Parts of this conversation remind me of the first state basketball tournament game I ever saw in person. One team had two little Hispanic kids, two little white kids and one really tall (large) black kid in the middle. It was Shaquille O'neal. All the four other kids needed to do was break the press and get it to the big man. Lol.

I saw where Ec AND New Waverly plan to be part of a regional tournament next Friday in Madisonville. NW at 6 and EC at 8. This is from a Twitter post so not sure how reliable it is.

A Lorena Basketball Twitter account posted that a regional tournament of sorts will play Friday in Madisonville. New Waverly plays at 6 and EC at 8.

A shout out to my buddy Andy Evan's for being named by the UIL as one of the top 100 Texas high school football coaches of all time.

Longview is still playing football, so they may have been shorthanded as well.

I haven't followed Tatum much since my friend quit coaching there, but hardly ever was the other team faster than Tatum.

Lindale's RB is 6' 198 lbs and has 1765 yards and 30 touchdowns. He had 6 TDs last weekend in their win against Kilgore. He is committed to Baylor.

Being that 5a and 6a are still playing district ballgames, finding normal playoff venues is going to be tough.

I heard, but can't confirm, that Ec will play either Crockett or Trinity Thursday night at Woodville.

How long has it been since EC has been someone's homecoming opponent?

I was a student at Anahuac when Basinger joined the staff there in the early 80s. He was a great coach and that voice of his was unmistakable. RIP coach.

One possibility for allowing small schools to begin as scheduled is that spring sports rely on kids playing fall sports to a large extent. That's not as big a deal with large schools.

Wonder if they move they state championships from one location? Given the circumstances it probably doesn't make sense to bring multiple schools and communities to one location.
