1. Yes a good analysis although a couple points I am not in complete agreement with.  First it may not be a major shock that the Tigers won but I don't think the Hawks comeback was a major shock either in fact when the Tigers had their 18 point lead I turned to those around me and said how the game was far from over and expected a comeback.  And yes the free throws would be a big difference maker but I also feel the difference from the three point line was just as big.
2.

Thug was definitely the correct word to use describing the actions of a couple of Silsbee players, as well as some Silsbee fans. #1 -- It was not good enough for them to win, they felt the need to come across the court to celebrate in the faces of fans, and to take their shirts off, put up their fists (lick their thumbs no less), as if they wanted to fight. #2 -- This behavior went on the entire game.  After a made shot, their players would clap in the face of HJ players, or scream in their face, or holler at the fans. More than anything I lost a ton of respect for the Silsbee coaching staff.  I understand that you can only control how a high school athlete reacts to a certain extent, but the easy solution is to yank the kid from the game.  Hopefully after playing against HJ a few more teams, this coach and these players from Silsbee will learn some class.  Act like you've been there before.
I'll let your point #1 slide, although I believe it to be over stated.  Your point #2 is pure BS!  The Silsbee players were no more or no less exhuberiant after a score than were the Hawks.  It is truly a phenomanon how each team's fans see the opposite sides of any given incidence or situation.  Both teams have been there before - many times for both.  Get rid of the tired cliche'.  And, somehow I hope the Silsbee coaching staff can deal with the ton on respect that you lost for them.  Where it counts, here in Silsbee, there was no loss of respect for anybody (including the Hawks team and their Coaches - always a class act).  Why don't you act like you've been in a close game and lost before - it will help with your ulcers.
Very well stated  TV.
3. I was there and talked to people from both teams and none thought the foul was any more than a player trying to make a play.  They felt Sean just fell awkwardly after the contact.
4. Definitely but like I said for now its every team in district, I also said dont let up any time after that second game.
5. There is one thing I have noticed that hasn't been said yet in this conversation.  First, I was proud of all the Tigers for their play last night,  but I want to congratulate a couple for their  performances both Jacob Dobbins and Patrick Read.  The Tigers big men gave up a couple of inches to three of HJs starters and half a foot to a reserve,  and they did a fantastic job down low fighting for rebounds and playing some good defense.  Great job guys!!
6. All of this talk has led me to the conclusion that all you need to know is:  you can forget about the 12-6 or 27-0 they mean nothing now.  The thing that does matter is that the Tigers have the perfect record now, when it matters, and for now they are the ones every team in the district will be gunning for. And I know HJ will be even more focused in a couple weeks. So Tigers keep working and keep focused, don't ease off the pedal between now and then or at any time after.
7.
You know... maybe the reason for the poor shooting from behind the 3 and the high number of turn overs was partially caused by good intense defense!  I mean, no matter the offensive power of either team, both of these schools live and breathe (and thrive) on good in-your-face defense!
Precisely!
8. You just hit a point I have been thinking about.  Much has been made of the poor free their shooting. That was big. But it wasnt much worse than the Tigers from the stripe.if the Tigers had shot as many as the Hawks  at the same percentage, they would have only made four our maybe five more.  Could have been a difference but not by much. However, I have heard all test about how many threes h j has been hitting and last night they only hit 3/18 whole the Tigers hit 7.  As far as shooting stats, I thought that was huge.
9. Very well said indeed. It kind of reminded me of the reaction after Justin Leonard's putt in the Ryder Cup several years ago.
10. No a tougher schedule didnt have anything to do with missed Hawk free throws or probably even that last shot.  But it had everything to do with giving our players the confidence in themselves to play with a much bigger, highly taughted, undefeated Hawk team.  The Tigers could have given up in the first half when they got down but they knew they had what it takes to compete with a team like HJ and in the end they not only proved it to themselves but everyone else in attendance.
11. I believe Kelton Gaines had a layup in the middle of the Tigers third quarter run that was just as exciting a dunk. A breakaway layup where he took the ball off the flour turned and showed it to thr defender and then finished the layup. The reaction around me was big. Oh and there was another shot more exciting than a dunk as well: a 35-40 foot buzzer beater!
12. Maybe I will get to hear it. With work all day tomorrow and playoff games sunday don't know.
Soulja is not going to like that
After dunk number 2 I'm reverting to my linebacker mode and taking him DOWN. 8)
Might need to start stretching. 1 dunk and one called off. I bet he gets some more.
Wrong!!
14. I would like to see and hear that.  I would love to listen to the second half of this game.  With highs and lows from both sides.
15.
With it being such a great rivalry and people flooding the place from both schools , I think it would be awesome if this game was played at the Montagne. Think about, instead of turning people away an hour before the game, u can probably sell out the Montagne. Imagine 10,000 strong watching that game and imagine the money both schools can make.    Besides it's not really home court advantage when it's split down the middle with both fans.  All I'm saying is just show the state how BIG this rivalry really is!
I am sure the crowd would be bigger but I doubt you would sell out the Montagne.  I kinda like the idea but like was said tonight it would take some of the fun out of it.  Wouldn't be near as loud in such a bigger place.
16. Unfortunately Tigersvoice there was some of celebration near and directed towards the Hawk fans,  hopefully it was just emotion and nothing worse.  As far as the game,  it doesn't get any better than that.  In the beginning it looked like the Tigers wouldn't have any answers for the Hawks size.  We fell behind by double digits but got the lead back down to 5 by the half.  The third quarter looked like HJ wasn't going to have any answer for the Tigers speed.  It was fun for us Tiger fans to watch.  All out hustle by the little men.  The Tigers stretched it out to as many as 19 but a big shot by Prudhomme cut it to 15 after 3.  Even with that lead you had to know that the game was very far from being over and like good teams do the Hawks showed why they hadn't been beaten making a great run of their own to the delight of their fans.  The Tiger's made some poor choices along with some great play by the Hawks and the lead was gone.  A great shot by one Zayon jackson at the end giving the Tigers the win.  I know he has had to fight with being called DC's little brother but tonight he made a name for himself and one upped his big brother.  The difference in this game came down to missed free throws and a great run by the Tigers in the third period.  I know there was a comment made about the "Hawks won't beat themselves again."  Yes they could have won the game at the freethrow line but no they didn't beat themselves the Tigers did that by doing the things they had to do to win.  A great game by two good teams.  Neither one giving up at all when they were down.  I can't wait til  game 2.
17. I believe Gaines had a layup in there that was just as exciting as a dunk.
18. Since Nash loved it so much I added a couple more lines.
19.

They failed to mention what the predicted dunk count will be after this game.
In Football this week, we saw the Tide Roll. Hoping tonight to see the Hawks [s]Fly[/s] oops, I mean SOAR!
Yes we saw the lower ranked team win. Hopefully that trend continues.  Go Tigers!
