2-0 Buna Bottom 4th.......Josh Clark on hill looking good for the Coogs.

Hard fought battle....4-4 going to bottom of 5th, 3 runs scored on good hits by Coogs in bottom of 5th and some mighty solid relief pitching by Jacob Clark.  Cougars pull it out, 7-5.  Warriors have really improved and gettin' stronger.  Keep it up Buna, 3 more wins to another district title!!  Good win tonight!

Coached Price for a few years on a select team, probably the best all around athlete I have ever seen or coached.  Speed, size, strength, you name it, he has it.  Great to see him doing well!!  Keep it up Price.  Great parents as well.

I think ESPN e-60 had a report on him as well.  Hitting 500 ft homeruns, clocked around 90 mph on gun as well.

Congrats to Hank Jones for district MVP, well deserved!  Congrats to all these young men who worked so hard all year long to get this recognition at the end of the year.  Can't wait until September 2010!

Congrats to another Coach Barbay (all 3 in the playoffs!)

I told ya'll the predictions were going to get ugly.  Biggest key is for Buna to keep the ball on the ground (Clark, Craft, Williams and Carr) and win TOP.  Newton is going to have some big plays, thats a given.  Defense has to force Newton to run up the middle, Moss and Blessing stuff the middle pretty well, and Hawthorn and Baxter turn alot of plays inside as well.  Newtons offense is a bit of a step up from AP, EC and Hardin.  No predictions as always from me, but should be interesting game.  Good luck Cougars!     

Thanks NOTWENS for the conservative prediction.  I am sure most people won't be that nice to the Coogs.  Played a solid game tonight against the Panthers, a few key penalties, 1 turnover and some great pass defense from Anahuac kept us from punching in a few more scores.  Good win to the Panthers and Coach Barbay.  See you in Lumberton next Friday night!  Let's go COUGARS!!!

Gotta agree with ECBucFan, taking nothing away from Hardin boys, they played their best game against us last night, but does anybody really want to be in a district where there are 5 legit teams out of the 6?  Not me...although playing better comp does make you better, to an extent, but it really hurts your playoff chances.  I am really hoping that alignment does not take place.   

It should be another 23-AA battle.  You just can't make predictions based on previous scores, these are all teenaged boys.  EC beats Anahuac 14-13, EC beats Buna 7-0, EC beats hardin 42-7, Anahuac beats Hardin 55-0. I mean anything can happen at anytime.  Good luck to all, but GO COUGARS we believe in you!!  Playoff bound!

Another great football game.  Props to the Hardin QB, took a licking from the Coogs D and kept on coming back for more, everytime it seemed like we had Hardin in a corner, they would come back out fighting again.  Great game Buna, lets' get some playoff action!  Go COUGARS!!!

Somebody made the comment earlier that Lumberton was having a bad season.  I think if you look at the scores, they lost 3 games in district by less than a combined total of 15 points correct?  Tough district anyway.  Sounds like they are more than competitive.  You can't win them all.  Keep it up Raiders!

Looks like Jones had another great game. Congrats Bucs....next week should be for the district title, Anahuac at East Chambers. I'll be there since we're off.

Defense has really started shutting opponents down and the offense is moving and controlling the ball well and also eliminating turnovers. D-ville in 2 weeks then the big finish, Hardin and Anahuac. Go Cougars keep it rollin'!

Could and should be another solid district game. Hardin knows they have to bounce back, EC knows another win puts them 1 step closer to a district title, which will be on the line in a few weeks when EC and Anahuac meet, if they can get by Hardin. This areas 4A, 3A and 2A district races are going to be great all the way through seasons end.

We need some of them blue ones' here in Buna!

What was wrong with Villemez, why didn't he play much? Flu bug? Congrats Anahuac, big win!

I agree with you. They were solid, just young. Keep up the good work Coach Carpenter. The offense they run can be very effective, a number of times the little screens they run worked very well against us. We would get good penetration and flush the QB back, then he'd throw a little dump pass and pick up the first down. Look for good things from the 'Horns very soon.

Solid win for the Cougars. Offense was not at it's best, but QB carried the team when he needed to. Tarkington played a better game than the score showed, they have some athletes there, just need some maturity. The announcer for Tarkington stepped over the line way to many times. Nothing bad, but you just don't cheer for the home team as the public address announcer. PA guy should be unbiased. Great game Buna!
