8.
You make the trip NB-Dawg?
You know it! Very physical game so far. Hope we keep our cool.
 9.
Yeah, but don't you guys see what you are doing?  You're listing English (who is great, BTW) and Sigler (another great one, no doubt) but what about the coaches 20 - 30 years ago that were their equals... but don't have titles.  Is anyone coming to their defense right now? The sad thing is, that, even though English and Sigler are fantastic coaches, 20 to 30 years from now, they will not be listed among the Boutte's, Sutherlands, and Cotton Robinson's unless they get a State Title or two.
I realize we are entertained talking about this, but from what I know of Coach English, he won't care if he is in the same sentence as those other coaches in 30 years. He is genuinely focused on the lessons his kids learn from playing the game of basketball. I think a big reason he has been so successful in Vidor and Nederland is because he is so sincere about bringing out the best in his kids in hopes that they translate their success over into the real world. I doubt it happens, but if Coach E goes elsewhere to coach, I would seriously consider moving my family so that my son could play for him.
 10. If Silsbee beats HJ tomorrow night, but HJ goes further in the post season, who is the better team in that scenario? I know everyone would rather go farther in the playoffs, but who is the better team?
 11. I mentioned this last week: The Ned/PNG game in EVERY sport (boys and girls) is a big deal!
 12. Either way you look at it, Vidor was the better team that year. We can all agree to disagree on which team was more 'talented', more 'athletically gifted', and who the better coach might have been. Ozen went deeper and won district. I would bet that Vidor would rather have been 0-3 against Ozen that year, won the district title, and earn a trip to the regional tourney, but they did not have a favorable matchup in round 2, and they lacked playoff experience. But head to head there is no way anyone can claim that Ozen was the better team that year. 3-0 says it all.
 13.
I've seen teams with a bunch of slow basketball players out play a team of athletes many of times. Basketball skill will beat out Pure athlete all day. May not be as pretty but you will get winning results.
Has somebody hijacked Badsanta's account? I've agreed with him 5 times today already!  ;D ;D
 14. Just posted this on another thread, but I believe that just bc one has more athletic ability in no way makes one a better basketball player (aka more talented basketball player). I guess it's how the definition is perceived. I'm sure that i perceive 'basketball talent' differently than stevenash or AAW does.
 15. Just because one has more athletic ability does in no way make one a better basketball player (aka, basketball talent). Nederland has proven to have better basketball talent in 5/6 most recent meetings against Ozen.

 17.
I think getting paid 6 figures and being the AD at a 5A school had more to do with Boutte leaving Ozen than the lack of talent. ;)
True! Wonder if Coach E would go somewhere for that kind of money? Not sure what he's getting paid, and I (we) would hate to lose him. I know he loves coaching, but could you blame him for wanting to make more money?
 18.

Need to show em something after that last beat down
It will be a very good rematch. Trust me! Bring your supporters!
We will bring our supporters, but that doesn't mean Jacob Landry is going to drain 8 or 9 3's like he did last game. Ned JV played their best game of the season, IMO against Ozen.
 19.

From article it looks like Ned. JV has two losses. LCM JV has three.  I was curious about Central JV and Ozen JV.
OZEN ONE LOSS to Nederland- JV . Ozen has beaten Central twice. Ozen beat LCM twice. I think Central beat Nederland, not sure who else Nederland lost to.
I think you're right BD3. I'm fairly certain that Central JV beat Ned's JV. However, the paper is wrong about Vidor's JV beating Ned's JV.
 20.
Championships are nice and help coaches get noticed very quickly, but they arent the biggest factor. Having talent makes everything easy. Bad Coaches can look great from better players, and Good Coaches can even look bad from not good players. Success for coaching basketball, IMO, comes from being at the right place at the right time. English is in a great spot right now. Talent in Nederland keeps growing, which is making his job alot easier.. Boute was in a great spot too, and knew it was time to move on after the talent pool got smaller in Beaumont.. Boute was a good coach who took advantage of the right situation to win..
Talent keeps growing in Nederland bc English and a few others developed them through Little Dribblers. I know my son has benefitted through the program, and I've coached a few teams myself. It's a lot of fun, especially traveling to play in tourneys. Don't know if it's true, but I heard the same about Boutte's reason for leaving Beaumont. He knew the talent was diminishing, so he left.
 21.

:o...just saw the challenge...BET $250? What if I wore a Nederland District champ t-shirt to the next Nederland game or something? I would have no problem betting the money if I had any control over situation in ANY way...I can have my thoughts on it all day long, but, if I cant directly affect it...Coach English can coach...and believe it or not, I believe in his ability to get it done against the odds, but although its UNLIKELY, I am not willing to bet money against him!..I will wear a shirt or a sign or something like that.... ;)
How bout the usual bet? He wins both you will have to have a signature that says: "Coach Brian Enlgish is just as good as Coach Boutte." And he looses both then i will change my signature to: "Coach Brian English is inferior to Coach Boutte in every single way possible." Sound good?
That's hilarious VP32!  ;D ;D ;D ;D I have a friend who can print that t-shirt for him! What size do you need DV?
