1. That was my question. Like I said I haven't seen the game yet. I am sure they were the correct call from what has been said. It also sounds like the same calls were going the other way in the first half though. Either way my only complaint there would be consistency. The players needed to adjust and didn't.
 2. What 3A game did people have trouble with the officiating?  I didn't see the games, at least not yet. I did have a question about the Tigers game but didn't want to seem like it was an excuse. We got beat no excuse. In the third we started getting charges when in the first half we were drawing fouls. We have had a habit of getting charges, I just wasn't sure if they changed the way they were making the calls.
 3.
Some feathers are ruffled way to easy. Sure options 1-4 would be nice, but is it realistic?  I bet any team in SE Texas would take only 4 losses. But if that 4th loss is in bi district, it really doesn't matter.
Very true. Only 1 loss is no good either if its your first playoff game..
Yeah, but without his 2nd half effort the game isn't close.  He proved he can play at this level, and if he keeps his head right will be one of the better players in the country next year.
Definately. He was huge in second half.

Tell em they can't beat Cleveland. Tell em how weak their schedule is.  Tell em even though they beat  kountze twice it was a fluke and the refs cheated. Tell them their two victories over kountze still left them ranked behind kountze.  I can think of nothing more beneficial for those kids than what some of you naysayers do(unwittingly) for the hawks
Hey, I was just joking( with Poppa) you need to see some of my other posts on the subject although 4 losses is not unrealistic at all.  I have learned never to underestimate the Hawks and they have some good talent returning and moving up.  Should be another great year for our rivalry.

 11. However I can guarantee neither Coach Williams or Coach Sutherland would continue full speed with a 88 point lead at halftime.

I bet there are many schools who would love to have that problem (winning).
Keep going around the point instead of facing it. Yes they won state two years in a row(great job) but the coach had many chances to help his team become better all around players  and didn't take advantage of them.
question. How do you know Yates doesn't. Know how to run a half court offense? Do you think they get all their points off steals from their press? The kis know how to run a half court offense.
How do I know I saw them in there first round blowout of sterling.  They may have known how to run it but they looked very vulnerable on offense and defense in the half court.  They could have been a lot better in my opinion.  Those kids had the ability to play half court,  you could tell they weren't used to doing it.  To me, blowouts would have been the perfect chance for them to get more comfortable  in that offense and defense.  Its doesn't come from the kids it comes from the coach.  I don't know maybe he is unsure of himself in that situation if so he could have used that time for both his and the kids benefit.

 18.
I got a few thoughts on this topic.  First of all, i think just because you make it to Austin in the final 4, doesnt guarantee you a spot in the top 4 or 5 on the final poll.  Some teams come out of weak regions where they may not make out 2 rounds in another region.  Leggett in 1A-II region 4 is a great example.  They made it to the state tournament and lost to Kennard in the regular season.  Kennard was the THIRD PLACE team 24-1A-II, which is region 3 though.  I promise Leggett couldnt make it 2 rounds in region 3, and they have no business being in the top 10 or maybe 15 in the TABC poll, but finished 4th for making it to state (Laneville at #6 beat them by 8 pts on a neutral court).  Now in Spurgers case, they beat the #2 team in state at the time to get to state, so i agree they should be higher.  In the teams ranked ahead of them, i saw Cayuga, Bronte, Gruver, Tenaha, and Martins Mill play at least once.  I think Spurger shouldve been possibly ranked ahead of Gruver or Tenaha, but not Bronte or Martins Mill.  Bronte for obvious reasons, and Martins Mill gave Cayuga a heck of a game in the regional finals, it was within 10 points until some point in the 4th quarter.  I think Martins Mill wouldve done pretty well at state also.  I cant speak for those other 3 teams, but they better have made the regional finals at least.  I probably wouldve put Spurger at least in the top 6 or 7 though.  I agree about the TABC poll being a joke in some cases.  They rank teams that i know have no business being in there and leave teams out that are more than deserving.
I  can agree with that.
 19.
Right but apparently they already know how to do those thing well so I guess the coach felt thats what they needed to do to exploit teams and win. You guys kill me. What do you play sports for? To win the game, HELLO!!! That is like last year when Dallas got mad that the Vikings didnt lay down after they were beating. I love Dallas, but that is part of the game!!!
Oh I agree they needed to play to win but the point on here has been when they had huge leads they should have eased off.  I saw them play in person and they were not a real good team in the half court.  That is where they needed work, so in these lopsided games they had the opportunity to work on that part of the game.  As far as comparing to the pros,  these are high school athletes they are not paid and are not the best of the best.  Pros are both it is their job to keep a team from embarrasing them.  High school athletes are there to compete and learn the game.  If they are beaten so be it  And they  may even be in a lopsided loss but embarrassing them should never be part of the equation.  A truly good high school coach coaches not only to win but to make his players better preparing them for playing in the future.
 20.
LISTEN!!! You are talking about two different classifications of basketball. Most of those guys from Yates are playing to further their careers after highschool and have to be in the best shape and show there best. You know that hardly ever someone from 1A makes it big unless you are exceptional so you cannot say that. Plus Spurger only has like 7 members so I think it makes sense to rest them. Like I said before that is whats wrong with society and kids today. Just want things easy and not work for it. The Yates coach prepared them for Lancaster and that could of been the reason they finished strong and jumped ahead at the end.   All I have to say is RUSH LIMBAUGH AKA POLITICALLY CORRECT STATEMENT YOU MADE!!! JMO
Just like I have said elsewhere if they are trying to get ready to "further their careers" they need to be good at a lot more facets of the game than just pressing.  Such as half court offenses and defenses so that point is crap.
 21.   I know many of you would expect me to comment on the Tigers ranking but that is not what I made this topic about.  I made this because I feel the poll really did an injustice to Spurger.  I know the argument would be that they got beat badly by Cayuga and some of the other teams ranked above them didn't. However,  the Pirates made it to Austin so they were one of the final four teams. They lost to the team that won state.  In my book they deserve to be ranked higher than ninth.  I would have to put them in the top 4 because they earned their spot in Austin and beat the number  2 team in the state.  Congratulations Pirates on a great year and congratulations to all our ranked area teams!!  Good luck next year!!
 22. Dove is so jealous of HJ and Silsbee its pathetic. Every year we battle for first yet there is never ever a battle for celler dweller. :)
 23. I don't think anyone has a problem with Yates team. It is the coach they have a problem with.
 24. All you need to do is look at the stats of those who made the list.  It took a couple of games for some of those to be comparable to what DC put up in one.
