Honestly winning district doesn't matter when you play the same dang team EVERY YEAR in the playoffs it seems. 3rd place you play Huffman. 1st place you play Huffman.
When you are the big school in the district that is what happens. Huffman was threw biggest school in their district before the realignment I believe. Numbers this time give Splendora that distinction but they just can't seem to make the playoffs. -

The Tigers will be d1 no matter what and will play huffman unless Splendora makes the playoffs which isn't going to happen. -

As far as my 'theory' about kicking s away from our return men, I wa mainly talking about the kick offs. And like I said they may do that routinely. You just stated that, so that must be threw case. As far as the punts, definitely several were just poor kicks just from watching them. The ones that were returnable were returned for big yardage as has been the case most of the time this year for the Tigers. These two have been doing a great job and I am sure coaches are trying to find ways to keep them from getting that chance. -

Great game Tigers. Keep up the good play. We need to work on kickoff coverage for the nect two weeks though. I dont know if they do it every week but BC would not kick the ball deep, keeping the ball out of our return mens hands. But they couldnt keep from punting it to our return men. With Chris and Jordan back there you almost expect a big return every time. I wonder what is going through the opposing coached heads when they have to punt? -
Glad thats all it was, it looked more like a knee issue the way he went down. I know things would have changed later in the game, but Buna kept the Silsbee offense at bay with the starter in. I was really impressed with the backup. After he came in, the Tigers scored on 3 straight posessions. Give the starter all the rest he needs, let him get ready for the WO-S game and the playoffs.
THe way he went down it did look like a knee, but if you saw him come off the field from the last posssesion he already had the problem. At the end of that play it appeared that he let go of the ball after he was down and a Buna player saw it and pounced on him and the ball. He walked off real gingerly after that play. -
You may have top give WOS the edge in the battle of the defenses but you would also have to give the edge in the offensive battle to the Tigers. It would be a big suprise for the Tigers to be shut out, too many speedy weapons on that side of the ball just have to give Reed some time.

Did Buna score in the last 30 seconds? It was 44-2 when I left. -

On the possession before he left the game Pat was down, it looked like he let go of the ball and a defender jumped on him and the ball. Pat came to the sideline very gingerly. On his next play, he was running with the ball and just stopped and went to the ground. It is a hip problem. He has been walking very gingerly on the sideline. -

I agree with Badsanta...Wilson from Silsbee has to be listed here. Very quick, has control of the offense, good passer, handles pressure, and a defensive terror.
Is he the kid who is about 5'7" and super quick?
I know the answer to this is yes, but in reality there are a number of Tiger players that fit that description.
If they were to recruit, is there enough of a talent pool in the Golden Triangle to compete with the likes of Yates? I no longer live in the GT and just follow the scores and posts on this site.
That answer would be no! And if it happened here it would get caught. It is much easier to find talent and hide recruitment in a city the size of Houston, dense population in a relatively small area, than it its in an area such as the golden triangle with less population and more area.
-
I have to agree with Dove, top be considered on the national level like Yates you have to recruit like Yates!
-
So yeah Dove it was the same as St. Annes. 8)

Good correction Kelly was warming up as I typed that, it was Vidor that WOS beat. Sorry.
-
I agree completely, just said it made for an interesting evening. There were a few bad calls but nothing bad. Only thing I thought they might have done a little different was stop the clock a couple times when this delayed the inbounds or something like that.
-
In this second game, Nederland's ball movement was too much for a tired Tiger team. The Tiger's appeared to have expended most of their energy in hard fought game with Memorial. It was an interesting evening as far as officiating as they were training new refs. In some of the games they would sub in new sets of refs every few minutes and they would recieve lessons even during play.
-
Nederland takes this one 44-33.
-
yes Brooks, Hardeway, Willis, one guard I remember from jv or freshman and one more.
-
Along with Haynes and Jenkins, playing Nederland varsity right now in the second of back to back games.
-
Back in Nederland for some more fall ball. WOS beat Kelly 41-14 and Silsbee just beat Memorial 35-34.
Silsbee 2nd team offense and defense didn't look to good tonight. Defense gave up the only score on 67 yard run, offense had -30 yards of offense on their two possessions. Other than 3 unsportsmanlike penalties and the 2nd teamers, Tigers looked good tonight.
That they did. Could never figure out exactly what those penalties were for. Must have been running the mouth. And someone let channel 6 know its Patrick Reed not Patrick Blake. -
I admit I was a bit surprised with the results the Tigers had at North Shore without the services of Holmes, Elam, Jackson, Reed, Scott, Barnes and a couple of others. You looking at a minimum of 3 starters and first two off the bench not participating.
One more thing to make this a little more suprising is that Jake Dobbins didn't make this trip. Leaving the Tigers without one more starter from last year. They only had Wilson from the playoff team last year, and Thomas who played part of the year as far as varsity players. -
They will get it fixed but it is definitely frustrating.
-
Definitely an improvement over the past years. Good to see it. More back on the thread topic, I know there has been a lot of talk about the Tiger's speed on the court but I never realized how fast Chris was until his kickoff return this past friday! Great job.
