[/quote] The football kids will definitely play a big factor in Ned's success this year. However, they would not have made a difference last Monday when HJ made 10-3's in the 1st half and shot nearly 75% from the field (in the 1st half). One of the reasons Central beat HJ is bc HJ only made 2-3's against Central. In regards to Ned's ranking; it's just that, a ranking. Notre Dame's FB team was not even ranked in the top 25 in preseason, now they are #1. Lots of Bball to be played between now and March. Central and Ozen will have at least two chances this year to prove they deserve a high ranking. I believe Nederland would be happy not being ranked bc it puts a target on them. Other teams are more inspired to beat a ranked team and usually play harder when they know they are facing a 'ranked team'. The start of this season has me scratching my head: -HJ beat Kountze, who beat Silsbee, who beat Central, who beat HJ. Just shows us that these early games have little meaning other than bragging rights and every team is searching for their identity since NONE of them return ALL starters from last season.  8)

We have not been able to beat WB the past two seasons, when we seemed to be favored both times. Both games were played in the Bulldog Classic. I think the last time we beat them was in 1987... If my facts are right, that's a long time to go without a W. Hopefully this year will break the 25 year dry spell, but we will have to bring our 'A' game to beat da Brook!

It appears that recruiting will soon be the norm and soon will be accepted. Someone needs to catch it before it gets out of hand. If a team recruits, then they should be in a unique division like Private Schools have. This 1A team nearly beat a 5A team last week. I believe it was Clear Springs by two points? That should not happen under normal circumstances.

He focused on High Jumping during the Spring/Summer, but he hasn't missed a step from where he left off last year. We will need him to continue scoring which will take pressure off of English and Weisbrod.
