AllY'all whine too much about yates, it's high school basketball, 16,17, &18 year olds playin ball, a game. So what if their better at the game, that's what they strive for. Quit all the cryin, if u were in their place an had that talent you would be doin the same thing. It's HIGHSCHOOL BASKETBALL, if you don't like it join the chess club!;)
No most of us in here would take th approach of Travis Williams, Todd Sutherland, or James Gamble and various other local coaches that we know of and show a little class. Each of these has had teams that could have beaten som of the teams they played by hug margins and yes they have won with some lopsided scores.. However, they can allow their kids to play hard without pressing full court with an insurmountable lead. And I can assure you that they would not be calling timeouts just to score 100 points. I am all for letting kids play and teaching them to give 100 % but there are ways to do it without intentionally humiliating teenage kids.
YOU SAY WHAT.....................One of the techs was against the bench?......That is an indirect technical...........you have to have two direct technicals or 3 indirects to get tossed....If that is the case somebody made a big BOO-BOO.....UH-OH!!!!!.....
I am not sure that is what I heard. Never got an official word on it.
LET ME SAY THIS..........THE FACT THAT I HAVE ONLY GIVEN 5 TECHS TO COACHES IN 17 YEARS OF OFFICIATING PROBABLY DOES NOT MAKE ME AN EXPERT ON THIS THREAD...but.....in any situation involving the second technical foul.....a coach would have to run out on the court and punch me before I would do it...and in a regional he would probably have to urinate on my leg .....I preface this by saying I was not at this game...and cannot and will not pass judgement on this crew...(but would like to have seen what took place.....
I was there and there was nothing like that going on. He had been complaining the whole game. One T on the bench earlier. I didn't see exactly but I believe he was sitting(could have been standing) and said something as officials came by going to other end. The game was already out of hand. My point has been whether or not official was right or wrong, don't give him a chance to toss you. He has been warned already don't push it. This coach seems like a class act, I am not saying anything bad about him, he was just frustrated.
I don't think it is Yates responsibility to go in to a game worrying about not beating a club to bad. It's the oppositions job to be prepared to play.I enjoy watching ESPN but I don't think it's their job to tell us what to think.
I don't think ESPN has to tell the majority of us what to think...We know pressing a high school team is wrong when you are up 100 points at halftime.

Silsbee All Decade Team (my Opinion) 2000-2010
Darrell McArthur ? 80's Mat Walters ? 60's or 70's
Darrell McArthur ? 80's was probably the best Tiger player but his thread is decade 2000-2010. :) -
Nice game today Silsbee and while you didn't achieve what you wanted, there's about 180 or so other teams in 3A that'd love to have had the experience of making it to "The Drum". It was a really good game down the stretch and the game unfolded just about like I figured it might (Not talking about the outcome, just what happened during the game.). I thought it would be a close game and in the end it was. It was much more fun to watch than the 2nd one. That was an ugly game to sit and watch. This was a much better semi-final game than we had last year against Stafford who was out of it midway through the 2nd quarter of that one. Hope y'all are proud of your Tigers. They sure made our guys work hard today.
I think we are more proud of our team than they will know, one bad quarter got us in trouble. Falling bhind by 14 with 3:20 left and never giving up..cutting it to 2. That is the heart of a Champion. Losing to a team like Madison who hasn't lost to a 3A team in quite a while is no reason for them to be down on themselves. They have had a season that a lot of people did not think would happen this year. Losing an all-state guard last year as well as a couple of shooter, who just seemed to never miss. Yet this team came together and made Us fans very proud. We will miss Avory and all his blocks, Jones and his rebounds and Hill with his slashes to the bucket and quick hands(as well as his found 3 ball this year. For those returning we will be missing two trees but have a great nucleus to work around with Stallworth, Lane and Gaines. Looking forward to another great season next year. It will take a lot of hard work to get back here but you can do it.
Congrats Silsbee on a great season! Way to fight to the end....Thanks for the support for Spurger and we're sure you'll be back here in Austin again next year!
Definately speaks volumes for our Tigers down 14 with 3:20 left and cut it to 2 with 9 seconds to go. Two big time free throws for Madison.
Great game, Tigers. Stallworth almost brought them back with 2 three's. Free throws hurt.
We could have made a few more free throws but according to UIL we shot same # as Madison and made 2 more. Turnovers and a bad third period killed the Tigers.

Common opponent for Silsbee and Dallas Madison
ST413 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Common opponent is irrelevant here!!!! Those games were likely back in November......that was almost 4 months ago and likely 30 games ago!!! Some teams may o may not have had football players or not hae had them for long, etc!!! I still say that Silsbee wins!!!!!
Common opponent may be irrelevant but I don't believe Madison(they lost in first round) was missing football players and I know Silsbee wasn't. Harker Heights may not have even made fb playoffs I couldn't find them. May have missed them looked quickly. GO Tigers. -

I hope this means good things. -

You may need to replay this one tomorrow night. Hopefully for a very good reason. ;)
I will not be doing any kind of replays until after I get back to Silsbee. I will be in the Drum watching 18 basketball games the next 3 days, around 15 hours a day. ;D
I guess thats understandable, I wish I was doing the same.

yeah I predict that they will probably be released next week.. :D :D

What do you think The Tigers chances are vs Madison?

Lazeek, I hope you are right but not sure size will be a factor. They are equal in size. -

Hit some outside shots, make free throws, limit turnovers, and stay out of foul trouble and we will have a good chance.
