I have none....I was simply answering your question...Is it that you thought the Nederland streak was special? Sorry to burst your bubble, but its been done before...29 district wins is commendable...but you people were acting like it was earth shattering, and it was not...its over now, so hopefully your team can refocus, and take care of business in the coming weeks....insecure? Are you kidding me?....  ::)
Actually, it's never been done in Nederland DV, so we are soaking it up. You can't stand for Nederland to be doing so well, it's comical! There is no bubble to burst, bc we are happy campers in Mid County. We are 25-6 in a rebuilding year!  :o
They haven't done anything NB.... ::).. Yes they are playing well and will likely win district 20-4A for a second straight year...I am glad Coach E has them going in the right direction...That is a great accomplishment for Nederland...MY point was it was done like that to the 10th power, and no issue was made from it as it has this season...It was done at Ozen so regularly, that it was the EXPECTATION. Lincoln too...I don't think that the PORT ARTHUR News EVER mentioned Lincoln's YEARS OF CONSECUTIVE DISTRICT WINS, as much as they have Nederland's short lived run....I guess I DO have issue with THAT, but its not personal....I wish Nederland luck this season, going forward....I think they have a great coach... he is a good guy, and I consider him to be a personal friend....and has been for the last 12 years...relax... 8)
It's all about perspective DV. Didn't say we've accomplished anything yet did I? I said we are enjoying our current success bc we haven't had any for 50+ years until recently. May not be success in your book, but it's success for a program that lived in the dweller for so many years. I think most teams who are in a rebuilding year (even HJ, Silsbee, Kountze) would be ok sitting at 25-6 at this time of the season.
Oh wait, Silsbee is at 20-7 and Kountze is 24-8 this season (both in a 'rebuilding year')!  ::)

 5.
I know it is a little North, but is still East Texas, but at Troup my senior year we finished a 10-11 year district winning streak, right at 148 straight district games I believe without a loss.  The next year Troup was down a little and lost the streak.  That was 88-98 or 87-98. They also at that time (I bet it is broken now) but they had the National HS most 3 pointers in a game certification, plaque and all, it was pretty cool.  I believe it was 23 (3's).
That's pretty cool. I remember a few of those Troup Tiger teams. Fun to watch!
 6. Silsbee and Lincoln were NOT in the same district in 88 or 89/90. So I don't know what u mean by them being in the same district until 1990.

You can't even get it right anyway. I assume you are jumping up and down from this one victory. Like I said, I compare to our past records. Who gives a crap about 30 year old games? I am constantly reminded of not living in the past.
Well, your fellow Bulldog fan did start this thread asking for comparisons, so therefore the comparisons. ::)
I was just curious about other school's win streaks. However, Dickie V has a need to make himself stand out bc of his insecurities. He directs every thread in a direction to make everyone look in the past at what he helped accomplish to make him feel better about himself. He doesn't want to talk about success unless it involves him.  :-\
 8. Just curious how Neserland's 29 game District winning streak stacks up amongst other streaks in our area? Dickie V, I know Ozen had a long streak that U mentioned a few times, how long was it? Has Silsbee, HJ, or Kountze had long District winning streaks in the past 15-20 years? I'm sure Kountze has a few long streaks. Anyone have some numbers?
 9. Speaking of FB, would you (Soulja) rather see the Central FB or BB team win? Obviously you want both, just curious which sport you have more passion (or care about more)? How about Central fans in general? I would rather see our bball team be more successful, but the entire town of Nederland is (obviously) more passionate about FB.
 10.
I wouldnt be surprised if this isnt just one of those games that makes you refocus on the real goal.. District Championship! Going undefeated is tough and a harder to do each week you get closer to that goal happening.. Dont like to lose, but this might not be a bad loss.. Lesson to be learned from this.. Just because you show up to the gym, doesnt mean you are going to win.. Lets go Dogs!
Great assessment. I agree with a lot of what u have said about this game. I know you were not at the game, but you understand the game and this team's mentality and capabilities. I'm sure the kids put extra pressure on themselves with trying to remain undefeated in district and keeping the 29 game streak alive. Now that the streak is broken, they can focus on winning district and making a run in the playoffs. A similar situation occurred with HJ a few weeks ago. They had extra pressure being undefeated AND ranked #1 in state 3A. After Silsbee defeated them a few weeks ago, I believe they can now be more focused on their more important goal (being undefeated is rarely a main goal for a team). As Stevenash said on another thread, no reason whatsoever to push the panic button. Just get back to work and come out next game with a new focus. Geaux Dawgs!!

Now, Central did shoot HORRIBLE from the charity stripe.  Now that's something that Nederland had no bearing on. We had a bearing on their poor FG shooting.
Missing wide open 3s is not considered good D. Good D was played on Weisbrod, however. We shoot our average from 3-land, and Central is forced to cover Ned outside which would have allowed Weisbrod and English to do their thing. Nobody ever got going from outside, so it was effective. I don't see us shooting that poorly against Ozen.
Nederland did pass up quite a few open 3 point shots due to the face that Central was able to close out on them faster than they were obviously expecting.  I've seen Nederland play more than once and they are the type of team if they are open or is feeling it, they will go 'bombs away'. This is just my observation.
We did pass up a bunch of open 3s bc we were not hitting them early, therefore, not 'feeling it'. I've played enough basketball in my life to know that you have to shoot through the cold spells, most HS kids don't understand that yet.

 13. [move]29!!!![/move] The number is still 29 Dickie V! That is something you can't take away from the program and community.  ;) This is a special group of kids. Being 25-6 and 10-1 during a rebuilding year is not too shabby at this point of the season. There is work to be done, and I believe in these kids and Coach E. Good luck on demoralizing someone else.  ;)
Oh, didn't see it. The refs called a loose game, and allowed the kids to play. Very physical game. A few team's have played this type of D against us this year, and we normally shoot our way out of it. Didn't happen tonight. Coach Lee's plan was to not allow English or Weisbrod to beat them, and it worked. English made every shot he took (3), and Weisbrod was held to 1 point! Somebody else needs to step up!  :-\

 19. Soulja-I am expecting to hear some praises from you about your coach. He had his team prepared for the game tonight. Props to Coach Lee!
 20. The Jags wanted it more. They played with a sense of urgency. Congrats on the W. Need to refocus and learn from this game. Still one thing that can't be taken away from us: [move]29!!![/move]
 21. Since Central is playing a triangle in 2, Lormier and Lubera need to step it up.
 22. Very physical game. Ned played a horrible 1st half but only down by 5. Those shots will start to fall in the second half. Will probably be a couple of techs as well if the refs continue to allow them to play.
 23. No way Silsbee loses after Tuesday's loss to HJ. It may be close for a while, and home court will help the Mustangs, but the Tigers will turn it on and bring home the W.
