  1. Fumbles, penalties and Huckaby got the Coogs tonight. Both teams played hard, another good battle between the 2 teams. Huckaby does one heck of a job of hiding the ball. He kept us off balance all night. Congrats 'Cats! Keep the faith Coogs! We all bleed BLUE!
  2. Should be another good one, last years went to OT. Buna by a TD.
  3. The comment was made earlier, that the new turf will help the Hardin program...how? Are kids from all over Southeast Texas gonna transfer to Hardin to play 5 games a season on the turf? Don't think so. No doubt it is great and our trip to Hardin will be much nicer now, but I don't think it is going to make their program any better. That is all up to the coaches and kids! Congrats on the field improvements! But how about some lights for the baseball field so we don't have to come over at 4:00 anymore...
  4. Tough loss for the Cougars. You hate to end another great season this way, but no doubt, great way to battle back and never give up in the last inning. Congrats the Shelbyville and solid pitching by Estes #4. The seniors, Shep, BC, Hillin and Brewster will be missed and congrats to all 4 on some great years as Cougars. As far as the future, looks like it will be the Clark and Clark show on the bump in 2010 followed by great support in Baxter, Baker, Hicks and Hale. Seniors Baker, Baxter and Clark will be the leaders on next seasons squad joined by Juniors Clark, Terrier, Hawthorn, Hale and Hicks. These boys have played together for a long time, they should really gel by the time district rolls around in March '10. Can't wait til next season! Congrats again Coogs on another great season!
  5. Randy Moss made a great decision choosing football over baseball. He played 4 years for McNeese, all-conference linebacker. My dad still says he is probably the best athlete to ever come out of Buna. And he can still kick your a-- if it needs kickin'!
  6. 3 more district games and then the real season begins! Keep it going Cougars!
  7. Where do ya'll buy that good stuff ya'll been smokin'? Or do you grow it yourself?
  8. Great bounce back win Coogs! Keep it up the rest of the way!
  9. Rice, if you are a real man, step up and tell us who you are! Stop hiding behind the username. We all know who each other is, except for you. Didn't your momma tell you not to say anything if you didn't have anything nice to say? Maybe your momma didn't love you enough....
  10. Pee Wee Herman or Herman Munster???? LOL
  11. Great pitching performance by Clark, Hillin hits a bomb and now 6-0 halfway thru district! Big crowd out there tonight, it is nice to see the support this team draws at every home game (and road games). Keep it moving Tuesday against the Bucs. Go Cougars!
  12. No doubt Clark has did a great job this year, but at this point, the lineup is working. They all have been a bit inconsistent at times, they are teenagers after all. When the Coogs are rolling, most of the sticks in the order can light it up. Back to best hitters ever, how about Bobby Frank, pretty good hitter back in the late '80's, played a bit at SFA. As far as bunabaseball13, he has got to be voted the best former Buna baseball player with the most and coolest tattoos now! No doubter there! Anymore awards out there?
  13. Thanks for the mention AggiesAreWe and Patriot117, but no doubt Nathan Ross, Tracy Franklin, Collin Delome, Troy Gatlin (who has yet to be mentioned here), Bucky G. had some awesome power from the time he could walk I think. Baxter is probably the best pure hitter on today's Buna squad. Now if you want to talk defense, I'm there, but I owe it all to my infielders back then, if they would have made good throws all the time, I wouldn't have looked so good. LOL...Go Cougars!!!
  14. Couldn't hold up in the state tourney? Were you there? Great baseball game, tough loss the boys played their hearts out, give a bit of respect to the players and coaches who fought so hard to get there, same as your football team did this fall.
  15. I believe that Randy Williams is still pitching professionally. No mention of him here yet.
  16. Welcome back 'Cardiac Coogs'!!! This is the team we grew to love in the state run from a year ago. Always finding a way to get it done. Big props go out to Jacob Clark (game tying 2 run homerun) and Brandon Hillin for righting the ship and being clutch on the mound when it counted. Probably not the best played game by either teams, but another hard fought one indeed. "Buna v/s Kountze 2", should be another barnburner. Go Cougars, keep fighting!
  17. Clark (Buna) did not pitch bad for Buna, but the Horns just flat out hit the baseball. From the biggest kid to the smallest, they should be a contender in a tough district. The starter for HF threw a very good game as well. Kept the Buna sticks off balance all night. Buna had bags juiced in the 4th, and he promptly struck out the next 2 batters for the Coogs. Great game HF!
  18. Any word on Buna / Lumberton game?
  19. Great game. Sheppard and Baker go yard to right for Buna. Lance Brown for Silsbee came up with the winning hit (clutch). Well played by both teams. Considering it was opening night, pitching was not too bad, the usual early season control issues, but a well played game. Congrats to the Tigers and keep moving forward to the #1 Ranked Coogs!
  20. Great win for the Wildcats, keep taking each step all the way. Coach Barbay and Anahuac, solid effort. Can anyone explain the onside kick call in the first quarter? Any refs out there? The ball clearly bounced off a kville player, recovered by Anahuac. I know it had not gone 10 yards, but the Wildcat defender did not allow it to go 10 yards. Just curious. Anyway, congrats from the Buna faithful to the Wildcats on the win and to the Panthers on a great turnaround season.
  21. This just solidifies my reasoning for not allowing my son when he was growing up , to play pee-wee football. The coaches in these leagues (mind you, not all, but most) still want to be making the hits, running the ball and being the heroes. Football brings out an adrenaline rush like no other sport (outside UFC, if you can call that a sport). It can make even the mildest of grannies scream terrible things at refs, just imagine what it can do to a grown man full (or sometimes lacking) of testerone. Good luck to the kids caught in this terrible situation. I pray for them. And all the adults involved, take a break, step back out of your kids public lives for awhile, I am sure they need it now.
  22. You wouldn't care to say from what local town these adult hoodlums were from would you....We're all a bit curious.
  23. Should be another real barnburner. Last years game was probably the greatest football game I have ever witnessed (TV or in person). EC has matured quite well with their Sophomore QB (Jones). Buna has had another solid season, just a couple of hiccups coming in. As far as the younger Craft, I think it was a hip pointer (second hand info), he should be ready to go. Go Cougars!
  24. Gotta love that Panther confidence. Might be talkin a bit much trash, but at least he believes in what they are striving to accomplish. Good luck Anahuac from the Buna faithful!
  25. Couldn't have sad it any better myself Bobcat55. Fumbles may have cost us the Anahuac game(they played better), fumbles may have cost us the Hardin game (Hardin just whooped us). Questioning play calling or schemes is a right every football fan has, but on a forum where so many young football players hang out, it could lead to some dissention among area teams. As I have stated all year long, I do not predict the outcome of high school athletics, the reason, they are kids, you just never know what is going on in their heads. Praise them for their efforts, question the coaches on your own time. Go Cougars!
