Sislbee missed the same point blank shots in the first half. They just didn't get the offensive rebounds. OF did a much better job of blocking out in the 2nd half. OF calmed down and quit turning the ball over. Yes, Silsbee was still applying full court pressure. Yeah, maybe the intensity wasn't quite as much, but OF still made better decisions. They must get past BC and then play like they did in the second half against WOS the whole game. As far as Hayes. He played with a lot more composure than against HJ. Yeah, he didn't score much, but he was hitting the boards. I think it is pathetic that some of you guys dog 16, 17, and 18 year old kids. You think Hayes had anything to do with that ranking. You dog his playing and say he is no good and doesn't deserve that ranking when he didn't ask for that ranking. He has struggled the last few games, but those teams game planned around him. Does that mean that he is as good as Shannon or Jarvis. No, but I doubt that he asked to be included in the same company with him. Some of you need to get a life and quit betting on how many points a high school kids scores. I hope your kid never has to go through reading crap like that. PATHETIC.

There are only 4 seniors on OF team this year. One of those didn't go there in JH. Another one was on the "B" team. 2 "A" team kids from JH. You don't play with only kids in your class once you get to high school. It is the best that play varsity. You cannot compare JH because of that. You can't out athlete kids as you get older. You have to get more basketball skill. BC kids devote that time to get better skill wise to baseball, not basketball. Sad truth, but you better learn to deal with it. Only one class in recent memory wasn't that way at BC. It was the 2006 group who went to the playoffs. A lot of baseball kids played basketball.

21-3A has represented region 3 the last 3 years at the state tournament with 3 different teams. They currently have 2 in the top 15 in the state. how can you say they (silsbee and HJ are down). Who in region 3 is going to beat them? Navasota? They lost one of thier best players to LSU for football and the big guy hasn't been the same this year. Cleveland? They self implode in the playoffs every year. Who else? Bullard? Mexia? I would still put my money on district 21-3A. I say the Bobcats are getting closer and I do think it will be this year or the next where they knock off one of those teams. Not calling for a district championship (yet) just an upset.

It might not show from the meeting in EC but the gap is getting closer between these two. The two freshman teams were close last year. OF JV beat HJ at OF and almost beat them at HJ. OF varsity only lost by 2 at OF. Yeah the game at HJ was 15-20 but it was close at the half and HJ went on a run in the 3rd. Keep this in mind. OF had lost an overtime game the night before to Liberty Hill in the EC tournament and played a game that morning before they played HJ. I will be the first to admit that OF has not been playing very well as of late and HJ has been playing a lot better than at the beginning of the year. Maybe not Tuesday, but in a meeting very soon, OF is going to beat HJ at the varsity level. Be ready to eat your crow, because beating somebody by as much as you want will not happen on Tuesday. Who Believe!!!!

I was at the game. Orangefield played a lot better than they did in the EC tournament or against Kelly. Legacy shot the ball extremely well. Also Legacy attempted 16 more free throws than OF 27-11). I don't know why you didn't see this coming. Legacy lost to WOS in overtime over the holidays. They are not a bad team. OF shot the ball better and played a lot harder on the defense than the last few games. They still need some key players to step up, but they are moving more in the right direction. Yes, they do need to play better or WO-S will take the third spot. There will be no sneaking up. It is obvious they are good. HJ and Silsbee better watch out for WO-S as well. They are as hot as anybody right now. As far as OF goes. They are really missing some inside game. Grangers absence from last year is very obvious. It is hurting them on both ends of the floor. They also need to work on their decision making some. The guards make questionable decisions at times. I have faith. They will do what needs to be done.

Bobcat05, they have 4 seniors (1 of whom quit and just came back). 1 of those is a captain and has been playing much better since the evadale tournament. He has probably been the most consistent bobcat. As a whole, the team has been playing very lazy. They played one good game in the ec tournament against LH. All the rest, they looked like they would rather be on Christmas break still. I hope that some things get shook up soon or it will be too late. Shake it up coach.

I'm here Bobcat05. I don't mind them calling them out. They need to step up. Fans and coaches should not need to motivate these kids. What are they playing for? They are on the floor competing against a team that beat Ozen, and they can't come out and play hard. I don't have any defense for that. Coach needs to step up. Ride a little. Kids need to step up. I know who the captains are on this team and they need to play and lead. Quit bossing teammates around. Wildcatter is right. It is going to be a long district if they can't figure out what they are playing for. Finally get to the meat of the schedule and they can't seem to play hard. Sad. Come the end of district. Let's see if they are happy with the results. By the way. I could really care less if you came to a game. Thanks for defending the Bobcats though.

There are 5 4A teams in the tournament (Central, Huffman (3A?), Vidor, PN-G, and Santa Fe). There are also 4 3A teams. Then Richard Milburn and Legacy. I would not be surprised if Central loses a game in this tournament. Gonna take somebody for granted after the Christmas break.

I think the OF supporters would like to thank you for you concern for the program and its progress. Lets not beat around the bush though , I think what wildcatter is sensitive about is that you only come to the boys games when the girls don't play and seem to always, both last year and this year, find something wrong with the way that it is being run. Last year, we didn't press enough or run up and down the floor enough. This year, we haven't played a tough enough schedule. I am sure that when you played in 05 that your schedule was top notch and didn't play any 1As or 2As. Oh wait a second. I supported the bobcats then too. I remember us playing Sabine Pass and I don't remember many 4A being on that schedule. Seems like we made the playoffs that year. Look at last year. I didn't miss a game. We played the same schedule and established some confidence and team unity during that time. I talked to coach about the schedule after your last past after SP. He said that he tried to schedule people, but dates didn't match up or they didn't want to play us (no open dates). It takes two to tango. We will see you after the holidays though while we are playing in East Chambers against good competition. Or maybe at Coldspring or Kelly. Oh no probably not. The girls will be playing.

You can go to the UIL website and look at the volleyball playoff brackets. It will be the same as those. There are some interesting byes that will take place if you get the 3rd seed in district 21-3A and win your 1st playoff game. You automatically get a bye to the regional quarterfinals.

Have any of you actually tried to schedule. You don't just say, hey I am going to play this team. You have to both have an opening on the same day. Maybe some of those great 2A teams that you stated were contacted and didn't have any open dates. Maybe some of those 4A teams you stated were contacted also and don't want to play a 3A team because if they lose it looks bad. Especially if they lose to OF. I agree, their schedule hasn't been the toughest, but some of it is out of their control. Silsbee and Nederland pulled out of their tournament this year. They also played 2 4A teams in thier tournament anyways. They are going to the EC tournament with a quality field. They also still play @ Kelly (who beat Ozen) and @ Coldspring before they open district.

First of all, you didn't beat LCM by 30. Score was 69-56. I believe that is 13. Still a good win. LCM is obviously playing much better since that game though. They beat HF by 51 and almost beat HJ. Also, BC beat Lumberton and LCM and lost to PNG. OF lost to Barbers Hill and Nederland. The 4As are very different. Also, don't compare Reynolds to Hayes. There is no comparison. I am sure that Reynolds is a good player for you, but seriously. He doesn't average 18 a game. He scored 20 against LCM. That was his best game. Don't get me wrong. BC has improved. They play as a team this year. You are moving in the right direction. You never know what might happen once district starts.

There were kids on that team that played better than him once district rolled around. Then he didn't play the last part of the year due to suspension or whatever. That is probably why.

Don't think they are a big deal. I just don't understand why they have to be different in this district from every other district in the state. All Region and All State teams have been selected but this district can't seem to have their all district meeting in the three weeks after the season is over. It just doesn't make any sense.

This is the only district in SE Texas that does it this way. It has been like this the past few years. You can say it should be done, but look at who is in charge of organizing it and you will see why it is different. There is plenty of time right after district to get it done. If it is such a hassle for the 1st place team to get it organized, then maybe it should be assigned to someone who doesn't make the playoffs. They have extra time. By the way, it is scheduled for Wednesday.

Not only are two of the teams from 21-3A in the regional finals again, but OF, the third place team this year, won a playoff game easily and played Navasota to a close game as well. Definitely one of the best districts in the state and will be even better next year.

Why don't you hecklers just text all of your side comments to one another and try to talk about some basketball on here. American educational system at work.

Good point. I know the assistant at Silsbee is a basketball guy too. Hey coaches an AAU team during the summer. Or at least he used to. I agree. Anytime you have guys that can help basketball not only during basketball season, but during the preseason and offseason, it is beneficial to the team. Not too many 3A and under schools get that privilege.

I believe he was trying to explain why the Assistant was doing most of the coaching. People were dogging Williams and they were trying to explain some stuff. Maybe the matter is personal and doesn't need to be talked about specifically. The reason the Silsbee Assistant is doing most of the coaching is because of personal reasons. Leave it at that. None of your business.

Maybe it is not that we aren't good enough. Maybe it is just not any of our business. Not everything needs to be public knowledge.

Anybody know when the all district selections are so we can see what the coach's think. That is really all that matters. What do your colleagues think. We can talk about it on here all we want, that is what the forum is for, but what do the other coach's think.

Shackbully you made a point to talk about how OF got blown out by Silsbee one game in district, yet said "Whether some HJ games were close or not is irrevelant". How can the fact that Silsbee got beat twice by HJ by 20 and OF got blown out by Silsbee once matter, but HJ barely beats WOS, Jasper, and OF and it is irrelevant. That makes no sense. You can't use the scores to compare only when it is good for your team.

So informer, who would you take away from OF and there be nothing to discuss. If you can take away one person from those two teams and the whole dynamic change, then who would you take away from OF. Maybe you can't come up with one. Maybe that is why the OF coach should be coach of the year. He doesn't have just one player that takes over.
