So whats your point. You think ozen was better than ned png and vidor.
He was injured in the middle of the season during the 1st couple of district games. They played Ned to the final seconds and lost 44-41 or something like that. They were the best 4th place HS football team I have ever seen.
He wasn't injured for the Vidor game and we played down to the very last wire.
I know that he tore his ACL in his Jr year (in FB). He had surgery in the offseason, so maybe he misses the first few games of the season?? Maybe Soulja can verify? He's more of a FB guy than me.
Are y'all in reference to Ozen's Trey Green?
Yep.
Dayton has to be one of the most improved teams in the area this year. We can't overlook them.
They sound a lot like LCM with two big men, similar records, and a 4th place finish in district.
IMO talent would be all inclusive, combining athleticism, basketball IQ, court vision, discipline, unselfishness, confidence, work ethic, ability to identify and take advantage of opponents weaknesses, and ability to be a leader on the court.
I agree. The reason I started this topic is bc many have said certain teams have No Talent or this team has more talent than that team. If that's the case, wouldn't the more talented team win more so than not? It raises a question when team A has no talent, yet is winning more than team B who is suposedly 'loaded with talent'. I think 'talent' does include all of these, but some only look at one component that has been listed and make their decision based on that one quality.

His reason to not want to play Is bc he says they had injuries which is very much a legitimate reason. However it is not listed in the district rules so that is why I did not list it. Because of his injuries, he wanted to flip a coin, correct? So actually I did not omit his option. It is #4 on the list. Do u think I just made up that list? Both coaches would have had to agree to this. Nederland wanted to play for out right champs
Thank You! I've only said that 3 times, yet you are the 1st to acknowledge this FACT! The rules have changed since two years ago when Ned beat Ozen. Although Ned won, both team's are in the books as 'Co-Champs'. The rule now states that if BOTH team's agree that the game is for the outright district title, then the winner will be the team in the books with the title, less the 'Co-'. Yes Soulja, y'all blew us out in Beaumont, just like we blew y'all out in Nederland! Are you really bringing up their game in December as the deciding factor? Please! The FACT remains that Ned wanted to play a game this weekend to decide the out-right district champ, and Lee did not. Regardless of their reason, Central was CONTENT with being 'Co-Champs'! BTW-Nowhere did I say Central was scared to play the game.
Name the other reasons that was reported quoted by the Jags boss why they elected not to play this game. Stop with the selective comprehension.
That way, the Nederland kids, the Central kids, and both Coaching staffs (everyone including me and you) can be happy. ::)
Nothing would make me more happy than to see both of our schools make it that far this year. DV will say no way since our district is so weak. ::) Here is my first round prediction: 20-4A sweeps 19-4A!

Play the game for seeding only. Both team's are still co-champs 3. Concede the seeding, but remain co-champs 4. Flip for seeding, remain co-champs Nederland wanted option #1. Central wanted #4. They settled on 3.

I think it comes down to who wants it more. Gonna go with OF on this one. I think their 6th man will have something to do with the outcome! :)

Not so fast!! ;D
Central and Ozen will be as good or better than Nederland the next two or three years. nederland might win/split another title before 2015, but i wouldn't bank on it.
The EXACT same thing was said after losing all that talent to graduation last year too. ::) ::) I agree that Central and Ozen will both be better next year than this year, but both teams are losing their best players (Smith & Green). Those type of players are hard to replace. Not only does Nederland return 4 starters, but both of Ned's top 2 players (Weisbrod and English) plus 5 additional Lettermen (3 JRs, 2 Soph) return next year too. As soon as English graduates, we'll be talking about his little brother. Ned's chances at winning another title in the next 3 years look very encouraging. ;) -

After 3 straight Central wins, Ozen got them one. U can only base the outcome of this game on the 2 district matches. Nobody looks at a preseason game from over 2 months ago, and tries to make it relevant. Come on DV, I expect more out of you than that! That's weak, and you know it!!
So you are not going to count your pre-district wins? Since all that matters to you is a State Title. Heck, U barely count district titles, right? Tell me this: when the Lakers and Celtics play for the NBA Championship, do they count their regular season games? Do u think Galveston Ball said, oh ya, well y'all (Lamarque) may have won Regionals (and lost the state title), but we beat y'all twice in district? I don't think so!
NB, you seem to conveniently forgotten what was stated in that article. There were other reasons that the Central staff (not the players since i thought it was the coaches say that has the final word) elected not to play this game. Weve beaten Nederland twice already and the title would not change reguardless. Also, we dont care about the difference in seeding. Seem that your implying that Centeal is SCARED to play Nederland. Ummm. Excuse me, but WHY would that be the case?
Not scared, Central just seems content with a Co-District Championship. As I mentioned, I kinda understand that mindset since it's been 12 years since the last time they won a district title. Maybe Nederland's kids would feel the same if we had not won (or shared) the last 2 years. In my generation, 2nd didn't mean anything except that your team is sitting on the couch come playoff time. That's the mentality I am instilling in my son's mind as well. Hopefully it will pay off!
