2.
First of all I didn't accuse Mumford of not working hard enough...obviously they were good because they made it to the finals...I'm talking about. Some of you who cry every time one of these teams because they get players from all around..it was their decision to play in uil so why are you complaining..better question did the coach from Mumford complain..if he didn't then u have no gripe...ill say before and until I'm blue in the face WHEN YOU HAVE A WINNING PROGRAM YOU DON'T HAVE TO RECRUIT..as I said before with HJ..SILSBEE ..KOUNTZE..OZEN.. ETC ETC.. And if you think there is a huge difference between hs ball and aau..then ask some of these coaches why they stay in CLOSE contact with the aau coaches..because they have high level of input on the team success..Congrats to all programs who don't cry when they lose and take it on the chin...
Wow, where to begin? This is AAA's 1st year to compete in UIL. They have no history!! So your analogy of 'Build it and they will come' does not apply. Try again. ::) BTW-There is a HUGE difference in AAU and HS ball, and yes I have asked coaches. ;)
 3.
There sure is a lot of whining about Triple A winning state because some think it's unfair. you lace up yours shoes to play the game just like the other kids ...again stop giving these people  EXCUSES. Cause that's all I hear..ohh they have 7 players who play on the same aau team...ohh they didn't attend the school last year...all this dang on crying needs to stop...if they were in 1A,2A,3A shouldn't matter. To further my point Central has 7 of its 9 players on the same aau team is that fair why shouldn't it be....are you gonna question that nooooooo of course not I'm guessing cause their 4a ,but let's say they all went to Legacy or Kelly would you complain then. My point is either get better or get off the court. You shouldnt care who is on the team your their to play and the minute you place doubt in these kids heads it over. So when Mumford blew out San Augustine im sure they felt LIke they had a chance to win.I'm not sure what some of you  teach your kids but I know with the team I coach we will fear anyone I don't care who they are or who you have. We're gonna bust ya beep to the beep....lol...It's called instilling confidence. Not negativity.. So for those of you who booed those kids and who are writing letters to uil...lmao...you should be shamed of yourselves..we're talking about KIDS winning the game they love to play. And just like a anybody else YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME...
Excuse me sir, but Bmt Kelly AND Legacy are PRIVATE SCHOOLS!! Does a town of 600 have the same talent pool to pull from that a city of 3 Million has? No!! That's why there are different classifications. Do you understand the difference between AAU and PUBLIC SCHOOL athletics? Do you not think the kids from the towns of 600 don't work hard or don't want to win or don't 'love the game' as u suggested? Mumford was 29-0, yet you think they didn't work hard enough? ???  Take a deep breath, and think about it. Wow!!
 4.
Yates is second again. Dang wonder why and why is it so hard to cheer for em. Is it the same reason AAA Academy got booed. Congrats to all the schools and coaches who do it right with hard work, ethics, life lessons etc....especially the ones who do it w kids who should be at their school. We all know what's coming, you can't help those guys, they just don't get it!
Well put!!
 5.
Coach Wise has always been that way. If the press has gotten us this far apparently it worked , why change now? If you get beat you're not running the defense the way i taught you....so we'll keep at it until you get it right. I have this same argument with his 2001-02 & 2002-03  Hightower team kids that live in my area that lost as they put it ...because coach wouldnt come out of the press. We've practiced this every day and now you cant do it right ? No son, get it right or lose. Same with time outs...aint gonna happen.  If you cant execute there are no bail-outs turn it over... and try again. And the players no better than to call one except in the game vs HJ    Guard called one on an inbound play and got cursed out "Dont call no damn timeout ! Cant get the damn ball in give it back to the ref ! " * Also for those that were at the Wylie game vs Madison  ... down 40 points .... yep we're staying in this 2-3 zone son...now get out there and win.
Shouldn't it be the coaches job to think of alternative methods to win the game if your signature method isn't working? Sorry, but that's not good coaching. Seems like that is nothing more than 'out athleting' the other team. While it works against 95% of opponents, it makes no sense to be stubborn and not adjust your game plan when it's not working and you are losing the state title again in the same manner as you did the year before. Since that is all that Yates cares about, this should be a huge issue for them.
 6.
I take it a kid started this topic right ?
Since his name is 'Lebron is the best', I'm guessing the answer is yes. Everybody know that MJ is the best! ;D

So why are y'all trying to see which game would be closer? Yates doesn't care about how much they win by as long as they win.
Not trying to determine which game would closer. I made a point that people (DV in this case) assume the outcome of a game before it is played due to simply 'athleticism'. Had Silsbee not shot so poorly at the FT line, they could have won the game against Yates, correct? To say that Nederland doesn't have the athletes (on another thread) to compete with Yates, but good enough athletes to beat Silsbee is a contradiction, no? DV was unable to provide any facts as to why Yates would automatically win. His opinion is: Nederland doesn't have the athletes to compete against them and Yates has 8 'athletes'. Only 5 play at a time though correct? ??? Hmmm?? I've received no answer about this before, but I will ask again: Since when does an athletic team equate to an automatic victory over a 'non-athletic' team?? Last I checked, NEVER! It looks good during warmups, but when the whistle blows and the ball is tipped, it's anyone's game, and Nederland has proven (I know some don't like facts) that over and again. 8)
I DO agree with you, to an extent...If your team is more athletic and you have at least a DECENT coach on the sideline, odds are, the team with athletes will win...Thats a fact...Now, does it ALWAYS happen? No, but at the high school level, more often than not.
I agree, it is hard to argue that (in most cases) at the HS level. Ok, I'm done, that's two things we have agreed on today. We must stop now before our reputations are ruined! ;D ;D Got a question for you DV: While I realize Yates's MO is to press in order to score, why did coach Wise continue to press yesterday when Madison destroyed their press time and again? Why not make an in-game adjustment and try something different? Same thing happened last year in the title game too. I'm not picking on him, I just don't understand his thinking! The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Why not try something different and play a half court defense and protect the rim a bit more?
 8. Did any of Silsbee's Freshmen kids play on Varsity or JV this year?
 9.
You guys act like Triple A wanted to be 1A, c'mon man with their type of talent I'm sure they wanted to compete with the big boys.
I think most of us agree that the UIL is mostly at fault for approving this. I do think AAA should have provided more information to the UIL regarding their level of talent in basketball so that they may have been placed in a different classification. They (AAA)should have (and maybe they did) question the UIL's decision to place them in 1A.
 10.
I do agree that this charter school/basketball factory had NO BUSINESS competing in UIL PEROID, let alone in class 1A...That was just not a wise move on the part of the UIL.
Glad we agree on something! ;) ;D

Didn't Ozen hang with Yates this year and only lose by 3? Didn't Ned and Ozen split? In addition, Silsbee had a chance to beat Yates too. Didn't Nederland beat Silsbee at home by 6/7 pts? Hmmm?? Sounds to me that Nederland had as good of a chance as any to beat Yates this year. Since I stated FACTS, I doubt I will hear a reply from you. 8)

ONLY because that weak 4a squad from Old Town Beaumont gave them a run for their money, huh?  That weak team couldn't possibly beat Yates, huh.  ::)
Yep, more kinda like that Pear Orchard squad gave Yates a run for their money in the final 13 seconds. ;)
Ozen hangs with Yates and loses by 3, but DV assumes that Nederland automatically loses to them even though Ned and Ozen split this year. ::) Gotta love his 'expertise'! ::)
 14.
If the UIL has not controlled the free agent market since UIL's inception way back in the 1930's, don't see any new rules forth coming to stop the situation in 2013-2014.
I could be wrong, but I think things have changed since the 1930's Dove! ;D Sounds to me that you are fine with the current rules and how they are implemented (or lack there of)?
 15.
OOOPS! I mis-typed in the other Triple AAA thread that is now closed.  I meant to say the charter schools in Houston ARE NOT ready for 5-A nor 4-A. UIL can only go by enrollment, I'm only guessing. If UIL want to help the situation due to their lack of knowledge, they need to have someone to advise their  board who is familiar with summer team programs & high school teams.
I wonder how was it determined that Strake Jesuit was ready for 5A ball yet AAA was placed in 1A? Again, if schools want to recruit or obtain an all-star team, fine. However, they should play either: an independent schedule or there needs to be a division specifically designated for them to participate. School's like Mumford (and even Silsbee and HJ; re Yates) should not be the victim of the UIL's incompetences and ignorance.
Not really.  ;) The summer free agency market is  a lot more interesting than high school.  ;)
That's the point/problem! There should NOT be 'free agency' in HS basketball. SMH!
 17.
What does Booing kids, whose parents sent them to that school, have to,do with character and sportsmanship ? I,dont like an entire AAU team on a HS Team,  but it is sad that they boo'd kids. UIL will take, notice I am sure.
Maybe the Boos should have been towards the UIL for allowing them to play in 1A. I will be writing a letter to the UIL on Monday. I encourage Team First and others to do the same. Via their web site, This is how to contact them: [email protected]
 18.
Final South Grand Prairie        38 Fort Bend Travis            46 Region III wins 4 out of 6 state championships!!!
Yep, Region III weak as usual! ::)
 19.
Me too. The ironic thing about this is they wouldve most likely won the 4A state title if they wouldve opted to stay in that classification. I was not impressed with Dallas Kimbell nor Terry. 20.
I have three friends who attended SGP. 21. Good one Nash! Even my wife got a kick out of that one! And No, she was NOT an Omega Mu! ;D
 22.
Triple A playing in Class 1A is a complete joke. I have been going to state tourney since 1972, 42 straight years now. This was the very first time where the championship team got booed when presented their championship trophy. It is a farce!! No way that "aau team" can be proud of beating lowly 1A teams for state title. Complete joke.
Amen Bro! I will be writing a lengthy letter to the UIL next week addressing AAA Academy amongst other issues. I encourage others to do the same or nothing will ever change, and it will get worse.

Depends. However we don't have the luxury to be a magnet school and recruit amongst 3 million kids within HISD and/or decide which classification we play. 8) Since you could not defend them, nice job on changing the subject matter. ;) Yates is nothing more than an AAU team playing in public school competition. U still convinced that's the way it should be-Lol! ::)
 25.
2nd year in a row yates press has killed them...but whats up with swift he doesn't play like a D-1 player
I agree! I realize that pressing is their 'game', but why not make adjustments and not press when your team is equally matched?
