  1. needville won on two good swings tonight...good game i cant think of any errors made, bc just has to bounce back thats it..needville won the first game last year and we regrouped and played solid. i hope needville got all of their celebrating out of their system tonight, they acted like they won state already, hope thats how they celebrate their last win
  2. well put cownbread, i agree with what you said. however its unreasonable to think that no one from bc will have a legit argument about this like gabe did. look at any sport in setx....now lets think about one all district selection that involved a case like this where the district winner didnt have one person on the superlative list...i challenge any person on this whole board to find one, i'll bet my foot you cant do it. i wonder what would happen if depauldrick garrett didnt get on the superlative list after football season...THIS WHOLE SITE WOULD EXPLODE FROM ALL THE CHAOS THAT WOULD FOLLOW! can you imagine an ozen player not getting such an award after basketball season?? its usually a trend. most coaches say that " with team accomplishments come individual accolades" ....well not this time however consider this, what does an all district selection mean? i mean seriously...its a way to recognize players from every team in the district. and i applaud this years idea of cutting back on all the spots, there used to be honorable mention, which is just a way at putting more names on there, and really takes away from the value of being selected. last year i got 2nd team all district dh...and my reaction was "cool" and thats about it because i knew that it was just a way at putting my name on there. all district picks really dont carry a lot of weight unless you're looking for a big scholarship or something. if there were just a handful of players selected and a bc player didnt make it then i could see getting all bent out of shape, but at the end of the day, the names i looked for were on there, and im sure thats enough for them too
  3. not to mention that select teams usually use most if not all of the players in a pitchers role at one time or another especially in younger divisions to spread the pitching load easily, never hurts to learn how to pitch. and select coaches, especially sun devils coaches, are not win-starved little league dads that will do anything to a kid for a w, atleast not in my experience
  4. it is pretty rediculous though that bc didnt get any superlative nominations having beaten everyone that is on the top twice except for monse...thats all we're saying. most valuable player of the district..most valuable to their respective team...matt hicks...top notch pitcher top notch fielder top notch hitter, top notch kid and baseball smarts.... other kids may posess some of these but matt may be the only one that supplies ALL of those qualities to the team, pitch hit field but im sure we'll trade away all our all district picks for another state run
  5. still...both teams want to win and keep mistakes to a minimum
  6. ought to be another good one too
  7. awesome comeback tonight....st thomas has some real studs in the lineup, great prelude to the playoffs after the game....i felt like a 9 year old girl at a hannah montana concert or something...seeing a texas baseball legend on your field and in your city and to be about a foot from him and have him respond to something you said was pretty special and im glad the fans and players got to see him me-"you're the man craig!!!" craig -"thank you" lol
  8. dang, must have been a pretty good game, its a good thing that bc has the warm up game to get over this, not really good to lose anytime going into the playoffs. congrats hj, i think you guys are a bigger threat in the playoffs that most people think
  9. bad luck, or just the game of baseball??
  10. bc has more than a chance....in the words of billy bryant "if you get invited to the dance, even if you're ugly, you still have the chance to dance w/ the pretty girl" you dont get the chance if you dont make the playoffs and anyone can make the case that the regional finals last year was the state tournament or state championship series between the best two teams in the state. although liberty eylau had their stud pitcher pitch the first game to get to the title game, the kid was like a 2nd round draft pick, might have been a different story had he been pitching......but hey thats just speculation
  11. very good to not only get the win but get the shut out
  12. hey hey i wasnt knockin the guy i was just saying what i saw last year and was asking about this season. and where is QF?? and i do remember a friend telling me about the homerun off hicks in jasper. really do hope i get to see him play in the playoffs
  13. are you kidding? losing to a 4th or 5th place team in your district relatively close to the playoffs is a HUGE deal. the best thing for bc would be to run rule this team in 5, time to start expecting that every time you take the field, no room for doubting yourself now and saying "well maybe we'll win in 7"
  14. how do we even know he wants to focus on baseball? he already has a scholarship to mcneese to play wr am i right? all this "next johnny damon" stuff and the power he is displaying is all news to me, last year all i saw him do was bunt and run, granted he did that well. i just havent seen him play this year and i wish i have, hey maybe i'll get to see him play against bc in the playoffs, that would be fun. how did he do against hicks, did he have any hits?
  15. yea hes pretty good
  16. bc became the clear cut #1 team in my eyes last night, come back win on the road in the cold after being down five runs, talk about bouncing back and hicks settling down....i think its a little early to start crowning region champs though, there are two teams up north named carthage and lufkin hudson that can play ball in this region.
  17. i'll say this, i like bc in this game untill their most hated letter in the alphabet creeps in, E, i think that if they even make one error, they will probably lose the game, time to really focus on defense, double digit errors kept us from a state title last year, and nearly cost them the game earlier this season. team with least mental mistakes and errors wins. pitching will be even, it comes down to execution. x-factor: jasper fans hightening the atmosphere to feel like it did at vincent beck
  18. probably matt johnson from lcm....that guy can hit
  19. in the regular season/ district below one is good, anything else is average, and if its above 3 they shouldnt be pitching regularly, its just my take and personal experience in watching guys like angelle stringer and just the lights out pitchers in the area having lines like .018 era or something crazy like that when you move into playoffs im sure its more common for those guys to creep into the 1-2 range simply because the level of competition rises. if those kind of pitchers have runs scored on them its usually because of the other team nickle and diming them w/ angelle bolton told me one time "if hes on....might as well bring a lawn chair to 2nd base"
