2. Nash brings up some good points (again). He's used this analogy a few times in which i haven't heard a strong rebuttal against. I have yet to see anyone 'stop' Weisbrod. Some have slowed him down, but he's going to score. He's averaging 20.2 ppg. PNG held him to 5 first half points by packing in their zone. The result: English made 5/8 3s, Kimler added 2, and four others made 1 each. He ended the game with 15. His season low was 10 against Cy-Ridge, a game where English did not play bc of his ankle. I watched 3-6'6" kids triple team Colton this summer in an AAU game, and he scored the game winning shot. He probably should have passed the ball to an open player, but fortunately it went in. I don't recall Ozen having any Bigs who play much or who can 'stop' him. Maybe someone can correct me on that fact.
3. Since we BOTH perform Voodoo, then it will cancel out! ;)
4.
Ozen's only hope is if they have a  kid on their roster that  has the size and strength to check Weisbrod.  I think the transition game will also be key as well.  They'll need to force turnovers to make this happen.
Good analysis! I couldn't agree more...
5.
This will be an INTERESTING matchup to  say the least.  Nederland has losses to teams that Ozen have competed with (Central ) or beaten (West Brook).  I think Nederland have gotten a lot better and will prevail by 3.
I'm gonna guess that both team's have improved since late November. When teams like this play, I don't think you can look at common opponents from 6 weeks ago to determine a victor. Ozen's guards are quick and aggressive. We handled Silsbee's speed/quickness a few weeks ago, so that should be some confidence for our kids in Friday's game. Weisbrod will be hard to match up with esp when Ozen goes small. Will be a good game. I'll take Ned by 5.

7. Livingston had their eyes on a playoff spot. PNG now has the inside track on that 4th Spot. Do they make the playoffs? Maybe Lumberton? LCM? I think it's wide open and will likely come to a play-in game.
8. Ozen is ranked #7 this week in SETXSPORTS Dirty Dozen and travels to #2 Nederland Friday night. Ozen is 3-1 in district and 11-9 overall. Nederland is 4-0 and 18-6.
9. Whoa! Upset of the night. Good win Raiders!
10. Final: 66-54! English scored 22 Weisbrod 15 Kimler 10
11. English may have pulled starters too early. Now 62-51 with 1:00 remaining.
12. 54-32, end of 3rd. Landry with a 3 at the buzzer!
13. English starts the 3rd with another 3! Dawgs up 13!
14. Half: Ned 33 PNG 23 English with 4-3s. He must have been working on his shot while he was hurt.
15. Ned up 24-15 with 4:26 remaining. TO
16. Kinda like last year: which WB team shows up?
17.
Zach has potential, but he better hit the weights and start doing more ball handling skills when basketball season is over......
I've been preaching the same thing about the weight room. Basketball has become more physical than finesse. His ball handling skills are as good as anyone in our area. He played point last year, but is playing the '2' this year. He doesn't have the explosiveness to play PG at a D1 school, IMO. He's a shooter though, and that's why he's getting a lot of looks. He's aggressive on offense, but he need to step up his defensive aggression. If he were better physically developed, that would definitely help.
18. Most of these players have a year or two to develop a bit more. From the Seniors who are graduating this year, I think D. Johnson from HJ and Z. English from Ned have the best chance at playing D1. If they don't receive a D1 offer, they will get offers from D2 and/or JUCO.
19. Major prospects, yes. But mid majors and small D1s sign this who fall through the cracks and kids who develop later. As you mentioned, grades can be an issue. Also, the 'need' of a team and the right 'fit' are also factored in to the process.
20. In all fairness, he did say 'potential'. How many kids from our area have went D1 over past 5 years? I'm gonna guess less than 1/year.
21.
Cleveland defeats Kingwood Park 58-54...final.
Whoa! Good win for Cleveland.
