Ok that explains it!
-
That's what I thought just seemed like some were called inside the tackles.
-
What is the definition of a chop block now? I know when I played 30 years ago we were allowed to cut block within the line.
-
Glad to read that the players handled themselves well! Hats off to both teams on that!
-
Tensions were hot? No incidents on the field or off were there?
-
And I will say I didn't see the turf just give way near as many times as last week.

Great win for my Tigers tonight. Maybe not great on the overall play, but great win. Like has been said way too many penalties. I think there was at least two TDs called back. But after falling behind 19-0 in the first quarter and virtually no run defense at all in that quarter, a big come from behind win by throwing a shutout the rest of the game was just what the Dr. Ordered. The offens really got the run game going and ate up yards in that second half. I felt like there towards the end both teams tried to cost themselves the game. The Tigers trying to sneak in a pass play when eating up yards on the ground leading to another pass play on third and long, stopping the clock and giving the Bulldogs a chance. Then on the ensuing drive the Bulldogs were getting good runs by the big back and had what looked like a 4th and 1 and tried to pass themselves and it didn't work. The Tigers didn't have a large number of passes tonight but also cut down on those drops from last week. O and not only did we step up against the run after that first quarter but we stepped up against the big receiver as well. Good job Tigers we are proud of you. Great confidence builder!!

Yes but I thought personal fouls were usually assessed on the kickoff.
-
Shouldn't the horse collar penalty from TD have been assessed on this kick off?

I just read a post saying something about where this happened, at home or at school. I did wonder how if it happened away from school, that he could be suspended from school. What is the precedent/ rule there. Now like I have said in previous posts he represents the school as a football player which is a privilege to play so that is definitely an area of punishment.
-
I will tell you what,. Given the player is in question wants to make it right. The perfect place to do it would be Friday night before the game. He can stand out on the field make a public apology over the loudspeaker and then go to the WOS sideline and apologize to the WOS player in particular, as well as his teammates and coaches. Yes I realize the embarrassment and difficulty in doing so but that is just what he may need.

I would hate to see a Sr. Lose his last year of football, however at his age he very well knows the risk of putting anything of this nature out there. Unfortunately sometimes one mistake costs you dearly and in my opinion this is one of those cases. As a player you are not only representing yourself, school and teammates but your city as well. These type of things have to stop and a stand made. I would respect and decision the school and Coach makes as long as it isn't, and I am sure it won't be, a slap on the wrist. As far as playing the game, I would hate to see both teams, fans and bands etc etc punished for the actions of one or two. The concern to me isn't on the field that can be controlled by coaches and officials. The big concern is the ones attending the game. It only takes one or two looking to carry this where it doesn't really belong to cause lots of trouble.

I agree but it may be worse for him or them to actually play in this one.......

Good response. All those knocks on Silsbee's discipline and personal fouls....now hit home even deeper.
-
That prediction depends a lot on who we end up playing in that Carthage district. Not sure how good those teams are but a matchup with one of those top two teams is always very tough. Get past that one and that next round may not be so tough. Getting to that third round would be playing on Nov. 25th. The Central game is that following Tuesday so even if football season ends the 25th those football players would only have one day of practice. So still pretty much Silsbee Lite.
-
Definitely. My point was just that the offense has more to come. Defensively the secondary has to improve and we need to keep up the better play against the run and limit the big plays.
-
Add Central in Beaumont on November 29th too late for me to edit and HJ is in Silsbee.Sorry for the mistake. i had tired legs and no mental toughness!!!
-
Yes my mistake just missed the central game and messed up the HJ one it is in Silsbee.
