1. We have not been able to beat WB the past two seasons, when we seemed to be favored both times. Both games were played in the Bulldog Classic. I think the last time we beat them was in 1987... If my facts are right, that's a long time to go without a W. Hopefully this year will break the 25 year dry spell, but we will have to bring our 'A' game to beat da Brook!
 2. It appears that recruiting will soon be the norm and soon will be accepted. Someone needs to catch it before it gets out of hand. If a team recruits, then they should be in a unique division like Private Schools have. This 1A team nearly beat a 5A team last week. I believe it was Clear Springs by two points? That should not happen under normal circumstances.
 3.
I did see strafford almost beat them last night and doubt Dawson wins state. They will loose but it will not be to Nederland.
Stratford had 6 TOs last night and still had a chance to win! Nederland has taken care of the ball this year, so to say Ned has no chance is asinine.
 4. I think Vidor ill keep it closer than 20.
Ya think?  ::)
Not sure why we even play basketball in SETX since there are so many who know the future, right AAW?
Abe, your answer to the question that started this thread is...? Join in. Its fun and its free.
It's way too early to tell, but if someone forced me to answer, I would say these teams would be the most likely teams to win state this year from our area. 1A Big Sandy 2A Kountze 3A HJ or Silsbee -They are equal just about every year, IMO. 4A Ozen 5A North Shore

Him and weisbrod were the only two playing that night.    Looks like he's continued and will have a great year this year.
Jared was a 1st team all-district selection last year. He focused on High Jumping during the Spring/Summer, but he hasn't missed a step from where he left off last year. We will need him to continue scoring which will take pressure off of English and Weisbrod.

 9.
here is my  opinion: Central with their gifted athletes will take first Nederland will take second because of their experience Ozen- 3rd 4th?????    :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\  ;D ;D ;D
WRONG!! 1) Ozen 2) Central 3) Livingston 4) Nederland (since we lost ONE game, we will be lucky to make the playoffs).  :P

Other top scorers: Jared Lorimier 18 Weisbrod 18 Jacob Landry 12 Lorimier  has started the season strong, scoring 15 against St. Pius, 21 against HJ and 18 vs HF.
Lorimier had 18 against HJ, just sayin!!! :)
18, 21...Ur killing me Lazeek!!  ;D Point being that he is scoring.

They're like the old Paul Westhead Loyola Marymount teams, but much more explosive. I could go out tomorrow and shoot alone for an hour and have a hard time scoring half of that. I saw the story and he took 108 shots, 71 of which were threes. He jacked it up every time he touched it. It's an incredible accomplishment nonetheless. BTW- A kid on the OTHER team scored 70.
reminds me of the Marble Falls vs Boerne Champion football game, Marble Falls QB breaks the record but BC's QB sets one as well with no recognition lol
Nobody ever remembers who lost. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how soemone can get that many shots up in a 40-minute game...
He took a shot every :20 according to ESPN.

 14. Final: Nederland 83 HF 36 Looks like Ned came to play tonight!
 15. End of 3rd: Ned 52 HF 29
 16. Half: Nederland 42 HF 18
 17. After 1st Q, Ned leads 19-9. English had 10 of those points; hopefully he learned his lesson.

HJ has won a few state titles, Nederland zero. Ned has only beat HJ once, which was two years ago.
I'm not sure about 2 years ago but Nederland beat HJ in @ HJ 2008 with seniors: Josh Dean, Jordan Pitts, Francis Torres, Chris Hammond, Evan Fitch, Freshman Dionte Forney...It was the first year they played and Torres was like the HJ players last night...he couldn't miss and scored 40.  HJ went on to have a good year as did Nederland.  These early games rarely reflect what a team will be by district.
Oh ya, I forgot about that year when he dropped 40. I stand corrected, Ned has beaten HJ twice.
 19. These games being played today?
 20. I'll take a 1st, 1st, 3rd, and a 5th. I have a strong feeling I won't be at the top until the end, but it's a good start!
 21.
How about Ned playing a little D and banging the boards more? I don't buy the 2nd game of the season stuff. These BB specialists have done nothing but play BB for the last three years straight, around the clock, with no other interruptions. That is one reason they caught Central and Ozen looking early in district last year. This year all of Ozen and Central's players are already on the court priming for district. Ned will be competitive in district, but their ball handlers are going to have a lot of trouble with the guards from Ozen and Central. Absolutely no aggression last night and young English needs to listen to dad more and start shooting.
As far as my 2nd game comment, I was only saying that bc we have a long season ahead, and one game the season doesn't make (for either team). I agree, English needs to listen to his dad/coach and shoot the darn ball!!  >:(
 22.
i was expecting a better game. Yeah Zach English was not very assertive.....Nederland had oppurtunities to score off of breaking HJ's press but didn't.  Nederland was in bonus for most of the 1st half, (time to get aggressive) take it to the rack but didn't settled for 3s in which they didn't make many.  . I know ned is missing a few football players, but they re not starters i know its only one game ive seenof Nederland this year but NED is not worthy of a state ranking IMO. Central and Ozen will more than likely be the front runners this year. Great Job HJ.
Keep in mind this is the 2nd game for both teams, they will likely be much different teams come district. We lost to HJ by 25+ last year, yet we still finished as co-champs with Central AND we won 29 games. I have confidence that Coach E. will use this as a learning experience and will find ways to motivate them for future big games. Additionally, give credit to HJ for making 9 3s early. They just wanted it more, IMO. They have young players wanting to prove something while Ned doesn't seem to have that same drive like they had last year. The most positive note I want to make for Ned is that we handled HJ's press much better than we did last year, but as you mentioned, Ned has to take advantage of that and attack the basket after breaking the press and not simply set up the 1/2 court offense. I didn't see the game last year, but I'm guessing that KW Park was very aggressive last year when they broke the press in the playoffs when they gave Yates such a good game. Ned's got work to do!

Not going to win any big games when one of Ur team leaders passes up shots and doesn't take it to the hole. Additionally, all of those 3s seemed to discourage Big Ned as they didn't respond like they normally do. There was no sense of urgency. Ned's 'Big 3' were all in double figures, and I think Landry had 6 off the bench, but the other Ned players did not contribute offensively. Ned needs to increase their intensity in big games like this one or they will be home early come playoff time.
 24.
Nice convincing win in the Dog Pound for the High-Flying HJ Hawks.
No doubt. We have lots of work to do. Fortunately this game has no meaning but bragging rights. Shooting 5/22 from 3 land wont win many games for you, especially when the opposing team makes 10 in the 1sf half alone!
