Pirates identified alot of areas that need work on tonight, they will work hard and correct the problems/mistakes. Alot of young players seen time tonight, that will benefit them down the road.

The final score was 1-0 H-D. You only count the live 2 quarters of game style. The 12 warm up plays both teams got does not count. Bottom line is H-D is a 1A team and has now beat two 2A teams, not suppose to happen. Deweyville has a tough and solid team, the middle of their defense is real good. Their running back is a good player. You count live qtrs, I count total scores since both was against 1st teams.

Final was 2 - 1 HD HD has a very scrappy team that has a very good RB #32 I believe, they will be good this year. Deweyville needs to work on 3 things: 1st discipline, 2nd blocking and 3rd tackling. Unless these areas are addressed this will be a very long and difficult year for the Pirates. Need some leaders to stepup for the Pirates and right the ship before district starts.

We all still mourn Destin, and he will be missed alot this year, Clint if you and Monica need anything don't hesitate to ask. We love ya'll.

I agree. Just basing solely on what I saw at Kirbyville's and Diboll's scrimmages Saturday, I believe Kirbyville will have the better team. A lot of things can happen before then, teams can better or get worse. But right now I would have to give Kirbyville the edge. Good assessment Aggies, Kirbyville looked good in their scrimmage Saturday.

After seeing this scrimmage, which benefited all 3-teams, my observations are this: Kirbyville is very good on both sides of the ball, very fast, well coached. kirbyville will go far this year. note: the nose guard for kirbyville #46 ran wild all afternoon several qb pressures and tackles for loses. silsbee will be as good as jeremy johnson is, they will make the playoff's and do well as long as johnson stays healthy. fast defense that hustles and runs to the ball very well #15 is a manchild on defense for the tigers. Deweyville suprised me with their enthusiasm and hustle, I like the new offense it plays well to their strengths which is ball control and having a 265 lb fullback helps tremendously in that area. the defense needs work in the secondary which was missing 1 starter however it benefited the Pirates to see the team speeds of kirbyville and silsbee.

I agree, EC will be very competitive this year, I don't think anyone will over look the Bucs.

Geez...You forgot Hardin also has the best linemen (offense and defense, of course), the best linebackers, DBs, etc. And the coach is the best that's ever been. That's why the tradition at Hardin is so tremendous. Racking up all those district championships year in and year out. And I forgot...new carpet to go with all those cheap new metal buildings called a school. Like putting lipstick on a pig. ;D

Thanks etbu gonna be exciting this year, unfortunately the old injury bug has bitten early this year, some younger players will have to step up and fill in the gaps. The Pirates will put 11 on the field that will play hard for 4 qtrs, no quit in this bunch.

Barring any injuries you'll get to see first hand when Hardin and Anahuac play this year who the best is.

That would be Cameron Mitchell, who received all-state honorable mention last season as soph! Absolute beast, he will only get better with age.

Mitch is good, but Albritton from Anahuac is the best athlete in this District.

I watched the Gilmer game and I agree, the Mustangs could not cover the Gilmer receivers. There aren't many teams in this area that defend the pass well. 2 reasons: 1. They don't see it enough throughout the year. SETX widely considers it sissy ball and won't open it up. Only hurts the locals in the playoffs. 2. Guys going both ways at DB and WR... I don't care how great their conditioning is, they can't cover all night, especially when the QB has time to throw. Any decent QB will beat you in that situation. Good observation.
