29 during his Freshman year against their biggest rival....WOW!!! I knew he was good, but not that good. Wonder if he will go pro after his Frosh year?
I thought Silsbee already had experience playing against him, I also heard that, other than Seals, the rest of the team is not that great.
Yes, Silsbee did play Sealy last year. Look what playing the likes of HJ twice in district and Kountze in the warm up did for them in that game. ;) Obviously Silsbee is looking to tackle their weakness by wanting to prepare themselves for those type match ups. They have troubled the Tigers most of the year.
Humble has a couple of big men to prepare either HJ or Silsbee, and they have speed and shooters. Going to be a tough match up for anyone.
Silsbee should play Ozen, Nederland, or Central. Last years Kountze game wasn't a warm up but a practice!
Depends on what kind of team they may face in round two or three, and the other school would agree if they were to face a team like Silsbee. I don't know of any team's in 4A who play like Silsbee, except Yates. None of our local 4A schools will meet Yates until the Regional Semi's or Regional Finals, so it's unlikely that any of these schools would benefit from playing Silsbee. I could be wrong, but that's how I would look at it if I were a head coach.
Me too Nash! Can't stand when you have a trash talker and can't back it up
Or someone who hits a 3 pointer and talks trash when they are behind by 20+ with 2 minutes to play. -
Nederland at Ozen? Who you got?
Really!!!!!!!!!! After last night, I can't believe you'd even ask that question lol.......Being the underdog in football kinda added a little edge to us but in basketball being the underdog is just being the underdog
Why not ask that question? Ozen still has talent. They beat Central 2 weeks ago, then Central beat Ned last week. This should be a very close game just like the 1st meeting. -
I don't have a problem with trash talk from the opposing team. ;D
I don't think there is a place for it in HS sports. -
Nederland's 29 game District win streak was broken last Friday night against Central, and Big Ned is ready to redeem themselves. Their opponent is Ozen who defeated Central and LCM, but lost to Livingston last night. Who knows which Ozen team will show up, but Nederland better be ready. Who wins Friday's game in Beaumont?

Not that Nederland should not be COMPETITIVE, but the way they have owned 20-4A over the last two years is just not acceptable.
Just a little clarification: WHEN Nederland wins Friday night and next Tuesday, it will be 3 years. ;)
Confident that you'll beat Ozen I see. ;)
As a loyal fan, I have to be confident that we will win, but I know that Ozen has the ability to win. I wonder if Ozen will come out mad Friday night or demoralized? They prob had all kinds of confidence after beating Central. Just wondering if they have the leadership to bounce back against Nederland after a surprising loss to the Lions last night? Either way, Ned needs to treat this game as a playoff game.
I'm really don't know how to take Ozen now. I've seen them play several times this year. They've gotten a lot better than they were at the beginning of the year. Just when you get big on them, they lose to Livingston. Not a close lose, but a blowout loss. Yes, you can say that it was a trap game. But how do you think Nederland will come into this game? They sure in the heck won't be rolling over for them or feeling sorry for Ozen. Ozen will need to find a way to get that mini-swagger back they had after beating us and incorperated it into Friday night's matchup against Nederland. I'm just not really sure what Ozen team will show up.
Many on this board (including myself) thought Livingston would be more competitive this year. We played very well both times we faced them this year. Maybe they played up to their potential last night? I was impressed by Ozen when we played them last month. They played well, but Ned played better. After that game, I predicted that they would beat Central in round 2 of district play. After last night's defeat against Livingston, who knows who will show up Friday night against Ned. I know Coach E and his kids wiill be prepared for whatever Ozen throws at them. If they execute his plan, Ned wins. If they freeze up like last Friday night, it will be another long night.
Kingwood Park is the only team beside Silsbee that has given HJ a game...I wouldn't count them out. HJ only beat them by 9 and HJ beat Nederland by 25. Oh well, Good luck to Nederland and all the local teams... ;D
I've seen KW Park, and they are good, but nothing special. Very sound and disciplined. They are very similar to Nederland's style of play. I could be wrong, but I just don't see HJ beating Ned by 25 again if they played tomorrow. HJ was in mid-season form at the beginning of this season, and Nederland was still searching for their identity.
Do you think Nederland has a good enough team to make it a couple rounds deep in the playoffs...I've seen them play and it just seems like the whole district is down this year. I could be wrong...
Yes. The entire district has been down the last 2-3 years, that's why Nederland is winning. ::) But to answer your question, without being a smart-____, Nederland should win a couple of games in the playoffs. Depending on their 3rd round match up, they could make it back to Regionals again this year. The District 20-4A champion has to go through Humble to reach Regionals, and the runner up has to go through Crosby, Brenham, or KW Park to get there. I hear Humble is about as good as they were last year, and KW Park lost to HJ. So we know they are not as good as HJ, which means they are beatable, IMO.

Central has not won a district title since 1999. ::)...How about that? NEDERLAND has won a district title more recently than these three schools have...NEDERLAND..14-0...Think about that one....Lincoln is CLOSED since 2002 and has won district more recently than 2 of the three Beaumont schools... :o
Hmmm? I believe standing at attention IS acceptable, although I do place my hand over my heart. What makes my blood boil is when people do not remove their hats or when people talk and laugh during the song. I will actually say something to them afterwards if they are talking during the NA.

Good for him. Whichever university he chooses will be fortunate to have him. He has impressed me every time I've seen him play. Easily the best player in the area, IMO.
