  1. Your right almost doesn't count.. that almost hurts though it was more of a should have than an almost. One slip cost us......without that slip we would have been two scores ahead with not enough time...
  2. So what happens if it is a washout since this was supposed to be a series??
  3. I for one do not envy umpires in any way. And yes I am one at times hollering in the stands. But I have been been on the other side once as well and once was enough for me. I was conned into calling third base years ago in a little league game. This was the only time I ever called a game and was to use to just watching the game. Runners on first and second. A ball hit in the air that fell I believe. It was thrown to third where the third baseman while kneeling on the bag caught it and attempted to tag the runner. He missed the tag and I called him safe. The fans went nuts. And after a moment I realized it was a force out and I had to correct the call. That was enough for me.
  4. So she denied it when it was brought up 2 years ago but now she says it happened. Was she involved with this second incident?
  5. Why was alleged affair brought up again if it had already been handled in 2015, and the asst. Supe. Knew that fact?
  6. Both not one sided at all. In one game the plate was extended out 6-8 inches at least at times on the first base side and you couldn't get a call on the edge on the other side. Like I said earlier in my opinion that video looks like a strike but doesn't prove anything to me.
  7. All these remarks saying this umpire shouldn't call any more, are they based on one missed call?? As far as the ending, the umpire did not change the outcome he MAY have missed a call that could have ended the game but how many times are calls missed. I sat directly behind the plate during our series with BC one game on the front row and I can't tell you how many calls I thought were missed. The outcome of this game was changed by that next pitch.
  8. I didn't see a high school 100 in the results or schedule.
  9. Have wondered what might have been or be going on but not wanting to create the wrong attention.
  10. If players did lay hands on the umpire, they should be punished. Now the question is were there underclassmen or seniors where nothing could really be done.
  11. Watching these few pitches it's hard for me to say whether how that pitch should have been called that night, don't know how consistent or inconsistent the umpire had been or how he called similar pitches all night. Yes I agree that from that angle it looked like a strike. And as far as the reaction of players, that's not uncommon. And although, I disagreed I heard over and over how a referee or in this case an umpire can't effect an outcome......now as far as the actions after the game, if hands were placed on the umpire...to me that's a big no no. Not seeing any of it for myself it's hard to say much on the other parts. i hope it wasn't something minor and a sore loser reaction.
  12. Wow hadn't seen that they had already hot 2 outs that is sketchy!
  13. I have been thinking about what to say on this thread. I for one dont have a problem with a LITTLE fun "trash talk", even though I don't do a whole lot of it. I still do some. But at times it definitely goes overboard. I don't get too involved usually because ''tis is high school sports and just like we saw I the series that pushed us here, anything can happen. I personally do not like the present solution at all. I enjoy the discussions on the games after they are played. I understand why it's being done but it takes a lot out of the experience for me.
  14. The Tigers definitely have to toe the line and not let themselves be provoked but I was very prod of the way they finished this season doing just that. As far as these situations not happening with non local teams, there are many factors. One being you usually don't face them in football, so there isn't and residual tension there. Another being we don't usually face them 2 or more times a year like we do our district mates, so they don't have any residual feelings from a prior game or maybe even a prior year. And the last one I will mention is the fact that even though some of the kids know each other from summer circuits they don't have the relationships that some of these kids have with other kids locally so some have histories off court that may find their way on court. the bottom line for the Tigers is none of this really matters now, what matters is that's we keep going like we finished last year.
  15. Quite honestly I doubt any Silsbee players are really that upset about losing to BC. They are upset about not reaching their goal.
  16. So woefully performed?? Take baseball and football. A one point difference in the football game where the only difference amounted to BC having a consistent kicker and we didn't. Yes all that matters there is a win and an even 2-2 record on the baseball field where if I am not mistaken BC was ranked as well this year at least at one point with a combined score of something like 22-15. I wouldn't say that was woeful in anyway. Yes BC won when it counted but that's baseball. Errors and no runs scored at the wrong time and you lose.
  17. By the way why don't you ask those BC basketball players if they matter or not?
  18. Hmm... only schools that care. Easy for a BC person to say that. By the way the only numbers that matter this school year are 3-0. Yeah that's the number of state championships in Silsbee compared to Bc this year.
  19. I am wandering what the fan was arguing with the first base umpire about after the game.
