at accomplishing his own personal goal while he left his teammates in his rear view mirror. Basketball is a team sport, and it always will be. For kids who seek individual accolades, golf and tennis may be more appropriate. As Baller93 stated, it could have been a real special year in Nederland had he stayed. He COULD have been the difference in finishing 1st, instead of 3rd. Even if Ned had won the district, I think the MVP would go to Miguez.

Baytown Lee 68 Nederland 63/Final
Honest Abe replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Lee wanted it more and we couldn't stop Hockless. Pretty much wraps up the game. These boys need to ask themselves how much winning means to them. Some kids have that 'not gonna lose' mentality. I believe that is called the 'it factor' that so many people refer to. Some kids have it, some don't. I can recall a few games (earlier in the season) where we had that mentality. Lately, we don't seem to have 'it'. We need to somehow find that desire to win again.
