1.
Stats from last night's scrimmage: Hamshire-Fannett  1st team offense 25 plays rushing     13/ 45yards passing   4-12  52 yards total         25/ 97 yards 1st Downs    5 TO              1 (fumble) TD's             0 HF 2nd team off.      10 plays rushing    7/ 52 yards passing  2-3  18 yards total     10/ 70 yards 1st downs    4 TO              0 TD's             0 Deweyville 1st team offense 25 plays rushing  19/ 48 yards passing  1-6  6 yards total       25/ 54 yards 1st downs     4 TO               1 (interception) TD's             0 Dewey 2nd team off. 10 plays rushing     9/  10 yards passing    0-1   0 yards total        10/ 10 yards 1st downs    1 TO              0 TD's            0 Combined totals HF    35 plays rushing   20/ 97 yards passing  6-15  70 yards total      35/ 167 yards 1st Downs      9 TO                1 TD's              0 Deweyville      35 plays rushing      28/ 58 yards passing     1-7   6 yards total         35/ 64 yards 1st Downs       5 TO                  1 TD's                0 Numbers:   Hamshire-Fannett suited out 33 on varsity, Deweyville suited out 20 The most impressive thing I saw last night was whenever the Deweyville defense had their backs against the wall, they got tougher and played very good defense. HF moved the ball well early on, with the 1st team off. getting inside the 15 once but could not score. Same with the 2nd team as they had a 1st and goal from the 9 but failed to score on 4 plays. I really thought that HF would be able to at least score 1 or 2 TD's against the much smaller Deweyville team, but credit to the Pirates for playing well when they had to. Deweyville was very, very, very vanilla on offense and never really was able to break anything open against the Longhorn defense. HF was just had too much speed and athleticism on defense and was able to contain and cover. Deweyville had an opportunity in that last series where they were able to reach the HF 25 yard line (after getting a personal foul penalty against HF, a few late hits tonight, lot's of mouthing going on for a first scrimmage), but the Pirates managed 0 yards after. I think overall, Deweyville can come away feeling pretty good about their defense getting the shutout, giving up some yards but keeping the Longhorns out of the endzone, which is the goal of every defense. As for HF, I have to say that with what I saw on offense and the athletes they had at the skill positions, I was disappointed that they could not score on a smaller and slower Pirate defense. They will have to get better because the Horns will see much, much better defenses during the season. The HF defense looked okay, but Deweyville's offense really didn't offer much to gauge against. Both teams have a lot to work on, which is to expect after just one scrimmage. Side note:  I was really taken aback to how many coaches HF had last night. 17!!!! Deweyville had only 5!!  ;D
Thanks for posting the stats, and you are spot on with the recap.
 2.
Dewyville def. looked good need some work at corner.   off. we need a lot of work on the O - line    JMO [/quote Couldn't have said it better, totally agree.
 3. Dville 1st team offense 2 first downs no score. End of scrimmage with neither team scoring. Good work for both teams.
 4. Second go around with 1st team def for dville limited Hf 1st team offense to 1 first down. Alot better for the Pirates.
 5. 2nd team offense for Hf moved ball well against 2nd defense Dville but could not score.
 6. Hf first 15 plays nets 5 first downs with no scores. They moved ball well.
 7. First 15 plays for Dville nets little, 2 first downs with little movement, Hf defense playing tough.

 9. Hey Bluedove, if you gonna make the game let me know so I can save you a seat on the Pirate side, cause I know you like a winner.  ;D
 10.
No injuries.
That's what I am hoping for also.
 11. Deweyville Pirates 1.  Corrigan Camden 2.  San Augustine 3.  New Waverly 4.  Groveton 5.  Warren 6.  Hemphill 7.  Evadale 8.  High Island 9.  Hull Daisetta 10. Sabine Pass No disrespect meant to any Team, just my opinion.
 12. They will contend for the District Championship this year, loaded team with alot of speed.  Good luck.
 13.
Johnathan Gray. nuff said  ;)
Totally agree, after watching him in person at the State Championship Game, this young man is a monster running the ball.
 14.
Good Luck to the Pirates from Panther Country!
Thanks, and good luck to the Panthers, although I don't think ya'll will need it this year, ya'll are loaded.
 15. Looking forward to some good football, top to bottom, this District should be very competitive.  San Augustine is going to be a major player in the District this year as well as the usual's, Corrigan Camden, Groveton and New Waverly. Deweyville has their best opportunity to make some noise in District with a very hard working and talented Senior/Junior class.
EC will be just fine as always..That program has continued to win through the last three coaching changes...no reason to believe that tradition doesn't continue...IMO..
I agree Warrior, year in and year out EC is always competitive and strong.
 17.
1) Newton (strong comeback this season) 2) Anahuac (coaching and athletes) 3) EC (program is stronger than any one coach) IMO...
Looks good to me.

 19.
Florida state since the Ags have no Stilson. Texas in 3. The Horns showed a lot fighting through the losers bracket. And DBU. Everybody loves a good Cinderella story.
I agree.
 20.
well I guess my son won't be playing next year because I think Landry is a smart butt.  Anyone who calls the kids "f(*&ing punks" and doesn't care that he says it in front of a parent deserves and gets no respect from me!
Unbelievable.  ::)
 21.
Not to mention that Jacob had to rebound from one of the worst beanings I have ever seen.  This happened in the bottom of the 2nd in the middle of the 8 runs the Coogs were putting up, luckily we kept batting, giving him time to recover and catch his wits.    The ball hit him so hard, paint literally came off his helmet.  It was scary, too scary.  Great job Jacob, truly a great competitor.
Heart of a Champion.
 22.
What happened to CC? Buna won 11 to 1.
And those 2 pitchers better than any in Buna's District.  ;) ::) Congrats Cougars, good luck tomorrow.
