  1. Answer this question.  What would be so bad with letting the sport that is in season work on their sport during the athletic period?  They could still lift.  They would just do it when the HEAD coach of that sport wanted to.  Is that some sort of crime.  I believe that is what most other 3A schools do.
  2. If the discipline is an issue, then why wasn't this done last year after the punishment was handed down.  Why didn't they go after the basketball coach, who turned the kids in.  Why didn't they go after the principal who handed down the punishment.  It is easy to blame it on the discipline and not dig and realize that maybe the running of he athletic program is the issue.  The first poster hit the nail on the head.  The kids that don't play fooball, don't like doing football workouts.  Go figure. I have had a kid in this program all three years Huck has been here and the comment about it being the same way all three years is completely untrue.  This year for instance, the athletic period changed from last period to in the middle of the day.  This was done so everyone could go through the same workouts all year.  The only problem was, everything changed once football was over.  During basketball, which my son plays, they had to go through offseason workouts, except on game days.  How gracious.  It wasn't this way last year.  Why did it change.  I guess after school practice is the only time that they get to work on the sport that is in season.  How many other schools that are in our district work their programs this way. I guess the bottom line is, he is a great football coach, but there are more kids who don't play football than do.  Why is the athletic program centered around the season of one sport?  It doesn't matter to me, my kid is now done, but don't blame it on three kids discipline when that probably has nothing to do with it.  Dig a little deeper.
  3. Just get good advice.  Hold off on getting an agent.  The tournament isn't even over yet.  You never know who might come out and who might stay.  There were some surprises last year on kids staying in school.
  4. If he isn't being looked at in the first round then he should stay in school and get his degree.  I hope he is getting good advice.  He has really improved over the past three years.  Just watching him play this year, he didn't strike me as a NBA player yet.
  5. How much does the Alamo Dome hold for basketball.  Only so many people will come.  If you get too big, it will seem empty in a big arena.  The drum has only been capacity a few times the last 10 or so years.  Personally, I would hate for it to be moved to a different venue, but the lack of hotels, parking, and other issues might be worth moving it.
  6. You can't take someone lightly at the STATE TOURNAMENT.  They did make it to the Drum.  It is not the first round of the playoffs.
  7. Wasn't Sigler at Clarksville last year?
  8. I never doubted that HF could make the playoffs and beat Cleveland.  My issue has always been that you couldnt count out OF and WOS for that spot.  I knew all alonog that it would be a dog fight.  I just was always pulling for the Bobcats.  Good luck against Navasota HF.  Keep 21-3A rolling.
  9. Let it go 12gage.  Good luck to the Longhorns.  Now that my Bobcats are out, it is time to cheer on the rest of 21-3A.  I think the Longhorns have a great shot at beating Cleveland.
  10. WOS didn't blow OF out the first time.  They won by 11 and were only up 6 with 2 min to go.  I hope the Cats come out with something to prove and something to play for again.
  11. Wow.  So much heart and hurt in these kids.  I hope they come out and play like they did on Tuesday and shock all of SE Texas this weekend.
  12. Many times teams with a lot of heart can beat teams that are more athletic.  That is why there is a tie in 21-3A for 3rd place.
  13. It is more than just slowing the game down when you are on offense.  You have to make the tigers move the ball while they are on offense as well.  The tigers defense can speed things up offensively but a team must try to control the tempo on defense also.
  14. I don't know about WOS JV being best around.  They lost to OF last night by 20 and only beat them by 2 at WOS.
  15. As a member of the OF community, I want to say how proud I am of these players and coaching staff.  They have gone through more in the past 6 or 7 months than most teams ever with the loss of one of their teammates.  They looked tonight like they had something to prove and they were playing for someone.  I hope this carries over and we see something special this weekend and who knows, maybe next week.  I think those 9 players and 3 coaches would all agree, this one is for you, Grey.
  16. Not every thread has to become DV and somebody elses arguing grounds.  Why do teams always have to be put down when trying to prove your point.  Nobody on here said anything about OF being world beaters, but you get on here and dog them.  Are they the caliber as Ozen or Wheatly.  No and never claimed to be, but 9 men just fought their butts off tonight to play another day.  Quit dogging them.  Just a proud parent.  Sorry.
  17. I have to pull for my Bobcats.  We should have won at WOS.  Down 5 or 6 with a minute to go.  Gave up way too many offensive rebounds.  I think that WOS had more offensive rebounds than we had total.  If we clean that up, I like out chances.
  18. Both coaches have to agree to flip.  If one wants to play, then you play.  If the coach refuses, then it is a forfeit and the other team gets the better seeding.
  19. I think we can all agree that kids will be kids.  The real question is to what standard do the coaches hold the kids actions.  What are they teaching the kids about sportsmanship.  Nowadays, like everything else, many kids are not learning it at home.  This teaching of sportsmanship should start at a young age also.
  20. I hope Buna makes it because they won't even be in the hunt the next two years in 21-3A.
  21. It is in Orange and Come on WOS.  Us Bobcat fans need WOS to win to havea shot at a three way tie.
  22. So what does sportsmanship include.  Running your mouth during a game?  Heck, even pregame?  Grabbing other players in inappropriate spots during a game?  Where do you draw the line between trying to get into someones head and being unsportsmanlike?
  23. That would be up to the coaches to decide.
  24. What has happen in order for the 3 way tie to occur for 3rd place.
  25. So if you are up one and you see what you think is a wide open lay-up, you don't shoot it.  You would do what? Wait for someone to foul you so you MAY make 2 free throws.
