He is nasty!
Yes right into a Brookshire Royal team that has two '6"6 post players and swept Jones' Sealy team in district by scores of 101-81 and 86-70. ;) ::) The concession had more to do with Silsbee wanting to lineup a particular warm up opponent and prepare them for some match up problems than the route thru the brackets.
Brookshire Royal Ray Johnson 6'6"  ppg 10  rb 6  bl 1 Kenton Sams 6'5"  ppg12  rb 4  bl 1 Sealy Ricky Seals-Jones 6'6" ppg 32  rb 14.7  bl 2  :o
HJ will have their hands full should they have to face Seals-Jones & Sealy.
HJ will be fine against Sealy. Brookshire Royal beat them by 20 at home and 16 at Sealy. If Royal is 18 points better than Sealy, then Sealy should not be much of a threat. Sounds like the big kid carries them in most games. He had 38 and 36 in both losses to Royal. You average 37 against a good team and lose, that shows you don't have much help, IMO.
On a neutral court...I would say that Central did them a FAVOR, by conceding...They beat them 2 out of 3 games already only losing to them at Nederland...So say thanks to Central's coach for allowing you guys to keep that CO-district title.... 8)
P-lease!!  ::) ::) ::) Hard to beat a team that many times in a year, just look at the last OZ/Central game. After 3 straight Central wins, Ozen got them one. U can only base the outcome of THIS non-game on the 2 district matches. Nobody looks at a preseason game from over 2 months ago, and tries to make it relevant. Come on DV, I expect more out of you than that! That's weak, and you know it!!
 3.
Dawg, I'm beginning to better understand the Nederland mind-set now. You all have something to prove and obviously its a respect issue. I can appreciate this.
Well, I do think their mentality is different than a few years ago when making the playoffs was considered a success. Now the bar has been set by 3 Consecutive District Titles (2 shared  ::) ), and a trip to the Regional Tourney last year, so they want more. It's only human nature, and I KNOW that U understand that type of mentality BD3!
 4. Yes, PNG! PNG has beaten Central a couple of times in the past few years, and the Reservation ain't nice. In district play, PNG lost @ Central by 10, @ Livingston by 4, @ Nederland by 2, @ Ozen by 11, and LCM by 9. So yes, a 20 point win AT the Reservation shows no sign of anyone having serious injuries. Anyway, Central is deep enough this year that they can rest those who were injured and still be AS good. Yes I know, Central has beat Ned 2 out of 3 games, but ask any coach how hard it is to beat a good opponent 3 times in one year. Valid arguments for playing or not playing, but IMO you always play this game.
well, it would seem that the great minds at HJ and Silsbee would disagree with you.  More often than not, in recent times, they have bypassed this game.
Maybe so, but they both have a play-in game this year, as they did last year. They are not AVOIDING a game bc of fear of injury. The kids work hard all year. District play, IMO, is a time to prove who is the best team in YOUR district, and for 'bragging rights'.
Dawg, you don't "play" for the district title past the last district game, UNLESS that is the agreement when going into the game..You play for SEEDING...You will be Co-Champs in the books regardless of the outcome..By the way..The last time Central won their district was when they were 5A in 1999.. ;)
Not necessarily! IF both coaches agree that the game is to determine the outright district champions. In that scenario, it DOES determine a true winner.  ;) As I said, the Nederland players voted for this after the LCM game. Ned had to 'share' the title 2 years ago with Ozen. After getting a taste of that compared to an outright District Title last year, I'm guessing they wanted the latter, hence the unanimous vote. Coach Lee and his players were okay with sharing the title, I guess. After a 12 year drought, I kinda understand that. Nederland kids just want a little more. It shows to me that they are hungry and have something to prove. Hopefully that mindset carries into the playoffs.
