3.
If Silsbee stays healthy, I see them going on a very long winning streak! If somehow they get some size, I would put some good money that they give Yates a run for their money! Yates will win no doubt but it won't be a win mor than 12 points. Take that to the bank! I hate that if Silsbee wins district, they have to play Yates in the 3rd round somehwhere in Houston I bet. Id have that game played at Lamar, Lufkin, or Tyler JC just so the deve distance is fair!
Depends on how the brackets are drawn up too. May see them in the 3rd round, but may not see them until the Reguonal Finals. If Ozen had won their semi-final game this past year in the regional tourney, they would have faced them in the regional finals.

Good list, IMO. I'm sure there will be others who break through this season, but this is a solid Pre-season list!
 5. Have fun with this one Nash, I'm going to go bang my head against a wall for four hours. I'm sure I'll get a lot more out of it...  8)
Hmmm_ Hj has had one move in over the last five years and Westend just gave you a list that is considerably larger than that for Yates
Another tally in the 'L' column for DV... :o

We had one kid on this past year's team who transferred from Vegas during the summertime. We all know how Nederland basketball is now a National phenomena!  ::) ::) This coming up season, we will have one football-first kid who transferred from HF before his Freshman season who will join the team in December. At least TEN other people have made this same claim about Yates, yet you are in denial...

Why did they not attend any of the other 50+ HISD High Schools? Either way you slice it, they are an All-Star team from Houston. The list you and AAW provided could actually compete against an All-Star-like team such as Yates. No way is it fair to HS kids who compete against them.

DV DID provide a list of 10, and then a couple of more were added. So the list is an even Dozen! I actually agree with DV's list. There may be a few who surprise us, but for now those are the top players GOING IN to the season. Who will be the best players AT SEASONS END will be the fun part.

Here's there record with LCM (a 4A school incase you didn't know) [Hidden Content] Here's another one with a 3A school Jasper [Hidden Content] Last year they took the 20-4A district champs to overtime and came very very close to winning. I think that speaks for itself. What has Coldspring done against the greats of SETX?
coldspring beat WOS last year in playoffs. So that would make them better than WOS advancing all the way to the semi's i believe. The year before that they played for the state championship. Do not get me wrong WOS is very good, but the simple fact is Coldspring is better.
The past 4 years yes Coldspring has had the upper hand but lets check consistency here. Who has been consistently good?
True WOS has been a better program over time, but i think, this is just my opinion, that Coldspring is the best small school team is setx this year, so they have the best chance of beating the other teams like WB. Not saying that they would, but i think they have a better chance. Just because WOS has been better in the past that does not mean that they are better in the present.
hate to disagree with ya two cents, but the WOS of now in no way compares to the WOS of old. I know, I played against them. Today, Coldspring is the better team and they have proved it. I saw the playoff reel. As far as SETX, seriously, who is gonna match up with PAM? And don't say Westbrook(not this year).
WOS is everyone's favorite example of a team dropping from 4A to 3A and not dominating 3A. It also is worth noting that the 4A teams of SETX are generally among the weaker districts of 4A. The 4 playoff teams in PAM's district are light years beyond WOS and it should not really be up for debate.
Since 1985, WO-S has been the most consistent FB program in SETX! Winning 138 district games and losing only 16 from 1985-2011 WOS dominated their last year in 22-5A before dropping to 4A in 1986. They won state in 1986 and 1987 in class 4A. They were state runner up in 1988 (we had them beat that year, BTW  >:( and the following year) and they finished state runner up in 2000 as well. They dominated District 20-4A for 15 years or so. Not sure what they have done (or not) in class 3A, but they usually go deep in the playoffs. WO-S has been losing numbers more rapidly than most schools, and I believe that is why their dominance has diminished (somewhat) over the past few years. Not to mention losing a legendary coach in Dan Hooks last year. They are the MOST consistent team (from SETX) year in and out.
Really? I think the post was in reference/response to the previous post concerning 1A. SA is the top 1A team in SETX.
I will make an early prediction and say that SA will make a deeper run than any team in the area. Not only are the Wolves dropping to 1A, but they have tons of kids returning. However, as far as being able to compete with top 4A/5A teams, I doubt they could do that. But that's not comparing apples to apples. Do any of us expect Sam Houston to be able to compete with aTm or Texas? Sam Houston will begin the season with high hopes since they are returning a lot of kids from last year's team, but they lose to aTm and UT 99/100 times. Good luck SA!

Have you ever seen any of Coach E's team's blow many people out? Just not his style. Could have scored 100 on Vidor Tuesday, but called off the 'Dawgs'! Last time I checked, a W is a W. Ok, fine. Not a lot of talent in Ozen the past 2 seasons. Say what you want, but are you seriously telling me that Nederland is overflowing with talent? Did you see Smith and Cunningham and the PG from last year when they were Freshman? And I NEVER downplayed what Boutte accomplished, it was phenomenal. But it doesn't mean that Nederland's win streak would still not be sitting at 27 today if Boutte were still the coach! You admitted that the 2004 team AND the past 2 Ozen team's were not full of talent. Vidor beat Ozen when they had 'less talent', and Ned also beat Ozen with 'less talent'. Now IF, IF a player like Perk was on those team's, I would say, you're right, Ned would not be on a 27 game win streak. But you admitted that Ozen was 'down' the past 2 seasons, and Coach E beat Ozen in 2004 3 times in one season with a 'down' team. So since Ozen has been 'down' the past 2 years, I don't think it would have made a difference if Boutte was the coach or not.
I know i was on that vidor team and we were tied with ozen in 2003 at halftime 31-31 till we came out and the refs called 22 fouls on us and 5 on ozen that was at ozen look it up there were past refs speaking out in the bmt enterprise im trey jenkins and use to shoot tha lights out we ending up loosing 72-58 and yeah u dont c any1 beating ozen 3 times in 1 season wont happen
Was that the game where y'all (Vidor) made 18 '3s'?

 21.
I caught some of each game as they were broadcast online. All were excellent games. Three of the four finals were won in shootouts. This speaks to the level of talent and skill you witness on this level.     With all the good things happening in our area in soccer (developing clubs, players, etc.) we may one day see one of "our" (meaning from the area) teams in the final four.     Congrats to all area players and coaches! Dream big, Work hard. Achieve the impossible.
Nederland boys made it to the State Tourney (Final Four) in 1999, losing in the Championship game.
 22. The league doesn't need him. He should be banned from the league for good. Suspended 13 times for 111 games already. He will NEVER change, and he may have ended Hardin's season and possibly his career. If I had a vote, I say the NBA is better without him.
 23.
one thing to remember. an off season and summer can change things. positions change sometimes. your speedy tail back that did wonders for you last year could very well hit a summer growth spert and not be so speedy and agile anymore. just sayin.
Agree! We can only GUESS at what might happen based on what we saw last year, and what each team is returning this year. I've seen teams who lose a lot of talent to graduation (as PNG does this year), and have kids develop over the summer and win district during a 'rebuilding year'. Heck, last basketball season, after making a Regional Tourney appearance, our Nederland boys lost 5 starting Seniors plus 3 other Seniors who played a lot. This past season, we had ZERO returning starters and only two Letterman from the previous year-one Fresh and one Soph. We had other kids develop in the offseason (last Spring/Summer) and we were able to retain the District Title (Love ya DV   ;) ). Proof that ANYTHING can happen, which keeps it interesting.
 24. Nederland and Vidor are the favorites and should battle for the top spot. Central has a proven QB who can play, but will the coaching be there Soulja? LC-M should have a strong offense with a speedy running back and a seasoned QB, but will they have a Defense? Ozen lost too much, so I don't see them in the postseason based on that. Don't know much about Livingston or Lumberton, and you can NEVER (kills me to say that) count PNG out of the talk. 1. Nederland (yes, I'm a Homer) 2. Vidor (Love what Matthews has accomplished) 3. LCM (Speed Kills) 4. PNG (that hurt) 5. Central (coaching too big of a ?) 6. Livingston (u never know) 7. Ozen (Lost too much to graduation) 8. Lumberton (sorry, don't hate)
 25.
Ozen won the 4x400m by 6 seconds. How fast of split did the kid who was entered in too many events run? They have a kid that can go 47-48 but I don't know his name. If he was not the one in 4 events, I think they would have still won the 4x400m but we will never know.
maybe it had to do with Ozen trying to cover it up and not admitting what they did??
