No need for a dunk o meter here.  The only one playing in this game that can dunk is weisbrod, and he won't attempt one in a big game like this...
Ned has 3 players who can dunk. Lormier being the likely one to do so in a game.

We only had 6 or 8 points from the rest of the team. We just gotta get some others involved offensively. If I remember right, English had 18 of his 22 in the 2nd half. I don't think he will wait that long to get started this time.
Big time players show up in big time games, and these two have been doing it all season in games of importance. Somebody else will step up and have a big game which will be the difference maker.
There is a media guy who always says, "There is no such thing as a bad game in a big game." Yall bring it on  :P
You know i'm a bit slow. Can you explain that one a bit more.

 4.
Nederland plays much better on the road, and shoots better on the road. Ned 64 ozen 52
You are correct. We do not shoot well at home, and most of our losses have been at home (6 of 8 losses).
 5.
My apologies HonestAbe...  ;).... I think they would've shot around 65  ::).....lol...seriously they had it on their minds that night just like they will Tues...
Lol! Most teams usually shoot about 65% in big games, so you're prolly right! ;D I think Ozen had a lot to prove in that 1st meeting and against Central 2 weeks ago. Their focus will not be the same, IMO. Same can be said for Ned. I think we played to not lose in the 1st game. Now lots of doubters, so their focus and intensity will go up!
 6.
No scapegoats or strategy excuses... But in the PNG game their focus was not there at all..couldn't get up for what they thought was a meaningless game ..and it turned out ugly...yes that can get u beat...surely u r forgetting what Ozen was doing to Nederland in their own gym..had it been me I would've drove the bus thru them but hey that's why I'm not the coach and I understood what he was doing. But at the end of the day they will be very focused for this game and they will win it by a large margin..buy its just one mans opinion  8)
'Scapegoat' is a Nederland football fan who provides insight to both the Nederland basketball program AND baseball program. ::) Back to topic though, do you really think Ozen would have continued to shot better than 70% from 3 pt land in the 2nd half too? Maybe Saveat decided to play the odds himself and won?
 7. PNG played the percentages with their zone and nearly upset Ozen bc of poor outside shooting. It happens. Smart coaches play the odds! ;) Would love to hear what strategy Scapegoat would suggest we use in this game. ::)
 8.
Ozen was blowing Nederland away. Ozen took the pressure off and Nederland took advatage of an opportunity.
Ozen shot over 70% from three land in the 1st half (including a bank shot at the buzzer)  Do you expect to shoot that well again? Remember the Ozen game against PNG two weeks ago.....;) Remind us how many heart attacks you and Top Flight had during that game! ;D
 9.

Still, no one made a prediction, so, I will... Big Ned - 55 Pear Orchard - 63
Too close! Will be by a larger margin
Last game was a nail biter. What makes you think it will be a victory of more than 8? If you're giving more than 8, I'll take that bet! ;)
 10. Dawgs with a bank shot 3 at the buzzer for a 53-52 victory. ;D
 11. U said it Dove! Bragging rights!! Not sure if I can deal with you having bragging rights over me for the next 10/11 months!! ;D 8) Honestly though, I completely agree. Region IS wide open, so a loss does not end the season as some in Nederland believe. ::) I mean, IF we end the reg season at 24-10 and not 26-8, then, 'What is wrong with Nederland?' ;) Matchups will be important in the playoffs, that's why I think this game is very important for us. A 3rd place finish will have us play either Humble or Crosby in round 1. A 1st place or 2nd pl finish will have us play KW Park or Summer Creek or CE King. We match up much better against these 3 teams.
 12. Big game Tuesday night in District 20-4A as Big Ned travels to Bmt. to take on Ozen. Dawgs must win in order to keep their District Crown. Ozen is tied for 1st with Central at 10-1, Ned is a game behind at 9-2. Who ya got?

 14.

Ned freshmen won...pretty big, but not positive of score
Ok, Thanks.... Nederlands freshman group is pretty darn good.
Freshmen score was: Ned 69 PNG 39
 15.
Also another false statement. Coach English plays kimler a ton, played Cunningham when he played football, Dionte when he played football, And shaw is on the team after not competing in basketball for a while. As I said coach English plays the best talent and welcomes the idea of football players coming in. Heck, I know they would love to have deshawn right now playing.
true, true, and true. Cunningham worked hard to become one of Ned's best players. He was an average player during his Fresh and Soph years. I don't think he even started until his senior season. He worked hard in the offseason, and he got much, much better. Are you (Scapegoat) suggesting that a kid who beats another kid one time after practice in one on one equates to him having more talent?
 16.
Abe,if you noticed in a earlier thread I said he was one of the best coaches in the state of Texas. My point is the team could possibly be better if football guys were not called "football guys" and treated fairly.I see a us against them approach.English has done a great job turning programs around.I think if he moved to a 5-A or college the sky is the limit for him.Specialist are the norm. there.I also said football coach and basketball coach do not get along.Let me ask you,if you were a athletic director and football coach at a school and you found out the basketball coach was trying to get kids that would help the football program play basketball only how much would you help that guy? The football coach also sees his kids treated unfairly! I believe this is what is happening in Nederland.
So, since the FB coach won't allow his FB kids to participate in Bball, that is the Bball coach's fault? ??? Interesting spin. ::) Does a kid have a choice to be in the basketball period but also play football? Why not? While he is practicing basketball during the Fall, do you expect he will be as good as the kids who practice FB every day? I doubt it. Would that kid be more of a role player on the FB team or the QB? You also just confirmed my suspicion that you would be okay with the Ned Bball program going back to its losing ways by suggesting he go to a 5A school or college. As long as Little Johnny doesn't get his feelings hurt. Because after all, it's all about how kids 'feel' not about winning. May as well give everyone a blue ribbon and a trophy just for trying. ::) Then you want to bring up how he has affected kid's lives, yet you fail to recognize all of the kids who played for him and won. Do you not care about their experience and how their lives will forever be changed bc of the positive  experience they encountered?  Would those kids be more confident people today had they played on below average teams or not had a good experience? SMH
 17. So a coach goes to school A and implements his ideas which turn that school from zero playoff appearances in school history (and being the district bottom dweller) to making the playoffs three straight years. That same coach leaves that program, and school A goes back to it's losing ways. That same coach goes to School B, and turns that program around (using ideas he thinks will make the team better), and that team is suddenly winning district championships and winning 2/3 playoff games/year. Somehow this coach gets ZERO respect from someone bc of how that coach runs their program? ??? Wow! Wonder what it takes to earn respect? ::) I realize you can't please everyone, but geez! Sounds like Scapegoat is looking for a scapegoat! Also sounds like he would be okay with school B implementing old ways and go back to being bottom dwellers again... ::)
 18. As all of us know (in MC), anything can happen when the Dawgs and Injuns play ANY sport. Last year, Ned won big at PN, but it was a nail biter in Nederland. Mostly bc Pham (sp?) got hot from outside and could not miss. It should be another good game between these two teams, and I think Ned takes it by 15 or so. 68-53
 19.
As long as the same person stays in charge of Nederland athletics this will never change. It is all about football at nederland and always will be as long as he is in charge. Seems like you would want all your sports to succeed but the way he puts football first and nothing else matters then we will be stuck in this same situation......... :'(
Bingo! We have a winner! ;)
 20. Not sure what happened in Vidor, all I know is that they were good when Coach E was there, and he completely turned that program around. Vidor went from being the worst team almost very year to reaching the playoffs a few years AND beating Ozen 3 Xs in one year (for you Dove ;D )! Since he left, Vidor has not been above (or near) .500 in district play. He has done the same in Nederland, yet you claim he's discouraging kids from playing and that he's NOT playing the best players unless they play Bball year round? ??? From what I hear, he and Matthews got along well, and they are still friends today. I also know that Coach E. wants his kids to be in his class when basketball starts. Sounds like you are suggesting he doesn't want them in the class? Maybe i misread what you meant. Truth is, he (and others) have fought hard for that to happen, but those in power will not allow that to happen. Therefore, the kids who want to play both sports suffer, AND the kids in the Bball program suffer. Kids get behind early bc its difficult to learn all of the plays when one is not at practice every day. It may be a reason a few of them didn't play basketball this year. Are you suggesting he doesn't want them in the class bc he feels like he has to play the kids who are full time Bball players? Seriously?? Remember Forney and Cunningham from two years ago? They both played football AND started on the basketball team. They spent extra time in the gym in the offseason and they were the best players, therefore they played. Come on man! Speaking of playing the best players, do the best players NOT currently play? Who should play more and why? You also mentioned lower classmen who are discouraged to play bc the kids who play year round will start bc they play all year but other kids may be better athletes. It's only natural that the kids who play year are actually better players. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Forney was the District MVP his Junior year. He played Football too. Kelvin Smith played year round basketball, and he ended up being the district MVP the following year. Forney was still a great player, but Smith got better by focusing on one sport. I plan to teach my kid that if he wants to play both, he will have to put in extra hours for basketball. Just bc he is better than his peers now in both sports does not mean he will be better in 3/4 years especially if he plays both sports and they don't. 8)
 21. I think it will come down to a tie, and the two teams will play an extra game to determine who represents 20-4A as the 4th pl team.
 22. Upset brewing in Lumberton. Vidor surprising people here late in the season.
