God bless the entire Barbay family at this time of loss.  Prayers from Buna.  Our area has lost another great one.

Have heard he is doing fine.  Local Buna nurse said he had high blood sugar count and accelerated heart rate.  Taken to St.E right after start of second half.  Our prayers are with Coach and his family from Buna.

Unbelievable performance by the Cougars, Newtons speed just a bit too much.  Like I told you all earlier this week, don't be suprised by the Coogs.  There is no quit in these boys, more heart than you can even imagine.  112%.  Great effort Buna Cougars!!  Great game by both teams.  Word from local Buna nurse who checked on Coach Barbay before he left, high blood sugar and accelerated heart rate.  Prayers from your Buna family to Coach Barbay and his family.  Get well soon.

We get it, Newton is good.....nothing new there.  Good luck to all tonight.  May tonight end better than last Friday.  Prayers for all.

The real numbers are about to start counting, district games!  Max Preps is useful, but not a complete site for information. 

I never predict games on here and won't start now.  But don't count out the Cougars so soon.  The defense is very strong, outside containment will be the key, keep 'em between the tackles and Buna will have success.  Let the Eagles spread their wings and get outside, yes, it will be a track meet.  Buna won't lay down, it will be a hard fought game.  Go Cougars!!!  See you in Buna Friday night...

I thougt I had finished shedding tears, but here I go again after reading this.  Thank you for this perspective.  It will help us all heal.

Fox Sports High School Scoreboard Live just closed their show by dedicating it to Reggie Garrett and showed a picture of him in a moment of silence to end the show.  So I am sure not only the prayers of our community are there for the Garrett family, but those of the state as well.  The replay of the show comes on at 9:00 AM tomorrow on Fox Sports Southwest if anyone cares to see the ending.  Not sure that anything makes it better right now, but they did a good job in dedicating the show as did our local sportscasters with a tough, tough subject.   

Good to see Hank Jones back on the field.  EC is a different ballclub with him there.

Not really an embellishment, #42 and #71 were pretty physical on defense.  #5, #25 and #3 all had great speed.  #5 ran their only TD from 69 yards, nobody on Bunas' squad came close to catching him once he got outside.  I didn't say Hemphill was a good football team, they just had more talent, but just couldn't find a way to get it done.  Anyway, I am just pretty proud of the way our Cougars played!

Buna wins 34-6. Once again, Cougar defense was just nasty.  Can't say enough about that group of young men. Hemphill was physical and had quite a bit speed, but Buna just kept shutting them down.  Coogs offense looked pretty solid in their final tuneup before district scoring 4 TD's.  Jacob Craft, hurting coming into the game, looked pretty sharp running the ball, racking up 3 touchdowns.  Great win Cougars!!!  Let's get ready for district.  See you in Buna Friday night. Thoughts and prayers out to the Garrett family and WO-S.  Terrible loss.

Whatever your opinions, whatever your hometown, it'll be settled on the gridiron not on here. As I have posted several times already this season, this is going to be fun watching scores every Friday night coming out of this district.  No doubt, Newton, Anahuac are the best of the best, but Buna, EC, Woodville and Hardin will be fighting every week to claim that 3rd playoff spot.  Buna has one of the best defenses around with a solid running game behind a solid line, Woodville has numerous athletes and will be a bit unfamiliar to some of the district foes, EC has the D1 QB and a blossoming runningback, and Hardin just lets it all hang out on every play. Does that make WO-S the underdog in district?  That could be a dangerous position for the rest of the teams to put the 'Stangs in!  Look out!!

Wow, I didn't know we were being graded on our posts.  I apologize for all of us non-educated posters. 

I don't know guys, this one should be a battle.  Both teams smoked 4A Vidor.  Bridge City looks pretty tough, oof course so does Kirbyville.  Wish we wreew off next week.

Solid win Cougars!  Second half was typical Buna football, ground control.  Offensive linemen were gasping for air due to the long sustained drives.  Dropped passes and fumbles in first half really hurt the Coogs, but those problems seemed to be solved in the second half.  Hamshire-Fannett has quite a bit of talent and played a solid game.  See you in Hemphill!  Go Coogs!!!

Congrats on the win AP.  10-2A is going to be fun. 

Congrats 'Cats on the win.  Evans is a hoss, he ran hard for OF all night  Moss was everywhere on defense for OF.  Buna defense looked solid, but spent way to much time on field.  Offense needs a spark, let's start that fire next week against HF.  Go Cougars, we are proud of you!

This game was so good, they should have charged everybody an exit fee!  Wow what a ballgame!  Both pitchers threw great games, Bellow was quite impressive.  Well worth the trip from Buna to watch this one.  Congrats Big Ned!
