1. Can't go wrong with Buna, we'll even give you directions to go see the Polka Dot house.  After that stop, run by our BISD Administration office and view the monument celebrating our rich basketball history (11 state titles in boys and girls).  Maybe even a quick meal at Faustos or Cailliers Cajun Snack Shack (if he has gumbo, order it, don't even hesitate).  Aggies Are We might even be able to get you in on a good poker tournament.
2. C'mon, that's an easy one.  Hemphill at Buna.  Lots of ground game, maybe 800 + yards of rushing (and a few passes by Buna) at Cougar Stadium Friday night.  Plus some really good food at the concessions on the visitors side (Athletic Boosters).
3. My favorite thing to do on a Friday night is see my COUGARS win.  My second favorite thing to do on a Friday night is see a great football player and an even better football game and it sounds like I will be able to do that in Buna Friday night.  I am looking forward to seeing Mr. Twine showcase his skills and see how the Coogs handle the most explosive offensive weapon they have seen in this young season.  This might prove a really good tuneup, win or lose, prior to playing Newton.  Can't wait till Friday night.
4. They have to wait on the buses to return from after school drop offs.
5. Personally, not in favor of the earlier start times.  Our road games are all an hour or more by bus, so the band shows up late, the cheerleaders who also play volleyball on Friday evenings show up late.  I would prefer to keep the 7:30 start times myself.
6.
Toughest from a parity standpoint but I don't think any team but Newton scares any of the top 2A teams in the state. (for 2011)
Well said...
7. Currently District 8-2A D1 has 2 teams in Top 10 (#5 Daingerfield and #8 New Boston, both at 2-1), while District 7-2A D1 has 2 teams in the Top 10 as well (#9 Melissa and #10 Mineola, both at 3-0).  Take what you want out of that.  Daingerfield is the defending 2A-D1 champion.  They beat Cameron Yoe (District 12-2A D1, they are currently 0-3).
8. Here is how Dave Campbells' 2010 issue ranks the state 2A districts: [Hidden Content] So yes, this is one of the toughest 2A districts in the state, next year may be a different story after realignment.  5 teams battled it our for playoff spots last year and the same should happen again this season.
9. OF has a tough, gritty bunch of boys on defense, but....well....enough said....Good luck to both squads.
10. Should be a great matchup, with both running attacks proving to be quite impressive so far.  Bunas' O and D lines wore down Hemphill last year, but the Twine boy will surely make a difference this season as he is off to a great start and will be the best rusher Buna has faced this season.  Good luck to both squads and see you in Buna Friday night.  GO COUGARS!!!
11. Anybody on here from Woodville, give us a hint at what is going wrong up there.  This can't be the same team I saw in Woodville at the end of last year.  They were explosive and could score on one play from anywhere on the field.  Give us some insight.  Good win for the Bobcats though.
12.

Buna played a strong, physical game again tonight.  Mixing in some smashmouth power running with Williams and the speedy, cutting style of Birch.  Clark to Frasier is becoming a great combo as well.  Outstanding performance tonight on both sides of the ball Coogs.  Keep it going next week with Hemphill.
Is Buna going to be the team to beat with Anahuac's qb down?
I think Newton is going to be once again the real test.  Don't count out Anahuac yet, still preseason.  EC is going to be scrappy as well.  Still etoo early to see what Kountze has.  The top 4 are going to battle it out once again.  Should be fun just like last year.
13. Buna played a strong, physical game again tonight.  Mixing in some smashmouth power running with Williams and the speedy, cutting style of Birch.  Clark to Frasier is becoming a great combo as well.  Outstanding performance tonight on both sides of the ball Coogs.  The defense just kept shutting down the Horns all night long.  HF looks the same as always, great looking athletes, lots of speed, but they are always missing something.  The QB had a great arm, Huff ran and played hard, and Malveaux is huge, but way too many dropped passes for a team running a spread offense.  Keep it going next week Buna with Hemphill.  GO COUGARS!!!
14.
Silsbee is off to a good start but don't let Lumberton's 0-2 record fool you.  They played BH tough until they had a couple break downs in the secondary in the second half.  They aren't the most talented team but they play hard and play to the final buzzer.  I think this one will be a lot closer than most think.
Can't afford those "breakdowns in the secondary" this week.  Tigers will take advantage of those quickly.  Good luck to both squads.
15.
Orangefield - 52 Woodville - 6
WOW, got a bit more respect for Woodville than that.  52...52...?...?...6...6...?
16.
Does anyone know Anahuac number's ?
Last thing I had heard was Anahuacs' numbers were up as well.  Not sure of exact count though.
17. If those numbers hold true, then Kirbyville will be headed back to 2A while Buna bumps back up to 3A. I have heard that Orangefields' enrollment is down also.  Could be alot of changing this next year.
18. So far OF is 1-1 against 10-2A teams (East Chambers, Buna).  If the Woodville team that we saw at the end of last season shows up, Eagles will fly.  If the tough, gritty OF defense from the second half Friday night shows up, it could be anybodys game, a low scoring, hard fought contest.  Good luck to both squads.
19.
How many times has Evadale beat Dewyville? How many times has Evadale beat Buna?
Not sure how many times Evadale and Buna have met in football or even baseball for that matter.  Probably not too many due to Buna being 3A for such a long time.
20.
Kirbyville will probably be around 315/325...From what a Coach told me... * hear say only....Not my words..
Surely Kirbyville is in the low 400's not low 300's.  That would mean they have lost 100+ kids (432 enrollment last year) in the last year and a half.  Buna is in the mid 400's thanks to a large Freshmen class (398 last year).  Could mean a bump back to 3A for the Coogs.
21. Not sure that HJ can keep up with the speed of AP.  HJ does seem to be an improved team so far, but we all felt that way about HF as well.  HF scored on the opening kickoff against AP and only had 100 yards of offense for the next 47 minutes and 46 seconds against the Panther D.  But you never know, thats why we play 'em every Friday night.  Good luck to both squads.
22.
Catz gonna hit dem boys from vidor like dey ain't Ben hit before and vidor gonna lay down. Katz by 24 ! vidor beet  some week teams and dey gonna be brought down to reality on dey own feild
Well said, you must be from Louisiana.  LOL.  Should be a good game if Kirbyville continues improving weekly.  I think Vidors numbers will keep them fresh against the Cats.
23.
H.F.-63 Buna -12
It's official, LOBOS was drunk (or at least sleepy) while making this pick.
24. Whole lot of smack talkin' (on both sdes) for 2 weeks of action.  I would strongly advise all Buna players on here to keep it quiet, let your actions speak on the playing field, not on here where everyone is a superstar.  Go COUGARS!!!
25. H-F always has some big, athletic looking players but always seem to be missing something.  Maybe their new coach has them heading in the right direction.  There is no shame for H-F losing to Anahuac, year in and year out a solid football team.  Buna looked quite impressive in the first half Friday, but OF seemed to shut them down a bit in the second half.  My opinion, too many runs to the outside for the Coogs, not enough smashmouth football up the middle.  QB looked good, but needs better protection from the line to have time to find his receivers.  As they mature the next few games before district, this could be the best Buna team we have seen in a several years.  Gotta go with my Cougars in this one.  Good luck to all.  GO BUNA!!!
