1. It was for athletic purposes. Not gonna beat a dead horse bc it won't make a difference.
 2. if a kid WANTS to stay, it can be done easily. I know situations of a few families that have made it work. One moves, the other stays behind until the kid finishes school.
 3. Can't image any reason a kid would WANT to leave his team just before his senior year. Maybe its not the kid, maybe the parent is being transferred?? Season starts in two weeks. I couldn't imagine transferring to a new school (especially one out of this area) and joining a new team and expect good things to happen. He either: 1. gets there and the team is really good (and he plays a small role). 2.The team is really bad; therefore, no and not a positive experience 3. The team is average, he takes someone's spot on the team and his new teammates don't like him while he has a miserable Senior year Adjusting to a new school and kids is hard enough during the middle of one's senior year. I couldn't imagine trying to join a new team as well. There will be many obstacles regardless of 1-3 above. IF he has the option to stay in Nederland, why abandon your TEAM that you've played with for 3 years?? If it's opportunity/scholly reasons, go out, have an outstanding senior year, make some noise, and get noticed. He could still have a tremendous senior year and get an offer or two. It's not too late. These kids have ALL played in multiple tourney's in Houston and some have played in Vegas and New Orleans. Plenty of exposure and opportunities to get noticed. Not sure how a change in scenery is going to change that. If anything, it would be more difficult to get noticed. Moving to Cali or NY isn't going to change that, PERIOD! No reason this TEAM couldn't go 2, 3, 4 rounds deep this year like we did 2 years ago and get even more exposure. I would assume a kid like Jordan Hunter or Toe-Toe could have gone to a prep school for his senior year. They chose to stay, and they both made memories that they will never forget. Hunter ended up playing on the big stage in Austin for the Ship. Hard to compete with memories like that. Though it was many moons ago, my HS buddies and I still talk about our senior year of ball.
 4. Nederland beat Memorial by 3
 5. I was going to comment on a few teams, but looks like you covered it all! ;)
 6. Oh wow! Earth shattering prediction here!! Are you sure you want to put your reputation on the line? I guess will also go out on a limb too: Ozen will make the playoffs this year! I know; that sounds outrageous, but those boys have been working hard this summer....
 7. I wouldn't count this group out just yet. While this group has struggled to find consistent offense, they will still be a force to be reckoned with this year. No team should sleep on them bc they will find a way to win.
 8. No. That's not the question at all. Actually there isn't a 'question' at all a comment was made that no big time coach (es) EVER come to the area to watch a regular season HS game. AAU is the only time it happens. I proved otherwise. If it weren't for AAU, a lot more coaches would have to watch more 'real basketball' by attending HS games. I do believe AAU serves a purpose, but not as big of a purpose as some believe. I wonder how many scholly's have been offered to kids in our area over the past 15 years compared to the 15 years prior. I'm guessing it's about the same, but would be curious to know any differences.

 10. oh, I forgot, Roy Williams flew back into the Nederland airport on Saturday to watch a few more games.
 11. I do remember two Decembers ago that Larry Brown and Roy Williams BOTH watching a HS game in little ole Nederland, TX.
 12. MC Flight
 13. I agree that he would shine. My question would be; If he attended Ozen, would be excel at Football or basketball? Does anyone think he would excel at BOTH? If so, name the last Panther to 'shine' at football, basketball, AND track?
 14. The topic is about who is the most athletic kid (s) in the area. Arnold stands out more so bc he is a great athlete which shows across multiple sports. I could see where a kid specializes in a sport a higher classification and not appear to be 'as athletic' as Arnold bc that kid only plays one sport. My guess is that there are lots of kids not mentioned on this list bc they only play one sport (I used Jordan as an example). Since they are at larger schools, they are unable to display their athleticism to a broader audience. So many people know Arnold bc he excels at multiple sports whereas a kid from WB or Memorial may be as athletic but not be as well known. I'm thinking this list should be much longer, but it isn't.
 15. Here is something to ponder: Put Jordan Hunter in a Kountze Lions jersey, does he dominate the 3A level in multiple sports as did Arnold? I would suggest that he would dominate. I would also suggest that there are a few more athletes from some of the bigger schools who would do the same.

 17. Ba'am! You see TVC, people like 'new' Tobie want to paint Conservatives as racists, but his last statement proves otherwise. We vote based on policies, regardless of the color of one's skin. He (and most Liberals) don't want to believe that bc it doesn't fit their agenda.
 18. Wait! How is it that conservatives are supporting Ben Carson? He is a black man, and I thought that all conservatives were racist? No need to worry though because I am certain that liberals will find him guilty of misconduct with a woman; just like they did with Herman Cain.

I Cant help but be at AWWW to the notion of a 14u beating any of the top 3 schools in the district... And Brady from my reading we were talking about your team compeating not the best 14u in the nation... but yet still even so... Any top notch 14u player does play 14u so your team hasn't played near best of the class... I've seen the best 14u-17u believe me I was in Vegas, Indianapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Orlando on the Sideline calling shots. The Speed is a factor for 1, the physicality of the game is a factor and most of all a player IQ is the biggest, You telling me a 14u AAU team can win a varsity district than your telling me you have at least 7 future NBA players. Nobody can match up wit Silsbee top 7, HJ top 5, and id be willing to bet both my cars and my house against a 20 dollar bill Laquariouse Paige (After this Summer Top 30 in TEXAS) will score 40 of the easiest points in life, But whatever makes you sleep good at night stick with it
Lol wow!!
You actually understood that?? ??? Please interpret.

Boards have been a little like touch football; I needed to hit somebody Lol. You did a little hitting of your own. I like your approach, don't back down & get your point across. If Nederland weren't any good, we wouldn't be having this discussion. So please don't take it the wrong way, just running my mouth as many of us do from time to time. Good luck on the Season & I hope y'all lose every game ::) Mighty Bumblebees
All good BigCam. I hope Lincoln loses all their games this year too. ;D Bball board alway this slow during this time of the year.

I said there is no way they should be within 15pts with the caliber of players @ Central & Ozen. Again, not a knock on Coach English at all. He truly is Amazing, but let's not kid ourselves Abe. Trying to keep the gloves on Buddy. Mighty Bumblebees!!!!
Haha. If you knew me, you would know that I AM a fighter! I didn't see your post as knocking Coach E. I saw it as you don't think that kids in Nederland should be within 15 points of Bmt schools bc they are less talented or gifted. I did not see any supporting evidence in your post (or any from previous posts) which allude to your assessment. You have made many posts stating that the district crown is back in Bmt where it should be, etc. Nobody acknowledged Dogs1218 question the other day with any substance. The basketball talent in Nederland is no better than it was 10, 15, 20 years ago. The reason Bmt schools use to beat Nederland by 20, 30, 40 points easily is bc the kids didn't care enough to reach their potential. Kids in Bmt played bball year round while kids in Nederland only played for 4 months of the year. During the offseason, MANY kids never picked up a basketball more than once a month. That has now changed bc the bball kids in Nederland now play year round. JMHO
Well, I think your guys should play some baseball in the summer
BORING!!
 23.
On THAT note, the truth is that high school kids CANNOT GUARD man to man for the most part.  Smart high school coaches KNOW this and will often change up defenses in order to keep opponents guessing...I do not REALLY like zone defenses, but I TEACH them because I would never want my guys to see zones and become like "deer in headlights"...The key is to play a variety of zones, and emphasize the importance of staying aggressive while playing them and not get relaxed. If Nederland played man for 32 minutes they would not win a game...But at the same time with all of Central and Ozen's athleticism, if they played man for the entire game, they would struggle greatly as well...Pressing by some schools (i.e. Silsbee and Yates) can disguise the fact  that kids don't really guard, but if teams stay in presses too long, most of the time they will eventually get adjusted to them and they will no longer be effective or AS effective...Just my two cents.. 8)
I hate to agree with you ;D but your right. If Ned plays Bmt schools zone for 32, not likely to win. Of course you never know what will happen in any scenario, but a coach has to 'play the odds' to give his team the best chance at winning, right? I think a change in defense will throw off the opponent every time. If a Defense is played too long, the opponent gets comfortable with it and knows where it is weakest. That's why football teams so not simply play a basic 3-4 or 4-3 all game. They mix it up on nearly every play. Ok, enough of football, back to bball. A lot of people don't realize that Yates plays a zone defense. Their press IS a full court zone. Not sure of they have a half court defense. ;)
 24.
Somebody brought up the Ozen/Nederland game to me just this week. I remembered the lost but had forgotten Ozen was killing Nederland in their man to man.
You referring to the game in Nederland, right? If I remember correctly, Nederland started that game playing a 1-2-2 Zone. Ozen shot them out of it, so Nederland went man. Ned kids did what they were suppose to do in a man D, but Jordan hit a deep three in that 2nd Q and I believe it was Sams who banked a 3 off the glass at the 1/2 time buzzer. Ned played man during the 2nd half, and the game was even. During the next meeting at Ozen, Ned played man D, and Nederland won that game. So I am still struggling to understand why BigCam states that Ned kids should not be able to play Bmt schools man man? It has nothing to do with coaching abilities, I believe it proves that the kids have the ability to play that style of D. In previous years, MAYBE they weren't taught properly how to play man, but again I think the kid have always had the ability, but didn't put in the work to maximize their potentials. (Sorry for the run on sentence).
