Silsbee hires Cypress Ranch OC Randy Smith
ST413 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
I have heard from a pretty good source he was there and in attendance in SA this weekend. Now I was in SA but never noticed him but was told he was right there by the superintendent. I am very interested in seeing how this new era begins. -
Congratulations to all. And I will say I personally don't have any problem with these selections.

A few I have seen returning home.

Just 3 out of that rotation. Plus still have 1 that was part of that for a good part of the year (while Michael was out). And a freshman that played a good part in that Central win. And if a couple of these do come back home. I can't say better because you never know what might happen and the fact that this team played together so well and had the success they did but you can see why the anticipation is still there.

HJ has Parquet and Bernard returning. The rest were seniors!

Most of them played football and were a big part of the football turnaround from last year. -
I have heard for years about Joubert being a football guy. I wouldn't be suprised either way.

I can't say I have heard anything about a ref being a Lincoln dad I did hear one was a Huntington players dad. I can't say I saw anything to have a big problem about. I saw a couple charges I didn't agree with and a block call that I thought was more of a charge than many that were called. I did see a couple times I thought a double dribble or walk should have been called. If there was some tie to a Lincoln player which would surprise me then a lot of investigating should be done. as far as the talk of our style of play, sure it sets you up to be beat by a certain type of team. Any style of play sets itself up to be beaten by someone really good at an opposite for lack of a better word style. But we sure must be one of if not the best at playing our style. And of course teams good at different styles have advantages that's why you have to dictate yours. As far as our half court offense, this year the 3 ball was an awful big part of it. I saw games where we made 18 and 14. Many with 7 or 8. In the playoffs that didn't happen . Maybe better defenses, maybe shooting in the big arenas the last four games, whatever the reason they didn't fall. It's no secret that's not our strongest point. I know it has been worked on, but our guys like to go. So do what you do best and we did all the way to a 3 pt loss in the state tournament. You can say what you want about Lincoln's second half. Fact is the Tigers took advantage played like we played, made Lincoln lose its composure for a while and came within 3 pts of winning a state title. How many other teams in the state did that? Hats off Tigers,. Keep doing what you do and get even better!!

Don't know if I would pick those 2 or not would have to go back and look at stats but Devon and Kaylon both would have led my choices at least after the first game.

Not even 7000.

And the congregation says "Amen"!!!

I had one Lincoln fan come shake my hand and tell me how good our team is,. Class act!
-
I have seen a list that had 5 or six from some of the kids but I didn't know who they all r may be including some in our jr high.

Yes that's the point differentials and can't argue the point really with it but he went down at the beginning of us getting on a roll so hard to argue what might or might not have been. But w e definitely could have used his ability to take over like his brother did. Maybe with both he and Bruce in.
-
Mike may be the choice just based on being named last year and being known. Really kind of hard to put him there just because he missed so much. To me the one that deserves it if you can pick one is Grubbs. Just all around everything.
-
I believe he picked Lincoln to win it a long time ago!
-
Yes it is. Look at your perception. We had just gone down 17. Sure I think it was still 13 I think at the time. But you could see the Tigers picking it up and feel the momentum going our way. Then tragedy. But the players out it together and kept going. I won't say we would have won with him because Bruce did a heck of a job taking over but we definitely would have benefitted fromDevons play and size and ability to get to the rim and finish.

Exactly what we saw last night. We were only at the hospital maybe 20 minutes. Must have been 50 Tiger fans there and she wanted to accommodate any that wanted to see him. We didn't go back so to not take time from the important ones but it was great to see such support for the young man. We were told what the dr said and it was a great diagnosis after the way it looked. Thanks to everyone online and in the dome.

The Tigers will be fine. Going to miss these seniors. Going to be tough to lose their quiet leader in Grubbs, nothing but pure hustle and determination in all parts of the game. And another team leader in Dontre playing hard and taking care of business. And Mr. 3 ball this year in Ricky, he worked hard on his game and it showed. Then Luke another that as pure hustle and determination. I wish it could have ended like in their dreams but couldn't be prouder. As far as next year, we will be probably just as deep and dangerous. Just keep working and improving and we should be back.

I am going to say this to all of these anti Tiger comments, especially ones like " it wasn't a comeback..." If you have seen this Silsbee team at all you would realize that was Tiger ball right there. Sure there are areas we could improve but we still play out game and we were right there at the end. A few more fts or a couple of those easy misses back and it's a different outcome. But the biggest thing on this night isn't about a win or loss it's about a young man who has given his all this entire year for his team and hometown. To be disrespecting his team and their effort right now is out of line. If you want to give a good analysis and say we couldn't stop 5 and he was the difference then find but right now more than anything this games outcome means very little, sure I wanted a Tiger win but a Devon win is the most important!!

At the hospital he is going to be ok minimal injury. That's all I will post someone else can post when given the ok.
-
We Could have used some of that in that first half but you see what happened when we did get to play.
-
Hats off Tigers I know this wasn't the way you wanted your season to end. But no reason to hang your heads. To fight back like you did under adversity just shows the heart and talent you have. To the four seniors it's been a pleasure to watch you. To all of you it's been probably the most fun I have had watching a Tiger team. Yo youngsters will get another chance hang in there and work hard. And to Devon, I send you my prayers for both a full and speedy recovery. We love you guys!

Maybe not charge calls And I won't say bad calls but the fouls we got early were the made the difference along with a run of 3 balls by Lincoln. They made most of the fts and we weren't able to get our defense going with several keep players getting 2 fouls early.
