May mot have been a kid from what I have heard, did not actually see this, but one of them was supposed to be a parent or someone of that age. One thin I hope players learn from this, once you are leaving a game don't get in these verbal wars,. You never know what those you are talking too are capable of or could be carrying. -

Like was said to me,and especially with the long walk, Jasper should have made sure that all the kids were cleared from the parking lot. -

i should have added that the team remained in the gym a decent amount of time to let the parking lot clear but I guess someone is going to have to start checking before letting the team exit the gym. -

If you are talking about said people from Silsbee, most had left as far as parents and even fans are concerned. The head trainer at least usually doesn't attend out of town games. I was in attendance and was getting in my car with my wife and 2 year old daughter. I heard the commotion and eased over to see what was going on. First off you need to be a little familiar about the situation in Jasper right now. The entrance to the gym was between a building and a set of picnic tables so I would say you had to walk about 40 yards or so to get to the parking lot. So plenty of time for things to escalate. The coaches were walking with the team but remember you had probably 35 or so players & student staff thy were escorting out and there is only 3 coaches and maybe 1 or 2 other adults. There was a large group when I noticed. I went over and helped lead our players and students to the bus. Michaels eye looked bad that night. Didn't say anything about his hand to me. I did notice one Jasper person get detained. It was definitely a little alarming to be in the midst of things with people coming out there with their hands in their pockets. But it was a fairly brief incident that had no business happening. -

I don't know if those two freshmen are going to jump to varsity right off or not. But if and I say if 2 of those 3 were to move in they would be on varsity if for no other reasons than being seniors(if I remember right they are both srs). That 8 th grader from Legacy might be a straight to varsity player not sure. Would be nice to go from this year to having just as many or more next year but I will believe all of it when I see it. -

4 Silsbee players graduate this year including 3 of those in the top two rotations. -
I will not say anything towards the player because I know nothing of it. But as a dad of a little girl, if this were to happen to her,. Let's just say he better hope he gets locked up!

Probably Bridgeport,. Couldn't even put this one on sour lake!

In regards to that, I will never say it's certain until it happens. I was told directly from the family earlier in the year that he was coming back as well so as you and I both see things can change either way. -

And your statement on other big men is exactly correct. Others don't have those two, and I am not sure they had anyone comparable to either one like I said I don't know what plans the coaches had there or if they just wanted to play good defense all around,. But I definitely could see them trying to limit the outside duo since our height was going to make it harder to do so on the inside one. Like has been done many times take one or two of those top choices out and make the other beat you. -

That last statement is easy, we didn't get open lay ups. As I stated Roberts did real good down low. You may not want to believe it but I was told by more than one in the locker room that was exactly what we wanted to do in at least a large portion of the second half. And if I remember correctly it was stated earlier in this thread we shot 18 3s in the first half but only 7 in the second,. I would say that's significantly less. AAW stated that just shortly after his stats. And yes that strategy was counterproductive as far as point spread but it did finish off the win. -

As for Roberts, we definitely didn't have the answer for him last night. I will be interested to see what approach and if there is any difference in the next game. I know we have done better jobs on some big men in the past. I wonder if we were more geared to limit Saladin and Parquet in this game. Kind of a pick your poison type thing. Try to limit the three balls and keep those two from rolling and take your chance with him. If so he took full advantage and had a great game. Not sure trying to focus on him would be the best move because of those other 2. That's a job for the coaches before that next game. Either way he impressed me way more last night that when I saw him last year. -

Of course reducing possessions for the other team limits your possessions but with a 20 pt lead and less than a half lead, you would be basing that strategy on being able to score on an ample number of your possessions to not allow that opposing team to have enough chances to catch up. It worked we still won by 10. I can admit it frustrates me when we do this because our leads do tend to dwindle against good teams however I am not the coach and his strategy still worked. That strategy and good defense in the second half definitely limited the Tigers output and dropped our shooting numbers. I am like AAW, overall I don't think we shot bad at all,. I do think we shoot better though in transition like in the first half. For both reasons of just getting in a rhythm and the defense having more trouble getting to the shooters. -

I don't disagree with that. I can admit to being happy with the win but I can also admit that I would love for once when we get that 20 pt lead and put the game away!! -

This we can agree on. I have been real impressed by him and Adams as freshmen both with their play and attitudes. Yes they may have reaction to a call or something but haven't seen anything major from either one. Excited to watch how their high school careers pan out. -

I am not going to get into the HJ part of this. I do agree with your statements on the Tigers. Height is a worry inside. I know we have been working on ways to deal with it. As far as a go to guy,. I would have to say I agree with the other statements I would put the ball in Devon's hands or Grubbs. The good part is they can handle the ball but if we need a shot they have several that they can dish it too and they are both two of the better finishers going to the basket. -

Hmm lets see I have said our defense had some effect on HJs shooting by maybe speeding up the shots. I also said in the second half HJ did a good job staying with our shooters basically doing the same thing. I have no idea where you came up with the statement that our shooting in the second quarter was just because we are better. And stating that we slowed our offense down was not only visible but a statement from within the team. Was it the reason we "didn't win by 20" not really but it could be a reason we didn't win by more than 20. HJs defense in the half court had a lot to do with us not scoring as much in that half. It sounds like you have a problem with the Tigers. First you think that losing a three year starter and if I remember right an all stater last year doesn't have an effect and now all of this. It must be awful to be o. Your side of things.
